  2. Well I made some plates up and ground out all the rotten metal..... I made a patch that fitted the bent and buckled floor. I just made a piece that went over the buckled bit and fitted flush round the edges... Looked great, tacked it on and then started to blow holes in what's left of the floorpan.....lol I had the welder set the same as I had in setup and practice pieces and all i got was spatter and holes.... I ground down my cock ups and tried again... Some of the small holes have been filled with weld and ground down flat again, so most of the holes are filled with weld.... I welded inside the car to make life easier and beat the floorpan to touch the replacement plate above it... I then welded from underneath, joining the holes to the plate. Working round the edges of the holes so it is now one piece... The welding did not go well and looks rough.... So I am going to grind down the welds and try to tidy up and do a lot more practice tomorrow.... I ground out the jacking point and found it is the closing plate of the inner seal that has rotted.... I have a new piece folded and cut to size, but now I am extremely nervous to try and weld this on.... I am going to try to get the area nice and clean before I try welding anything again. I need to use a narrow wire brush on the drill to be able to get to the bits I need to weld up.... I am also going to degrease the fabricated panel again to make sure it is really clean. Back to square one.... I even tried to find a welder locally to do this, but don't want anyone seeing my bodge job, so bottled it.....lol What's best way to attach the replacement panel I made? Plug weld it or try to tack it on? Sorry everyone that has advised me..... I need more practice... Russ
  3. Thanks Trev...... sorry mate didn't mean to sound like I was not grateful for you trying to help us all...... And you are right, that is a big saving if you buy both....... Mine isn't on B&Q website anymore and it looks like the halfords one. I wanted a new snap-on one but funds were lacking......lol So you back yet???
  4. I'm in sarfend.....lol Well Leigh on sea.... Just outside.... The posh bit.....lol I did my apprenticeship in Dagenham..... Thameside training centre at Fords..... I got a few bits powder coated a few years ago (Plenum and water pipes) and they charged a fortune and cocked it right up.... I may have to look around and see if I can find a decent one round here again as yours looks very nicely done.....
  5. Hi Terry, Where did you get the plenum done? Or did it come coated?? I bet you lie awake looking at all the parts and then have lovely dreams of when it is all done and together.....lol
  6. Good luck and have fingers and toes crossed that it will go well and you also get a date for the main OP......
  7. OMG.... you okay.....? When did your car get vandalised and made over by an MG loving devil worshiper.............:smartass::sweatdrop::innocent:
  8. View from inside of what I am faced with.... Is the floorpan usually welded to the inner sill? Mine has a gap of about 3mm where the car took a major side impact and buckled the floorpan. They replaced the entire inner and outer sill, but just beat the floor as straight as they could and seam sealed and left it with splits that have now rotted through... They covered these with seam sealer and underseal by the look of it..... A leaky roof and 6 years sitting outside have left moisture sitting on the already damaged floorpan and helped it rot away.... I am going to spot weld the inner sill to the floorpan bit by bit and try to knock it all back to shape.... out comes my dolly and shrinking hammer.....lol
  9. Well got the front corner for the floorpan repair made, the patch to replace the floor bung and the front sill section roughly made, but can't finish till I grind the jacking point out and see what is left Tomorrow is attempt 1 at welding up..... wish me luck......lol Going to start with the patch on the bottom left from inside the car, plus I have found the previous accident damage wasn't done properly as they left the floor pulled away from inner sill and just seam sealed it!!! There was a ton of silicone sealant and a big gap due to the floorpan being buckled..... I am going to attempt to straighten and close the gap now it is all bare metal and sealant removed.... Using a bolster chisel to knock back the floorpan to the inner sill and then tack weld it together again...... I am going to go and get a few pics in a moment.....
  10. I got mine from B&Q new for £99 with bottom section.....

  13. First port of call would be talk to manufacturers tech help...... http://support.wdc.com/country/country.asp?c=unitedkingdom I also found this article on their site.... http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/search/1/a_id/505/c/130/p/228,260,319 They have their own recommended data recovery companies if you need one.... Usually they will be able to advise and sort out most problems, they talked me through mine last time and it got sorted.... Just found I can't unlock mine as password has been changed..... do you use WD smart ware?
  14. Hi Gray, Hi Noz, Can I just throw a suggestion that it could have been something thrown up on the road whilst on the transporter on the way down to Noz? If another car kicked up a lump of rock? It looks like nobody is sure what happened. I can see Noz isn't trying to avoid sorting this as per his posts and I know how we all feel about our cars and how Gray feels.... It looks to me like Noz is being reasonable as I would expect him to be knowing his reputation for helping us all out....... Looks like best solution is speak to Noel directly and work out an amicable solution..... It's just a shame to see this become a post on a public forum..... Just my 2 penny, no offence to either party.....
  15. Fram and Coopers are good makes if that helps.......... I used them on mine for years with no problems..... I used to run a motor factors, a few years ago and used to get them for peanuts..... 19. I wish there had been.... I have made a small section to replace the front floor corner and will post a pic in the next few days.... Have had some issues with an emergency placement with the fostering, so have had lots of police visits and disruption in the past few weeks.... and lack of sleep.....lol Will be officially out of work as of tomorrow with no more fostering till my son is 2 years old..... so have loads more time to work on car, but no money to do anything now....lol I have 1 argon bottle left, so going to make panels at weekend and try and get work done next week. If my wife lets me touch the car during the school holidays....lol
