So, the money you saved fixing the leak yourself will pay for the new laptop. :wack: You fookin' crack me up sometimes Jimmy LOL.

I would have thought it was the culprit, the old cooler is cracked and was leaking a goodun what the hell is it now ggrrrrrrrrrrr... Il do another leak test 2mow. Well at least i dont have a huge dent in my wing anymore :D car stll needs a full respray though. nutter ! CAnt wait to see the car now jimmy you should bring it down one day ! vijay
might show up other leaks now as your system will have more pressure to get around
j1mmytt
might show up other leaks now as your system will have more pressure to get around Thats what im hoping, as before when i did the leak test the pressure just wouldnt hold for longer than a few seconds. When car was running i could hear a funny noise from the front left intercooler like a high pitched wistle but hard to locate with engine noise, also sounds like im getting a hiss underneath the offside intake pipes. Will see what 2mow brings.

Smithy
The large leaks are what generally cause the car to stall at stop signs, small ones usually make the car erratic at certain boost points. It's always handy if you have someone to help listen carefully around the engine for any noise, you can also put little smears of soapy water on various joints. Keep testing until your 100% all have gone, it is possible to have a large number of them after an engine swap. A hose band may look nice and tight on the top, but underneath it's not on straight and slipped of the rubber or silicone, so take your time and you'll sort it ;) As Vijay says, now the biggest one is hopefully sorted, the pressure will be greater on the remaing smaller weak areas. smithy

Il bring a bucket and soap and fill it with water when i get there, i was using wd40 to find the leaks but soapy water sounds better. But would this leak make the car run rich though? TopLess
You are better off with a garden spray gun filled with diluted washing up liquid! Just go back to basics Jimmy Conzult timing compression test fuel pressure check Boost leak check again! Maybe change the CAS

Maybe change the CAS Ive already filled up a kitchen spray gun with soapy water haha. off to do a quick boost leak test. Fuel pressure test, how do i do one of those then do i need a gauge for that? j1mmytt
OK done another boost leak test, leaking brake booster pipe and pcv hose, changed brake hose and tightened pcv but still no joy, im still having the exact same running issue, runs far better without tps connected so thats staying off till its fixed. j1mmytt
have you checked the tps voltage? Thats on my list to do later today when my friend gets here with a volt meter. I tell ya what i have just done though, taken out all the spark plugs cleaned off all the coke and replaced them but still no diference. By the way is this the correct plug ngk pfr6b11c the plugs were all coked up and some of them had a bit of a bronzy colour on the tips? i hope its not fooking detting jesus christ. Seems as though the car doesnt wanna reach running temperature either stays at about 1/4 not sure if the sender is faulty or not? pipes feel hot. Can someone also tell me what the temp sensor volt readout should be as i want to eliminate this as a problem because i bought a new one from car spare factors so theres a slight chance it may be incorrect. Smithy
Now are you a 100% there are no more air leaks ? the biggest cause of running rich on a fairly stock set up like yours AND after an engine refit, is an air leak OR an incorrectly fitted hose somewhere. Is there another local Zed that can park alongside yours to compare the various hoses ? Have you done an ECU check for error codes ? When the engine has been running, put your hands ontop of the plenum and see if one side is cooler than the other, they should be pretty much the same, if they feel different then the throttle bodies are outta balance. Think from a previous post of yours that you polished the CAS ?? if so are you sure Scott has set it back to 15 degrees ? smithy P.S Yep plugs are fine

The system doesnt hold pressure for that long though is that normal? Will check the plenum heat thing and post another update. Im sure they are balanced... how do you check if they are balanced coz im sure i balanced them a few months ago, the way i did it was to make sure both butterflys opened at the exact same time is there more to it? I marked the cas postion before i removed and polished it to be sure its back at 15 degrees and it looks bang in the middle. Scott did a diagnostic check which came back fine. Vjay will be taking a visit to my house later in the week with a conzult so till then theres not much else i can do??? Can a mod please change the title of this thread to "Woohooo just isolated my problem.... NOT" Thanks Edited July 13, 2008 by j1mmytt
