This was Apexi's Ignition Timing Controller and it allows you to adjust the timing at rpm level so at 2000 rpm you could advance it 2 degrees and when boost comes in retard it a little to help stop detonation. I don't know the settings for a zed though !!! Olly.

I have the same, decat and straight through 3" all the way and no boxes at all, even the rears are just straight through pipe, but I get a rackity sound about half way up the rev range, do you get the same !!! I am thinking of adding a back box either side to change the sound, it sounds lovely at tickover and full chat but through the midrange it sounds a bit awful. Olly.

You also have traction to think of. I already have trouble getting the power down properly with 400 bhp, let alone 600bhp !!! I have uprated suspension all round and 285/30/18 rear tyres (bridgestones) and allthough the grip is there I can light them up any time I want with the accelerator ! Once rolling its a different matter and the midrange is wicked, my other half says her stomach goes every time I put my foot down, I love that, and with 600bhp sure it will be even more fun, but as soon as I come to a corner or its wet you wouldn't want to floor it without a lot of trouble (o.k. fun, but scarey). Now I have a very quick car, I am looking into ways of making it easier to use that power I've got, without wasting it. My 2p. Olly.

Watch out if your buying a cd player head unit as some of them only have the frequency for american radio stations, but any speakers that are 4ohm (some are 8ohm in the states) are fine and all amps, graphic equalisers, crossovers etc are the same. Olly.

I had been driving around and everything was fine. Got onto a nice long straight and accelerated suddenly the steering wheel was pointing quite a bit to the left even though it was still going in a straight line ! Now when I turn into or go around corners it seems I am turning the wheel twice as much as I used to and full lock doesn't seem to turn as much anymore ! Anyone ever had this or know what it could be ??? A little worried as I don't want to be doing 170 and can't steer it properly !!!! Olly.

Have been running mine with a mines vx-rom for about 8 months and it runs perfect !!! Very strong in the midrange. Olly.

O.K. Mac I had you going for a bit :D, I don't have the 18g's just hybrids with standard injectors, thinking about it though. Soz. Single Maf with Blitz filter, straight through exhausts with not a single box, HKS boost controller, apexi s-afcII and turbo xs RFL valves. Thats the truth this time, just wanted to worry ya for a bit :) I will come and watch though if thats alright ? I want to see who wins and yours and stu's cars in the flesh so to speak.

I have the TDO5H-18G's and 720cc injectors with a tuned mines vx-rom, dual apexi maf and apexi s-afc II plus a hks boost controller and apexi s-itc ingnition controller. Uprated Trust intercoolers and twin turboxs RFL dump valves. Would it be o.k. for me to come and kick mac's and stu's ass both together ?

OK then, but he hasn't changed any pipe sizes AFAIK so the pressure remains the same and the engine sees 8PSI. In fact with hybrid turbos, they normally lower the inlet temperature slightly at the same pressure as a smaller/normal turbocharger as they are not working as hard ! If you had a straw and put 8psi through it using a 1.5hp compressor and then used a 2 hp compressor pushing 8psi through it it would be exactly the same !, but the 2hp compressor would be able to push that 8psi for longer and wouldn't push the compressor to work as hard ! Olly.

8psi is 8psi whether it comes out of a T1 or a T70R HKS Roller Bearing monster. 8 psi is also higher than 6 psi stock boost without the solenoids but lower than the 9.5psi standard boost with them connected ! Detonation should not be an issue here, he even has uprated intercoolers to lower the induction temperature. I would go with retarded ignition due to an fault with the det. sensor, whether intermittent or not, or a lean air/fuel ratio caused by any number of things. i.e. fuuel pump voltage, wrong code for dual maf or not setup correctly in the s-afc for dual maf. Olly.

Any one know roughly what boost pressure I should run ? I have a 1991 Twin Turbo with HKS turbos, standard intercoolers, a mines vx-rom chip, hks dump valves, a straight through exhaust, Blitz Air Filter and a HKS EVC IV boost controller. I was thinking of setting it to 1.00 kg/cm2 which is 0.97 bar/14.1 psi for the low setting and 1.15kg/cm2 which is 1.13 bar/16.3psi for the high setting and 1.25 kg/cm2 which is 1.22bar/17.7psi as my safety cut off/alarm ? What are other people running with a setup like this ? I will soon be installing an Apexi S-AFC II which is in my bedroom at the mo ! Cheers, Olly.

How can you put twin boost guages on as there is a balance bar so you won't be able to separate the two turbos to monitor ?

I do like that Supra but I've driven one and my Z will leave it 4 dead and I'll look better doing it. Like you said "styling,performance and drivability" that will do me ! Get another Z you know it makes sense.

Are you lot telling me the standard interior looks better than that ! I think it looks pretty mad, how many of you lot have boring 300zx standard interiors ! :o Only saying this cause I have changed my interior for black and chrome leather with carbon fibre ! :eek: Olly. :D
