  1. Ordinarily you get 1 bottle of the stuff for about £98. It's enough for 30k miles. As the 300 is a v twin they recommend 1 bottle per bank of cylinders as it's got 2 throttles. So as an introductory offer they supplied 2 kits for the price of one. I only fitted them on Monday evening of this week so it's too early to tell, but I should be getting a smoother engine then increases in bhp / fuel savings. I'll let you know how it goes. Fittings not as straight forward as it could be as the vacume ports on both sides of the engine are in different places - but hey - what is straight forward about these engines...
  2. ...I was thinking that myself untill I realised I'd already lost the receipt. Have a look at http://www.ctech3000.com - I got 2 of the systems for the price of one - and I do about 15 to 18k miles a year in the NA so ANY saving is worth it...
  3. ...just fitted a pair of ctech3000 catalysts injection systems to my NA - 1 per bank. Claims about 20% reduction in fuel or 10%bhp hike. Supposed to work by adding Platinum into the combustion process so that the fuel burns more thoroughly - instead of the unburnt carbo-whatevers being burnt in the catalyst of the exhaust system. ...I'll let you know how I get on - needs about 2000 miles to achieve optimum results. cheerz Jack
  4. Dave ...the ones I have are from a UK TT. I thought of replacing my door mounted Jap import belts whilst replacing the twwed interior with a leather one. You are right about the lower mountings, but the door cards account for this. The problem was with the top fixings, the threaded plates are missing on an import (2+2 don't know about a convertable). Si I had to trim the front door cards to accept the original Jap belts. The Uk spec belts are not a mirror - they are laid out exactly the same ie the balanced weight mech is on the same side on both - but I imagine they both work differently... as we said, a dry subject. I've got a crappy cold - I must stop rambling... cheers Jack
  5. on close inspection, both left and right belts and all of their tensioning and securing mechanisms look exactly the same. But on the belt securing end each has a label clearly marked with a BIG L and R ie left and right. Also in the tensioning mechanisms, the part numbers are subtly different - L = VB31014 - A6 and R = VB31014 - B6. All I can think that it could be for is the weight that is ballanced within the tensioning mechanism has to move in different directions in relation to the mechanism under braking (to lock the belt). So - they look the same but they are different. Not the answer you are after - but that's often the case. good luck Jack
  6. Ah - but it's a TT - so that's about right then...
  7. you can tell her that my wife still hates my NA after 4 and a half years of ownership, so there's no hurry. It took her 6 months to stop refering to it as That Hatefull Car. But, I've used it every day since I bought it, do about 15k miles each year, never been in a garage (keen on DIY) and the older it gets, the better it gets. When I bought it they gave me 3 months warranty but nothing for the exhaust, and 4 and a quarter years later I've just replaced the centre pipes £20 second hand for full exhaust. Troubles been - brake judder - fit poly bushes in the front tie rods, sagging rear gearbox mount - ie prop vibration, new cambelt and waterpump - long DIY job, bit scary. ...when the sun shines take your wife out for a cruise around the countryside with her favourite CD playing loud. Thats about the only time my wife likes the car... Good luck Jack
  8. I've a full set (all 4) in very good condition from a 93 UK spec TT if you are interested. No good to me as mines a jap and the mountings are different - do your belts mount on the door pillars? If they do, they'll be no good for you also - god this is a lively topic. cheerz Jack
  9. ...I only mention it as mines a normally aspirated Z which is a good thing as I do about 15k to 18k miles a year in it - and I hear horror stories about TT mpg, but normally they reflect the use the car is being put to. Also it took me 15 mins to dispell RX7 ownership once I'd read the 14mpg average...

just replaced mine whilst replacing a centre section and bought Nissan Bluebird gaskets. They are about half the thickness so I used 2 per pipe - cost about £1.02 each from Exhausts Unlimited... And the lady who served me appologised for the price... Good luck Jack
  11. ...mines a Jap import and the fuse boxes in the engine compartment are all in English. If the engines ok, why worry? cheers Jack
  12. ...sounds like a good price - don't believe the mileage - for some reason all Jap imports seem to have about 50k on the clock when they first arrive - immaterial of age... The interior will give you clues to it's authenticity. Good luck Jack ...oh and it's not the cost of insurance you should be worrying about, its the mpg.
