  1. Are you sure. I was under the impression that you always flatten metalic before the lacquer coat !
  2. Guys, Need some advice. I'm spraying my BMW front bumper and have just finished the final colour coat. It's metalic so I have flattened it down with soapy water and 1500 grit. All looks great and it's not patchy. So I'm ready for my 3 coats of clear lacquer. I'm thinking that the first coat goes on until dry. Then the 2nd and 3rd can be put on wet i.e. 2nd coat leave until tacky then 3rd coat on. Question. Do I 1500 and tcut after the last lacquer coat or just tcut or neither ? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks again guys. Quavey you have a point. I'll look for under 130k then :)
  4. I got a few packs of those. Silver Stream is either 5 or 8 clubs, I can't remeber which one :)
  5. Ah yeah seen that one over on bimmer and 5.co.uk but although Jeek says he hasn't drifted over on that one and just uses his 540 for that I'm not sure about the vanos on it, he says it has noice at low revs which could mean a few grand repair in months to come. I'm also not liking the interior and that front lip would have to come off.
  6. Thanks Guys, I'm looking at at less than 100k for use in terms of miles on the clock. There are lots of both 540's and M5's but most have over 100k on them so are being put to the side.
  7. Anyone had either of these? I need something a bit quicker but need to retain the family car I can't have the wife having a faster car than me. So, I'm looking to upgrade my 523i in the not too distant future and I'm in the process of getting my knowledge up. Apart from the Vanos(s) on the M5 any other major things to look out for? Also for the price difference, apart from the speed (i.e. 1 second quicker 0-60 and a bigger top end) what are the pro's and con's ? Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks Mate, Got a reply back almost straight away. Thanks
  9. Does anyone have a contact number or e-mail address for Matt? If so can you send it to me Pinnacle1974 at g mail dot com Thanks

  12. How much you want for it :) My daughter needs a new lid for your bike :scooter:
  13. No chance unless you are removing the MAF. As soon as any moisture is detected you'll be limitited to 3k rpm and run like a dog.
  14. Is the PTU connect firmly attached. If you lost one and then another it could be working it's way free.
  15. I don't believe you can buy new series 1 ptu's. They were discontinued due to the solder lifting issues and replaced with series II, therefore any ptu you buy new should be a series II.
  16. Looking Good Paul. As for people getting bored with your thread. not at all mate, it's one of the reasons I still log on here ocasionally :). Keep up the good work and keep the progress updates and pic coming. I love these sort of threads. Start to finish with loads of pictures. (I've read every thread I can find on complete strip downs and rebuilds, including ever post of the RIPS Borg skyline thread).
  17. I've just sold my rear seat belt set up on E-bay. 3 point rear seat belts. Window surround panels rear quarter panels. I think the whole lot went for about £90. So if you haven't started yet, I would advise you to buy the UK panels as well as the seat belts. That way if you wanted to you could also change the front seat belts to mount from the pillar rather than the door.
  18. Grrr, you're not making it easy for me lol
  19. Thanks for the encouragement mate. I knew I could always count on you :)
  20. Thanks all for your advise and comments. I think I'll gove most of the a shot. Not sure about the pipe though, i don't want to attract sherlock holmes fans, this close to baker street. 20 hours now and going strong. It was very hard last night especially since the wife left her ciggarettes on the garden table and went out to tesco's,, so so tempting but I held off. (she is going down the tablet route startin 7th July to quit).
  21. What possessed you to taste it is what I want to know. Anything brown found on the floor should not be put in ones mouth :)
  22. I quit today. I don't want to use patches, inhalers etc. Just cold turkey. I also don;t want to start stuffing my face and put on 3 stone. Any tips or tricks or 1) resist temptation & 2) not pile on the pounds?
  23. Spot on IMHO. No hunger and no drive. it's all about the money to them now, they play for themselves and not thier country. The best player we have is James!
  24. I think that's a good option. Will do this on all (posted items).
