  1. cheers dude, its only ever done it twice now. Once last week and Once on the Isle of Man, so it could be somthing and nothing. If its PTU it should steadily get worse, so if i can get it to do it reliably then i'll take you up on that offer :)
  2. Sorry guys not been so well recently. Totally forgot about this thread... I did think it could be the PTU getting a bit panicky. It had one a few years ago with one of its previous owners, but it could be ready to pop again
  3. time to shop the place in where you work mate?? Not welding to agreed standards is surely not legal! Take em to the cleaners!
  4. Sounds really silly... but what does it sound like when a car is detting? What happens? How does the det sensor work and what does it do? Mine coughed a bit at 6500rpm and didnt want to rev about it tonight, didnt do it again just wondered if it was the system working and it fuel cutting to stop any damage? Idiot waits in awe of technical response! Ta Chris
  5. I heard it was proof that pigs cant fly!
  6. nice thing that murt. What did you part with for it if you dont mind me asking... PM me if you like :)
  7. looks nice dude, nice colour as well! Bear in mind - dont trust a standard 300zx guage as far as you can throw it! Fuel gauge in mine reads about a quater different to what it really is... like my rev counter reads 10% more than it should lol, speedo doesnt seem so bad, boost guage, god knows, oil pressure guage tells me the temperature outside i think... ! and temp gauge goes up and down with bumps at times :D
  8. i'll be honest, after a few years working in different jobs and having to work with/serve/help etc im fast loosing my patience. I'll not go into detail but you can guarantee if the person wasnt british there would be a problem! Lets fast forward to last weekend, i sold an old renault laguna, with no tax and no MOT for £128 on ebay. Declared as spares or repair, will have to be towed/trailered away! I thought that was perfectly clear enough until the auction ended and guess what - A polak on the other end of the phone. For the love of good i thought, well lets give em one last chance. So after saying they would be at mine at half 8, it was half 10 when they arrived all three of them by taxi, expecting to drive this car home they had bought for £128... So when i explained them it was illegal to drive in england with no tax, insurance or MOT they threatened to call the police on me for trying to sell them an illegal car. In hindsite i wish they would have called them now, because i could only pray that they didnt have documents and there would be three little polacks on their way back to where they came from! another note to add, also just sold a pair of graphics cards to a polak, whos decided they dont want them now so never again will I deal with a none english person!
  9. manual but i do miss my auto on the motorway. Aint nothing like sitting at 80 ish and leathering it to the board so it drops into 3rd and off we go! Sounded fantastic. Where as the manual is good but it just takes effort to take a foot of the accelerator depress a pedal move a leaver let the clutch back in and accelerate again so i just dont bother lol... does wonders for fuel economy, got 300 miles to a tank the other week! lol
  10. Most monitors carry a 3 year warranty. Normaly return to manufacturor, i would just double check you cant get it replaced! Even better if you plead your a student and need it for work they normally come out next day, take the old one and bring the new one on the same van :) HTH
  11. lol... i had a rattle can in the boot it was just too cold! :(
  12. lol you'll be shot. You've got Faye on a photo! Get me in trouble! Was a good meet guys, really nice food! My pictures are the same lol so hardly worth posting! Although i will :)
  13. lol wahoo im famous! I thought i once posted somtihng up about that... As i said, all in Brian Longs book. Thats a good read! The very last ZX was reported sold by a dealer in 2001, however as stated, production ceased in 2000. Another interesting note, is that the very last one was not apparently not kept by the factory and was purely sold as stock.
  14. you say your not going to drive it hard? Well lets be honest whats the point in having it then... Even the people on here who say they dont give them any work will still have a little squirt now and again. You would be far better looking at somthing more like a quick front wheel drive car. Nice and safe, very hard to crash. These things will try and bite you in the ass at any opportunity and unless you have serious cash i wouldnt try and run one as a daily. Most owners on here (including my self) have a cheap hack (in some cases a much more expensive hack!) to run about in to save the zed. You cant just jump in these and nip to the shops a mile down the road and switch it off, it will not like you for that at all. You cant just work on them like a "normal" car, and if you intend to use it as a daily then it will need alot of work just to keep it on the road. We had a guy a little while ago, cheema was it? Perhaps not i cant remember who was running one at 19 or so and had to sell up in a few months and lost a packet. I bought one at 20 and ive struggled with it a bit, and ive always had another daily...! now im 21 insurance isnt so bad and i didnt buy a lemon so ive been lucky! Just think long and hard - have a look at what your mates have crashed and think what if they had 300bhp instead of 100bhp and twice the weight. However good you think you are, or how prepared you are. Your not until youve got a few years driving under your belt. Ive only been driving 4 years and ive done well over 100k in that time, which is a reasonable average. I still know there is experience to be had! On a lighter note, most of us had to build up to one so sod having one as you first car, get a shitron paxo like everyone else! lol Also, id hate for you to crash one, means one less 300zx around which is a real shame!
  15. either laser or waterjet, plasmas wont give you a massivly high quality cut. what is it you want exactly have you drawn it up in autocad or somthing? Or have you got a drawing of it?
  16. its near wigan dude, 40 miles from me so its a fair treck for you... Would be good to see you both though!
  17. ""THE BOOST HAS BEEN REDUCED FOR THE ENGINE TO HAVE SAFE BOOST FOR LESS WEAR AND TEAR"" So its running in safety boost then... lol What a tool.. as to Si's response (and i agree with him) if you took the shite off it would look nice, but then it would almost me an original 300zx with a slightly fatter arse than normal... Nice colour though!
  18. Im going to the IOM in a few hours... not even started packing or prepared the car or anything... Eek! Most ive done is filled it up with fuel.... no tools sorted or spares yet... need to pack clothes and stuff (infact need to buy clothes!) Im so excited about going thought should be an awesome weekend :D
  19. What versions of windows are we talking? In theory there isnt, without breaking the security. Now there are ways of rewriting the security ID's from outside of windows, which would allow you access to the filles, however this tends to ruin the installation of windows, or at least the user account. if there is another user account on the laptopt hen you could try this method and see your luck. Basically searching through google should find you something, although you will have to be fairly PC literate to be able to sort it - be prepared for muchos buggering about... Alternativly, and probably the easiest way would be to remove the laptops hard drive, mount it in a 2.5" caddy and hook it up to another PC.. thats all well and good however you may still not be able to access the files. The next trick is then to adjust the user permissions within windows for the files on the hard disk, now you normally have to take ownership of the files with an administrator account (depends what level of user she was on her own laptop really) however if she had the laptop as part of a domain network (getting complex i know...) i.e. at a uni, or large company etc then you may need to take ownership of the files as a network administrator, or a domain administrator (different class of user than normal "administrator")... which is difficult to do at home, although now the data is portable in the 2.5" caddy you can at least easily take it to someone who may be able to sort that out for you.
  20. Any more punters for this? Bummpppp!
  21. along these lines altho this is an NA... @ 108,920bhp and 5,608,312lbft of torque! http://people.bath.ac.uk/ccsshb/12cyl/ The top one looks more like the sort of turbo size fitted to a Class 47
  22. I felt it too... just a bit confused really, house shook for 10 seconds, thought my desk was going to collapse! Quite strange, wasnt sure if it was some low flying large aircraft they tend to make as much of a droning noise somtimes! Odd a friend of mine amile away didnt feel a thing, yet the rest of the coutnry did... Obviously his house is built on mush!
  23. and mine as well... although they were rusted solid when i gt the car. quick spray of wd40 and were good as new!
  24. Lol, well it would be near the uni...shes an art student.