  13. Craig - got an electric drivers seat in the garage if you want it (Ipswich). cheers Jack
  14. Thanks for the info. By parameters, I did mean weather conditions etc. I've no real knowledge and would welcome any info that would help ensure that the readings are relatively accurate. I'm not really interested in the ultimate power reading, just interested to see whether there will be a 'noticeable' increase at each improvement stage. Especially with the platinum fuel additive - which the manufacturers clain can increase bhp by up to 10%. I think that the runs will have to be over three consecutive Saturday mornings. 1st with all standard geat, 2nd Saturday with no cats and non-standard exhaust, and thirdly with the fuel additive. From what I understand the additive has to be in the system for a few days to work to it's full extent. chers Jack
  15. ...sorry it's Jocks exhaust that will be bought.
  16. ...strange this one... I've got the opportunity to test a new product being launched into this country from the US. Basically it adds platinum to the combustion process and offers abour 20% savings in fuel (its sold as a fuel-saving device) or alternatively about 10% extra power - and about 70% better emissions. It's been in the US for a long time, sold mainly to big diesel trucks. This is the new petrol version. Idea is that we dyno my 1990 NA with everything standard, then remove the cats and fit Coogs stainless exhaust (I get a ''free'' exhaust), and see what the bhp gain is with cats gone and a freer-flowing exhaust (as relatively standard upgrade). Then we add their product and dyno the car again. If all goes well, we should have more power and cleaner emissions. So, question is, are there perameters that should govern the testing, and does anyone know of a rolling road near Ipswich that could do the testing? ...and of course any comments are welcome. cheers Jack

might sound daft but too much grease can do it too. It traps water in the anti-squeal shim cut-outs. Don't know why this is, but it does it on my daily driver NA. A very thin smear is the answer...
  18. ...I'm on year 5 of ownership (of Z) and my wife still hates the car. Refers to it as that hatefull red car... Have you seen those interludes on the telly where they ask actors etc various questions and get neat one-word answers - well there's one where they ask what theyed rescue if the house was on fire, well I don't keep the Z in the house, but if my house was on fire, I'd rush out and move the Z - all the rest can go up in flames. ...and I'd take my wife out as well - I'm getting into deep water here. Just buy one, life's too short. I know, I'm old.
  19. ...in that case I'd be looking for something that could run a DVD player or Playstation or some (I'm out of my depth) other must have.... Good hunting. Jack
  20. ...trace it back, you'll have already removed the back seats - there's control boxes in front of each rear wheel arch - vary according to spec level, and then there's rear speakers and amp (UK) and shocks adjustors - but all of this is part of the loom so I'd be looking for an afermarket add-on. Is it Jap or UK?
  21. not much help, but I've just replaced an interior - removed one from a crash damaged UK TT and fitted into my Jap NA. It looks like that wire is leading to the back, where all of the connectors under both the TT and the NA centre console lead forwards - and basically do heated seats, mirrors, lighter and ashtray light (UK) and (Jap) folding mirrors, mirrors, lighter and astray light. Question is - is there anything connected to your centre console that it plugs into(silly question) or are there any holes in the space under the arm rest where a previous owner has had some gadget or other hidden away. Only real solution is to follow the wire and find out what the other end is connected to. I did this with my wifes Saab recently and removed loads of old cell-phone stuff (tons of it). good luck Jack
  22. Stu ...he's been working all morning (some people have to) so just got back to me. Sat mornings better, can we say 9.30am? cheers Jack
  23. Stu ...I'll have a word with him this morning and we'll sort a time, most likely first thing. Watch this space. cheers Jack
  24. Stu ...got you a buyer. Can we come round on Saturday? Jack
  25. ...there's a purity of line in the design of the Z that upsets a lot of people. If you look at it, there's no overworked styling cues (unless you stick on all those aftermarket plastic bits) and this upsets people as the Japanese ''can't do sports cars''... Well I'm sorry mate, but they can. Or can they because if you follow this thought forward, take the Supra, tries to have a purity, but still comes out all Darth Vader. MX5, retro. Think of a few others and none of them stack up - so really the Z32 was possibly the first and the last? ...got to go, work calls. Jack
