  1. Just been under car trying to look for a drain plug on auto box but couldent find one, how do I drain some of the oil out?? cheers!

  3. Hello all, I have a H reg tt uk spec and im thinking of a cam belt change as I dont know when it was changed last. Can anyone tell me how difficult this is to do? is it an engine out job? and what would the price be at a main dealer? Also if anyone can tell me what problems you would get, if any, by over filling an auto box as mine has a dodgy reverse when cold and when going through the gears hard it goes from 1-2-4-3-4 would this be due to over filling?? Cheers all!!

Today I had to strip my back wheel on my tt, replacing the wheel studs but one thing I noticed, I found it hard to turn the back wheel with the handbrake off and in neutral, when It comes to turning it I have to use alot of pressure, I did think it was my auto box playing up but now im wondering if its my diff playing up? should the rear wheel be easy to turn or am I worrying about nothing? If anyone can give me some tips that would be great!!! Cheers!

  11. Hello, I have a 91 uk spec tt and I need to change the rear studs but I dont have a big enough socket for the hub bolt, can anyone tell me what size the hub bolt is? Cheers....
  12. I will try it again tommorow but im sure its not going to work? as I dident see any lights on the dash board, would there be a different test for UK spec? I used this one http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnettech/autodiag/autodiag.html I think its for a import? If anyone can help that would be great?! But cheers anyway mate!!
  13. I get around 15-20 mpg around town with a little hard driving in between and around 25 on motorway around 80-100mph I put in £25 and do about 110-115 mpg im driving a 91 auto tt...

Hello all, I have just tryed to do a diognostic test on my 91 uk spec tt I went through the sequence a few times but nothing happends? no lights no nothing? where and when should the lights flash? Just also done an ECU test and that came back code 55 which is fine. can anyone tell me why this does not work? and where the lights would flash?? Cheers in advance!!
  15. I have just read in another post that it could be the ECU (smell of fuel and a few other probs) where do I find the ECU and how do I do a diognosic test on it? Cheers everyone!!
  16. I have noticed that the limp home mode if it is that? does the same as reverse not as bad but struggles at times and smells of fuel? Maybe someone out there can help me???
  17. That could be the problem? I did think that some time ago! One of the rear brakes rubbs constantly and are starting to look low, Think I shall change the rear pads before I start to panic!! Cheers mate!
  18. Its very strange! I cant work it out? but does sound like the limp home mode? not sure how you check it though?? When im driving steady the gears work fine, driving forward that is! think changing the oil might be a good start? oil level seems fine but I cant get a true reading due to the oil movement while engine running.
  19. Hello all!, I have posted a couple of times about this problem and had no joy? I have a 91 uk spec twin turbo with an auto gearbox I have two problems with it, the first is:- When driving on cold engine I select reverse drive back and after a few feet the box seems to click into a mode as if i was using the brake and gas peddal at same time its fine when warm. The second problem is:- when driving forward hard the gears go 1st to 2nd then 2nd to 4th after a few seconds it kicks into 3rd then to 4th. I have tryed the diognostic gearbox test but it doesent work? Can anyone please help me with this??? :confused: And thanks in advance!!

Remote start should only be fitted to an auto anyway as they say? my last car was an celica gt4 that was manual and had remote start, forgetting I had it in gear when I finished work and fired it up using the remote start I found my car reversing up the car park on its own I managed to stop it in time before it hit another car!! it will tell you in the remote start manual that they should only be fitted to autos.
  22. Hello all, I get this relay sound and the interior light flickers on and off when I do over a certain speed I think its the boot lid switch? just had a look for it and I cant see it anywhere? can anyone help? cheers!! ;)

Hello, When I boot my tt as its winding up through the gears it goes to second fine then changes into 4th then drops to 3rd then back up to 4th does anyone know why it does this?? also when I reverse with cold engine sometimes the box seems to click into slow mode and needs nearly full power to go back any ideas? (safety mode??) oil seem fine as I have topped it up.. I have tried the diognostic thing but doesent seem to flash at me it does nothing!
