My new front end - what do you reckon?
Pab, dont go for a sticky plate. that's for the reserve of MX5 and E Type owners. I think a good look is a number plate surround (ebay) and flush screw it to the front. then you can mount the plate with double sided tape for a flat, screw free finish :beta1:

Nice colour, shame about the rest?
Its a shame some of the money spent didnt go towards some uprated suspension links and uprated brakes, apart from that its a lot of car for the money and on rainy days even the ducks will have somewhere to play.

Just washed the Zed, good excuse to take a few piccies.....
if you look in the history file I gave you, there is a Z Centre brochure and I'm sure the wheel offsets are scribbled on the back.

Looking good Bud, Can I have it back now??? looks great with the panel gaps put back on the bumpers and it should stay looking that good now with no cracking or flakeing. The satin black panel helps to enhance the chrome rings, just need to polish the rims now..:whistling: Best thing for that by the way is T-cut followed by Rimwax. I tried many metal polishes on those rims but most are too abrasive. T-cut is abrasive but gentler and the ammonia in T-cut helps to lift off the oxidation. You can also use Brasso but I think T-cut had the edge on Brasso.

boost jets versus eletronic boost controller
I'm not sure why people bother with boost jets anymore (other than the fact there so easy to fit) If you dont want to spend out on an electronic boost controller fit a manual boost controller (Dawes Device) they are available on ebay for about £20 and they will control boost perfectly across the whole rev range. Just make sure its the sprung ball valve type and not the cheaper needle valve. And when fitted boost is still adjustable and not fixed as with jets. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TURBO-MANUAL-BOOST-CONTROLLER-NOT-BLEED-VALVE-/220537042109?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item33590834bd

two strokes
Its to increase the induction cycle. the cut away is normally on the inlet port side of the cylinder therefore increasing the amount of time the inlet port is open increasing the air / fuel charge in the crankcase. The cut aways are often a raised edge on the skirt or a single or twin holes in the piston wall. 2 stroke tuners, amongst other tricks usually enlarge these cut out to increase induction. I suspect you tried this resulting in weakened piston skirts and piston skirt fracture (big bang and engine seizes, sound familiar?)

I'm back with a new Zed!
It's a joke but the car does seem to have been unlucky this year with punctures.

I'm back with a new Zed!
Sorry Bud I forgot to mention when you bought the car, its got some ancient voodoo curse on the wheels and tyres. some Barsteward somewhere has got a little miniture of that car and every now and then they shove pins in it :cursing:

I'm back with a new Zed!
I hope your pleased with the car, I will miss the looks that the car gets wherever it goes. The "GB" badge is gone, was a magnetic one just for driving on the continent its always had them wheels on it Car.Mad? they are a bit dirty in the pics, usually gleaming polished alloy like this.

Looking at a Mitsubishi GTO advise please
Yes, I had a Mk1 TT and confirm that they are a great car to drive, really quick for a heavy car and solid and I loved it, However they have the worst transmissions of any Jap sports coupe (and interiors), Getrag boxes are rubbish (both 5 and later 6 speed versions have syncro issues and the transfer boxes and output shafts just fall to bits. they would have made a far better car if they hadnt tried to be so clever and just made the car a rear wheel drive with an inline engine and gearbox and it would have been easier to work on. But I've Digressed. with regards your rear spoiler problem. the "active aero" pack fitted to the GTO comprised the front AND rear spoiler but the front spoiler is often removed as it grounds when lowered. firstly you can check the rear spoiler lift mechanism by pressing and holding the active aero switch with the engine running and the spoiler should lift. if this is o.k. then you will need to jack up the front and check the front spoiler mechanism. There are limit switches in the front servo motor that must make to give a signal back to the aero system to make the rear aero lift. Often this unit is either unpluged to halt the mechanism and stop the front aero lowering or the front aero is removed. Or the limit switches are fooked. Afraid its a grovel on the floor job to see whats gone on..........Good luck.
