  1. Mine has a 99 spec front bumper on it which is why it looks different. An OEM bumper but only fitted to the latest cars as standard.
  2. Welcome mate! Nice straight looking car, you need to get some clear side repeaters to get rid of the carrots on the wings! Look on ebay, only about £12 or so but well worth it... Always got a soft spot for grey ones... my first one was grey! Heaven forbid you ever drive a TT then you'll be really hooked!
  3. Welcome! Get some pictures up, targa or slicktop? Running on 5 is typically a coil pack, or coil pack connector. But could be a duff injector, spark or ptu... At worst case it could be a serious fault on the cylinder that isnt firing. Personally I wouldn't have driven it any more than a few miles as you could have caused some fairly major damage. It would have been better to get recovery!
  4. I had the tanks fitted to my old car when it was converted. Sadly the check valve was missing so I sourced one. Turned out in the end after driving the car for 6 months that it was installed the wrong way. I got the correct valve and my god what a difference. As to the comment about having to remove the wing to fit the tanks I'm not sure how true this is. The garage that converted mine didn't mention it and I couldnt see any evdence of wing removal. I think the car would be managable without it but I personally would want the job done properly and make sure it's all working as intended. Havng no vacuum tanks means as stated before you have a clutch pedal which changes depending on how you are driving. To me that would be anoying!
  5. Lol fair enough. I found one for my family, along with mugs and a plaque!
  6. Surely this is just people find a crest which fits their surname?!?!? lol... not really your "family" crest!
  7. Hmm this is the link i get from my facedave... not sure if it will work though! http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=427789467239&ref=mf
  8. Few more pics steve sent me the other day, hope you dont mind matt!
  9. Mine comes from my name and a silly song that my mates made up... I am Chris Cave, I was traditionally Cavey which then was sung as "cavey wavey chips and gravy" (Dont ask as I really dont know!) Anyway it got altered to "Quavey wavey chips and gravy" and Quavey kind of stuck. It is different which means that no one ever has my username if I join new forums :) It also comes from my old eve character Mr Quaveworth which was an extension of the original.
  10. Sounds suspiciously like you have a dead or dieing batttery there. None starting and alarms going of are typical of that. Either that or there is a short somwhere discharging the battery. I would guess that if you charged it up and cleaned the terminals it would run again. Check the age of the battery, I would certainly try it of you can though!
  11. Is it automatic or manual?
  12. Yeah send me the email over mate and i'll stick em up. Mike, at one time the project was abandoned but Matt then decided to carry on with it in memory of both his dad and rob. A good thing really as the project was so far along it would have been daft to leave it unfinished and break it.
  13. They are not alike and cant be compared! The 8 series was a very large gt cruiser. Think of it as a 7 series Coupe and you cant go wrong! Cant really compare that and an M3 as they were built for totally different purposes! Hell Ive just looked at the car and its an early 850i (I admit with a manual box which makes it unusual) worth about 5k! LPG converted or not the v12 offers very little (if any!) performance increase over the v8 with increased reliability issues and its harder to work on. For 10k it should be an 850csi! (48v 380bhp v12 - then your talking!)
  14. Dont be fooled, most of these so called "specialists" are fine with normal BM's but not good with M series cars, also cheap copy parts? No thanks! Even my old E36 M3 Evo I found the dealers were competative when it came to having it serviced properly. Infact they were cheaper than my local specialist and gave me a courtisy car and then dropped my car of at home and collected their car back. Not bad when I live 30 miles from them! Just because it was 10k to buy doesnt mean its the same as an Cee'd to look after ;) Ive just realised its got "csl style" wheels (i.e not original)... cheap shite, I would ask the owner why its got those and not the originals. Probably because its got crap tyres on it... Michelin Pilots Sports only on these!
  15. Not bad, does need a service though so any potential buyers factor in thats £500-£1000 depending on which service it is. I'll be ready for a clutch and flywheel so budget another grand of that job. Its about time th e46 dropped tho, as the E90/92 is dropping like a stone. Remember this is still nearly 10 years old!
  16. One of me and the other half on holdiay this year.
  17. Haha! This is finally finished, im not sure if Matt remembers who I am but I have met him a couple of times. I think Ive only seen the car on the road once in the last few years its spent that long getting built! Awesom figures - hope to see it about!
  18. Aw craig has got men crushes ;) lol
  19. Nope not a diesel mate! Was just lowered badly on the front, its now level on its coilovers :) Thats an old picture in my sig from when I first got the car. Send me an email if you want mate, ...
  20. lol deary me. What is it supposed to be? ( other than a disguised punto??) L must stand for lame. Or looser, or lacking inteligence... Hehe
  21. To be honest i wouldnt know, the car came with both that bumper and the front mount fitted. I cant imagine it making that much difference though, maybe in a 1000bhp build but its going to be fairly minimal on mine which is basically a standard car with a chip and a bar of boost. I dont have any issues in warm weather that I have noticed (other than no aircon!) but if anything is going to affect tha ton mine its the bent intercooler pipe on the passanger side! Quite bad it seems, a garage pointed it out to me the other day so going to have to have a look at that sometime in the future!
  22. I believe it is possible to do both with the engine in, but its apparently as much work to do them as to just take the engine out and do them with ease. at the same time there is a few bits and pieces which can be done around the back of the engine water pipes etc and crank seal which are often preventative maintainence. Apparantly The passanger side is not to bad to do with the engine in, much easier than the drivers side.
  23. I have a 99 spec and an ebay special (i think) FMIC and it looks like this... Thank you please!
  24. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=140764 Information already gained from this question. Sounds like a vacuum leak to me
  25. Nice to see you on here again mate! Let me know when your next about and i'll pop up with mine to renew your faith in the machines!
