A question of Paint!
All you need is 1 can of plastic primer/bumper primer, 1 can of your red paint/top coat. Some various grades of wet and dry sandpaper and some tack rags. I would go with 240, 400/600, 800, 1200, 1500. You will only need 1 sheet of each for that job. All available from Halfrauds ! Mask off area all around, make sure to cover anything you do not want paint on ! Start by washing area down to remove surface dust and then take some 240 grit paper and begin sanding it down. Once you feel there is less resistance from the paper (you'll know what I mean when you do it !) move on to the next finer grade of paper, 400/600 and so on until you finish with 800 grit. Wash it over once more and completely dry it. Go over it with a tack rag to remove any dust and dirt still on the panel. The fun begins ! Take your plastic primer and shake the can for a good 2 minutes or as long as you wish ! The more you shake it the better the mix of paint. Get an old piece of paper/card and spray a test patch to make sure the can is spraying a nice pattern and not throwing out blobs. Then proceed to spray from left to right or right to left, holding the can roughly 6" away from the panel. Don't stop in the middle and go past the edge of the panel to make sure you have paint on the edges and completely cover the panel in question. Leave to dry/flash off and then apply a second coat. Leave this to dry for about 1 hour. Whilst this is drying cut up some 1200 grit pieces of wet and dry paper and place them in a bowl of water with two drops of washing up liquid in and let them soak. Go out to the car with the bowl and take a piece of the soaked 1200 grit paper and rub the primer down that you just sprayed on, don't push down hard on the paper as you just want to smooth out the primer ready for top coat. Dry the area off and again wash it down and dry it. Take a tack rag and go over the panel again to remove dust and dirt. Take your red top coat and begin shaking the can for 2 minutes. Apply the red in the same way as the primer and don't forget to test spray on paper/card. Once you have applied 3-4 coats and it is completely red, allow it to dry/flash off for 10 mins and then remove the masking tape/paper. When removing the masking tape/paper, take a very sharp blade, stanley's are fine for this, go around the outside of your newly painted object with the blade to separate the paint from the paper/tape. Almost as if you are cutting out the piece you have just sprayed. Now you may remove the masking paper/tape completely and leave your newly finished panel to dry for at least 24 - 48 hours. If you really wish to make it shine then take the 1500 and soak it as the 1200 grit before. Go over the panel with the 1500 and smooth it down. Wipe of the surface dust and the panel will look dull and scratched. Take some rubbing compound and a clean cloth and begin to rub it over the paint in a circular motion, you want to remove all of the scratches that the 1500 grit put on it so keep going until they are all gone. Then get a clean cloth and wipe off any excess compound still there. It may now be looking quite shiney, but you haven't finished yet, get some car wax (Autoglym, Zymol, Meguirs etc) and apply some to a new cloth and go over the panel again polishing out any marks left by the compound and leave to dry for 10 mins. Get a nice clean polishing cloth and remove all traces of polish to reveal a beautifully painted, sealed and finished front panel. Stand back and admire the new look ! Good Luck :D Olly.

I would check you do not have an air lock as the Z is prone to them when re-filling the coolant and an airlock would cause this ! Olly.

F**king ebay tossers
Now your talking Twinpier I like the iron blocks 1 lol I might even try that the bunch of to55ers ! Just been on to the bank and at first, because I had paid by direct debit, the best way to pay paypal (according to paypal), they said I couldn't get it back. So I got put through to direct debits and they have done a direct debit indemnity and I will have the money back in the account 24 - 48 hours time, result :hyper: But I am still gonna find this guy ! A lesson for all I think. If u do use paypal pay by credit card and not direct debit, never cancel a paypal resolution case until you have actually got a refund in your hand or the goods and get the sellers info as soon as youv'e won the item (cheers speedemon !).

