Don't worry, If I'm there 2 days late, then I'm late. Safety and comfort are my main priorities. I'm really excited about driving across europe, seeing the sites and experiencing the jouney in whole. If I'm tired I'll stop and have a sleep. Thanks for the concern though mate, I know my wife would appreciate you saying that :).

Unfortunately I'm not going to be taking the 300zx as I imagine that when I will be going in February there will be a fair bit of Ice and snow. So instead I'll be taking the Beema. I'll be dropping the wife and kid at the airport where they will fly to Macedonia. From here I will be grabbing the ferry to France and then driving all the way to Skopje in Macedonia. The challenge is to get there no more than 24 hours after they land. It's only going to be me in the car and there will not be any drugs involved to keep me awake. I will be taking regular breaks and probably grab a sleep in a hotel somewhere along the line. I'm in the process of sorting out travel insurance, AA European cover and car insurance. I will also be taking 2 cans of petrol, 4 litres of oil, a good few litres of water, tyre foam for repairs (as well as the spare tyre), snow chains and a shovel. The cars going to get a good service before it starts off and I'll be equipped with lots of music, food, coffee and red bull. I assume I need a GB sticker and some headlight deflectors. I'm just wondering if anyone else has drove across Europe. If so can you give me some tips of what is useful. I'll be using my Tom Tom Europe, I just need to download the eastern European maps.

Just out of interest. How much did you pay for it and what else does the car have on it ?. Everything else in good condition ?. i.e. seals, sub frame, arches etc ?. No rust ?

If one turbo is siezed you will not get any boost at all. I had this on mine passenger turbo siezes and couldn't get above 0 psi. Engine pull and turbo replacement. You should have asked here first before you bought the car. it would have saved you £1k.

The main leakage point for hicas is the U pipe that run form the bottom of the resovoir to the pump. Have a look if the level has dropped again and if so look under the car for sign of fluid (I mean the underside rather than the floor).

Yup steering lock would not come on. But Power steering and brakes would not work so well. If this happens to anyone else at high speed, put it in nuteral and use the brakes, if you turn the ignition off your brakes are no where near as good. SAFETY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE.. get yourself stopped safetly before turning off the engine. A car can be repaired...

I have a set of crystal corners which should fit it if it takes stock lights.

Take it for a long drive to try and relearn the ECU. if it is still in a bad way after 50 miles or so, you'll need someone to hook a conzult up to it to find the problem.

Jsut to add I've had this happen to me in the past but sorted it striaght away without too much trouble. I was speaking to another owener recently who had it happen when he was racing another car at 120mph. He said he took his foot off the accelerator and it just kept speeding up. He overtook the other car (probably mouthing HELP out of the window). In the end he slipped it into nuteral (Automatic) but then for some strange reason turned the ignition off. He managed to get it stopped on the hard shoulder without the steering lock coming on. Very dangerous indeed.

Hmm, what's happened to Z's in the south east then ?. That's probably why I don't see any. The last meet I organised at the chafford hundred 3 - 4 years ago, we had 12 x 300zx's a couple of 240's and MF's 350z.

Good IDea, I'll give it a shot before I make something from SS. Thanks for the suggestions however I know for sure that it's coming form the top. The splash from the front is not the problem, it's the top of the filter that gets wet, from either the headlight panel or somewhere around it. The reaosn I know this is that the apexi filter collects water just below the maf in it's little hollows. Also the gasket gets wet.

Removethe fuel pump relay and crank several times to get rid of any excess fuel. While you have that removed, you want to see if you are getting a spark. Check 1st and 6th plug first, if you don't get a spark check and clean the connections on your PTU.

I've never had the fuel light on since I owned the car. With cars this old it's a pretty scary thought as to what may be lying at the bottom of the petrol tank. I wouldn't want to let it drop that low to find out :). When I swap out my dials and fitted new gauges. I accendtially moved the fuel gauge, so when it's full now it tells me i only have 3/4 of a tank left. Therefore when it gets to near empty on the gauge I always fill it up again as I know I only have a 1/4 tank left. It's easy to fix but I kinda like it like this as a safety barrier. If I have to change or flush the tank then I'll sort the gauge at that time.

I may have to copy Vijay with the headlight panel since I've seen it :). If I get Vijay permission of course :) Actually thinking about it if I did that our cars would be almost identical. I managed to drive the car last night but was spluttering for 3 miles before the MAF decided that it would behave.

Yeah was going to do that anyway but I'm not 100% it's the headlight panel. It may be coming from the side of the panel / headlight.

Probably the smallest meet I've been to. Just 2 Z's, myself and TonyB, Butt Paul Gunn and his missus turned up to keep us company. Had a nice little ride home following Tony, however I blew a fuse on the way there and had no rear wiper or boost controller so I was limited to 9psi :(. Still a good meet for 2 Z's so can't complain. Good to meet you Tony, hope to you you again soon.
