  1. Puma's are great cars! Not very practical but handle well I believe! Citroen Saxo vtr/vts (although hard to find and expensive to insure) are brilliant little cars, suprisingly quick, good handling, cheap to run cheap to fix and cheap to buy. Obviously avoid the ones with 19's on and exhausts you can put your head down, but a standard one is quite nice. Reliable as the hills, a friend of mine has one and despite him trying his hardest to kill it for the last 4 years and 60k it hasnt missed a beat!
  2. IIRC this was about the time he went for his engine rebuild? Sorry...
  3. Lol its awful, but it does depend on the driver. I have a couple of mates who are very respectful and I end up telling them to stop being throttle puffs and get on with it. Especially in the M3 as that had such a stiff throttle with all the throttle body linkages that you could mistake half throttle for being full if you wernt used to it. However I also have a mate who had ago in the M3 and good god I have never been more scared in all my life. Generally because he is such a poor driver, threepenny cornering and poor judgement.. Terrifying. Worst thing was after explaining that Evo's suffer from a low clutch biting point (just how they are!) he stalled it twice. So i suggested moving the seat forwards a bit to help. So he stops by the side of the road, pops it into first, foot on the clutch and grabs hold of the seat slide handle... You can imagine the seat shot backwards my poor car dropped into first, a little scrabble from the back end and a very undignified stall. Luckily it did stall as of course he wasnt actually in control of the car whilst he was messing about in the back seat! I'm sweating thinking about that 3 mile drive home!
  4. I have an adjustable FPR on my car , fairly pointless but it was put on by the previous owner to be used as a fuel pressure gauge. (And to look cool!) So you could get one for that purpose :)
  5. Absolutly, if I could claim milage rather than having a van, I would buy an E46 M3 in a hearbeat and use that until it stopped, and buy another one! It was interesting though, i drove an Rs4 and thought hmm yeah this is nice, bit quiet and refined and light though. After I got home, I purposly went out in the M3... And it suddenly brought back all the "fun/special occasion" of my first zed. Because it seemed so raw compared to the RS4. Problem is, I quite fancy a change again but I just dont know what/why/is it worth it/do I even need a fast car? Do i use it enough?
  6. If you took standard for standard and put them side by side and went at 100% from the line there would be almost nothing in it. I found my M3 Evo was quieter, more refined, more comfortable and handled much better. Out and Out speed was about the same. However The 300zx is more fun, more interesting and feels more of an occasion to drive. Also for lazier overtaking, the superior torque from the 300zx's motor just wins hands down. The M3 was quick, but you had to work for it! I got rid of my M3 for two reasons, first one is that this slicktop I have came available and the other was that it was almost too good. I found it boring, as most of the time it drove like a normal BMW, 328i etc. Comfortable quiet economical. Then when you could be bothered drop a couple of a gears and your off. Where as even doing 20mph the zed feels like an occasion, its hard noisey and so impractical. Its better for being a worse car. I shoudl mention that I drive alot for a living, so quiet comfortable and economical is what I have from my astravan, the M3 just didnt feel special. As to the original question, 10 year old merc was in the mid life crisis stage I think? poor build quality and questionable materials. Really not well build at this age, new ones awesome, late 80's early 90's equally good. Late 90's early 2000's shabby i believe. I'm also a BMW man, so regardless id say get the BMW... will be better to drive and of course dont bother with a 4 pot, the straight 6's are famous for a reason!
  7. Just out of interest what did you pay for your car?
  8. Not A nice example But these cars should Be worth 6k plus! It's just a bad reputation and a few other things which keep prices so low. In Europe they go for much much More. Maybe 6k for A Tatty One! Having said that awful advert and what the hell is on the bonnet?!?
  9. It was? lol your memory is better than mine. It was a tatty E46 i remember it was a cheapie... I never got on with that forum right load of funny buggers do you not think??!
  10. The only thing they might have done, is mistaken the reading for km since the car is an import and looks like it still has a km speedo. However, on the bmw forum i used to use there was a chap that had had a 330i with 125k on the clock, sold it and it cropped up on ebay a few months later with 80k... amazingly it had been put in for MOT at 130k and failed then a week later back in for an MOT at 80k...! He reported it and the police were most interested, saying they had had a few complaints about the dealer.
  11. Do the calipers actually fit and use the surface of the disk though?
  12. They are ok I suppose, but the problem is you have the same clamping force, and although you have bought a nice big disk you dont actually use all of it. Infact I think someone did some maths somwhere to show that the actual pad contact area is no better or even less than standard just the disk is bigger and better at disapating heat. Problem also comes with when you buy the brackets, disks and pads it comes to £400-£500 (I know I did it on my first zed, and although it was better it was THAT much better) I have a set of d2 8pots and 330mm disks which cost me about £650 in total including braided lines and its far far better than the previous solution on my first zed, which included me rebuilding and refurbing the standard calipers.
  13. Suppose that once a week 10 men go out for a beer together having been friends for years. The bill for them all comes to £100. However, some of the men had no jobs and one was now very wealthy. They agreed to pay for their beer the way they paid their taxes and claimed their state benefits. The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay £1. The sixth would pay £3, the seventh £7, the eighth £12, the ninth £18 and the 10th man (the richest) would pay £59. The ten men drank in the pub every week seemed quite happy with the arrangement until, one day, the landlord caused them a little problem. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your weekly beer by £20.” Drinks for the ten men now cost just £80. The group still wanted to pay the bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink their beer for free but what about the other 6 men; the paying customers? How would they divide the £20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share? They realised that £20 divided by six is £3.33 but if the subtracted that from everyone’s share then not only would the first 4 men still be drinking for free but the fifth and sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So the landlord suggested a different system. The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing. The sixth man now paid £2 instead of £3. The seventh paid £5 instead of £7. The eighth paid £9 instead of £12. The ninth paid £15 instead of £18 and the tenth £49 instead of £59. Each of the last six was better off than before and the first four continued to drink for free. But, once outside the pub, the men began to compare their savings. “I got only £1 out of the £20 saving,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, “but he got £10.” “Yes that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man, “I saved only £1 too. It’s unfair that he got 10 times more saving than me!” “That’s true!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get £10 back, when I got only £2? The rich get all the breaks!” “Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison, “we didn’t get anything at all. This new system exploits the poor!” So the nine men surrounded the tenth man and beat him up. Funnily enough the tenth man didn’t turn up the next week for their regular drink, so the nine sat down and had their drinks without him. But when they came to pay for their drinks, they discovered that they didn’t have enough money between them to pay even half the bill.

  22. No it shouldnt do, you shouldnt have had use proxy server selected anyway really, unless the machine is setup to run on a network with a proxy server? Do you use that machine for work at an office?
  23. My dad has asked me to try and find a storage tank of some description. I'm a little stuck as to finding something suitable so I wondered if anyone has any ideas? Basically we want something to be horizontally mounted, cylindrical with rounded ends preferable but that isnt the end of the world. Dimensions of aproximatly 900mm long by 500mm wide is what we are looking for. Its not got to hold any pressure just water/weedkiller solution. I have tried looking for compressor tanks, lpg tanks and water tanks but cant seem to find much suitable!
  24. Sadly not true, system restore points are created automatically. Using it is reversible, and does not always mean you will loose any files created. Documents should not be lost, it will however remove software. As I said they can be reversed so you have little to loose by trying it.
  25. No you shouldnt do, but you could always back things up just in case!