F**king ebay tossers
Yeah, thanks guys, for the support, I will find this bloke I promise, Coldeyes that is a brill idea I will get e-mailing his previous mugs, see if I can find an address. As for the baseball bat, he will be getting a whole lot more than that from me as I have had it with people doing the dirty on me ! :nono: He said his name was Mark. The worst thing is he seemed to be very genuine and said he knew Mac and a few of the others on the board, spurted out about his gorgeous SWB which he said was pushing 480 bhp and goes to quite a few meets, not a nice way to treat a fellow Zedder or board member :nono: Anyone else got any bright ideas what I can do ? All help very much appreciated, Olly.

F**king ebay tossers
Bought a strosek rear light panel from a bloke on ebay over a month ago and never received it. So I put in a buyer complaint as I didn't get any reply to my emails and now the user is not registered anymore I can't get his details. The day before the buyer complaint was about to be rewarded to me I get a phone call from said bloke who swears blind he will post it on Monday, so I withdrew the complaint. I still have not received the item or any contact and now that I have closed the case I cannot even get my money back ! Maybe someone on here knows who he is as he spoke about the club quite a bit and he has a swb twin turbo and goes to meets etc, it is quite done up by the way he was speaking. I think his name is Mark, he said he would probably see me at a meet sometime but trust me mate if you are reading this you don't want to bump into me :nono: His ebay username is : lookatmyothgear and the email address is : heartcare@hotmail.com

Are 2 subs better than 1??
I would enlarge them to accept a 10" then fill it with loft insulation or alike which will give them enough air each. Go for a half decent sub, something like MTX, Kicker, Alpine Type R and get a small monoblock amp to power them. You will get a very good sound, punchy and still drop low enough with the 10's without increasing box size or space required ! Let me know what ya decide and give us some pics when finished  Olly.
-
Are 2 subs better than 1??
You will never get 8" subs to drop real low unless they are very expensive, but you can get them to sound nice. Those kickers should sound o.k. and aren't too expensive. If your boxes are completely empty then before fitting the subs in put some loft insulation in there from b&q, stuff it right in at the back and then put in your subs. It makes the subs think the box is bigger than it actually is and you will get good punchy bass. If you really want a good kick, can you not enlarge the holes in the box to a 10" most 10's use a 9" hole ! 8's imho are too small to provide decent bass. They are o.k. for a very small car with very small room and serve a purpose but in a zed 10's at least ;)

What amp for these subs???
Excellent choice, 1200w rms into two kicker L5's luverly ! Post up some pics of them installed or write up on how they sound mate as I haven't really heard the L5's yet with a kicker amp and it would be nice to know if they sound good together ? Olly.

scuffing brakes
When you fitted new pads did you transfer the anitsqueal shims over to the new pads and copper grease the backs of the pads ? If not, they will squeal like buggery !!!
-
What amp for these subs???
I'm pretty sure the L5 Kicker's take about 750w rms but do check. If the subs are single 4ohm then you will need to get an amp that supplies around 1200 to 1400 w rms into a 2ohm load. If the Voodoo does that then go for it as they are pretty good amps. The Kicker would only be pushing out around 600 w rms at a 2ohm load. If your subs are dual voice coil 4 ohm then you will be able to wire them both to see a 1ohm load at the amp and the kicker would then be fine as it will give each sub 600w rms which is ideal. Olly.
-
What amp for these subs???
Yes I did lol ! I was just trying to point out that you do not want to heavily under-power any subs as this will fry them quicker than overpowering them. If the subs require 600w rms then 450w/550w rms is more like it not 300 w rms.
-
What amp for these subs???
That is true to some extent but you would want more like 3/4 of the rms of the subs so if they are 600w rms each you would want 450w rms to each sub, if you underpower them they will distort and distortion will kill any speakers !
-
What amp for these subs???
The kicker everytime, don't rate the Lanzars at all Im afraid, had 3 of them and they all blew up running low loads and outputs, not built too good ! The kicker on the other hand is a nice amp and will go perfectly with your subs. Olly.
