Sounds like a starter Motor to me or is it more of a squel when you first start up like slipping belts ?

Take the mirror off using the Nut inside the car (triangle trim piece). Don't use the screw under the mirror method because you'll 1) scratch your paint work with fustration. 2) be there all day 3) both of the first ones.

As long as it's not below 12V mate, Test it at Crank should drop to about 10V. any less then I'd take it back as it's the wrong one.

I got locked out of my 7 series BMW once, PITA, although the ignition key was the same as the door locks, the door locks are controlled by solenoids, therefore when the battery was flat the doors couldn;t be unlocked with or without the key. The only was to get in was to open the boot (not a solenoid) and connect jump leads to the interior light connectors of the Boot. This would put just enough power into the circuits to operate the solenoids of the door locks when you turned the key.

If it was an air lock I would think that the steering would feel sticky all the time. You may have a problem with your PAS pump ?. Does the car also whine when you turn to full lock ?.

I don't think there is any way to open the bonnet from outside the car. However because of their age, the 300 is quite easy to break into. The locking mechanism is not protected very well from the drivers or passenger door. How come you don't have a key ? Maybe worth getting a set from AndyZ so you don't get in this sort trouble again.

I'd do the usual checks first. TPS & Temp sensor connector clean. May be worth resetting the ECU so that it can relearn. If all else fails try cleaning the AAI connector.

Does anyone here use Twinturbo.net. I've been using them for a wheil to answer my very indepth technical questions. However they have introduced a new NooB symbol which is placed next to your name if you are not a frequest poster. This is a bit of a pain becuase it seems as though none of my technical questions are getting any responses any more because of this NooB symbol next to my name. Anyone else get this problem ?
