  3. I had a nightmare doing mine and am now thinking they supplied the wrong belt.... Fitted engine a while ago but not fired up yet.... I am gonna pull the covers and double check everything now.... I had the problem that after rotating the bottom pulley using a ratchet, none of the timing marks would line up again.... I am gonna pull belt and start again to be sure.... Now I am second guessing myself as I did it a year ago.....I was in a hurry to get engine fitted into car as we were moving home the next day and car needed to be low loaded to new house.... I will do it when I pull the plenum and do delete's..... Better to be safe.....lol Hi Coju, Just follow instructions and advice.... make sure that marks are in the right place, belt doesn't slip and you will be fine... I used wooden dowel rod to check no1 was at TDC with plug removed..... If your not sure, double check and then check again....

  5. Nope, you wouldn't bird..... trust me.... I did it for years....lol We got some very mentally challenged customers looking to completely rebuild engines, working on braking.... I wouldn't have trusted them to make a sandwich let alone rebuild brake callipers. etc......lol They usually returned saying the parts were wrong or faulty.... Not that they had no idea how to fit them....lol It then usually ended up with us fitting them for them...... I must admit I loved running my own parts shop...... Great fun.... shame about some of the customers though.....lol
  6. Nooooo Don't do it Frazer, There's plenty of help on here as well as professional services offered.... And I'm not talking about doctors checking your prostate......pmsl If you were closer to me I would gladly give up some free time to help you get head gaskets done...... I have realised there are a lot of very decent and helpful people on here that are willing to go the extra mile.... it's like (dare I say it!) VW owners used to be like.....lol And they have good sense of humour..... Especially with pink starfish tattoo's .......
  7. Hi Jeff, This is just how my engine arrived on a pallet..... I have loads of spare connectors with short stubby wires now if any of mine break....lol It appears that the people who break them cannot use spanners or screwdrivers only cutters and saws.......... makes me worry what else they took shortcuts on...... Russ
  8. Welcome to the forum...... Not that I have been here long.....lol
  9. I used to use kendall 5w 40 fully synthetic oil on mine...... least I would use would be Castrol GTX magnetec fully synthetic..... I also only use good quality filters when servicing.... Coopers are what I used to sell in my old shop....lol I have used diesel magnatec as I dumped my cats a while ago, but found out that the additive detergents will try to clean the cylinder walls as they are designed to do and causes a loss of compression between the rings and liners... This can actually cause a loss in performance and compression..... Not what you want.... I used to use it on my old car for a week to clean out the engine and then put a good quality oil and filter back on and in....lol But then I used to do oil and filter changes once a month..... very anal..... now my daily runner is lucky at once a year.....lol
  10. I have been with flux before and had "modified insurance", the car was stolen and I only got the book value..... I had been sold the policy as anything happens I have declared the mod's so I would get most of my money back........oh no........ I lost £15,000 for all the modifications, stereo, etc.... Never go there again personally..... Agreed value, fully comp, everything declared..... not worth taking a risk.... I am gonna try a couple of others and see if they will beat £260.......lol
  11. Thanks for that, I was getting nervous as I binned them a few months ago....lol Worst quote was £9900 from insure 2 drive on Confused dot com ...... lol My wife just looked and said the nissan is going...... It did cause a bit of friction for a week or so.....lol Anyone else had one that high?
  12. I am now looking at how much to insure when I finally pull my finger out and get my Z back on the road.... Let alone taxing it.. and the MOT.... Does anyone know if the emissions come into play with a 1991 Z...? I threw away the cats and went straight through 3 inch pipework.... I got a quote for agreed value (needs a written valuation done), fully comp, Garaged, 5000 miles limit, £250 excess, £75 glass excess, All mods declared, includes legal and breakdown recovery and buy back in case of write off...... Was quoted by LynBrook £269.69..... Is that a competitive price?? Haven't used my car for 6 years and last paid about £850 fully comp.....:w00t: Cheers
  13. Perhaps he's in " The bermuda triangle?"....lol "Oh Well"....
  14. Hey bird, she looks gorgeous.... how's the sleeping, feeds and nappies going?...lol Lovely pics, congratulations mate.... Russ
  15. Yay, a 2013 revival.......lol I built these to work underneath mine..... Jack her up and you can scoot underneath on a creeper..... They are in 2 sections so you can take the car up in 2 stages..... Very very sturdy, better than axle stands....
  16. Typical, I am missing all the fun again living down here in essex........lol I could have done with you lot as doing the same on my driveway sometime soon, well as soon as I get the rest of the bits done....lol Hope it all goes well guys... Russ
  17. So this is how you get a bird in your Z?.....lol Any idea what type of bird it is...? At least it wasn't a fat pigeon taking out your front end..... Did you go for a roadkill dinner option???.....lol
  18. Looks like it is already catching on.........ROFL.....
  19. Happy Birthday Andy300zx...........:happybday:
  20. Hi Taff, 4 pk is the amount of ribs on it (4 ribbed) 862 is the length....... If you get stuck and still can't get it done I maybe able to sneak over to colchester sometime and have a look? It would be nice to look at a 300zx engine that isn't in millions of bits for a change..... might kick me up the bum to actually get under my car and start bolting bits back on her......lol Russ
  21. If I still ran a car spares shop I would stock them for the local chav's.......lol They look awful......lol
  22. Looks like the guy in middle is peeing in the pool......lol Enjoy your swim......:tt2:.....lol Don't you just hate people who go on holiday and then post pics for those of us who are skint to drool over......lol Have a nice holiday.....Grrrr lol
  23. I took out aloy radiator and began making templates to start fabricating an electric fan cowling from some fibreglass...... It was fun and makes me think back to my audio day's.....lol I think a new system is going to be fitted as soon as I get through the N/A to TT conversion and sorting out the bodywork.....lol I spent ages looking at the boxes and boxes of speakers, amps, wiring, power caps, head units, cd multi plays, monitor screens, etc.... sitting in my workshop ready to go into her when she is running again....lol Oh well, start working on her again on tuesday.....lol
