  1. Hey Gio, It's red wine time with me too ... perhaps there is something in this alter-ego after all! CheerZ, John.
  2. Me and my soon-to-be-ex fillings!;) James is right about the looks, though, top banana!:D
  3. James, I can almost guarantee that there'll be plenty of surf, and it will be blowing a hoolie all weekend long!! Reason: I have a week off to go fishing:mad: So cue the sh1t weather!!! Surf's up Pal!
  4. Thanks Rob ... very kind. I only wish I could claim the credit for it ... for that I need to defer to others past and present here! I have to say, though, when I went to see her, it was love at first sight!:D CheerZ, John.
  5. Rob, I think it depends on the company. With Bell Direct, it cost me another 35 quid for the aftermarket exhaust. They weren't interested in what type it was, just that it wasn't OEM. As for wheels, yes, I think this could also make a different; it's all down to "modified from standard" - just another way of them printing yet more money. Again, the chances are this will depend on the company. Have you discussed this with Budget, or was that quote on a non-modded Z? £1160, eh, doesn't sound as bad as some of the ridiculous quotes I've heard for someone of your age. Is that TPFT or Fully comp? CheerZ, John.
  6. Hey Paul, Next time you're bored in your lunch hour, perhaps you could fix my driver's electric window that doesn't work at all, along with my passengers electric seat!!:D :D The fact that the car came complete with a new window-motor in the boot, suggests that it's more than a dry solder joint! Something to look forward to at the weekend, since I'm home-alone!:D
  7. Good spot, James ... busted!!!:D :D So how did you come up with the screen-name, Stu? Bit of Travolta action on the side?
  8. Good effort James .... but you're right, you must have way too much time on your hands!!! BTW, what does ryhme with "John" at the risk of hearing something I don't really want to hear!;) Now, wouldn't it be a thing if the next Poet Laureate launched their career on 300zx.co.uk .... :p Despite working for a Publishing company, I'm not sure it's ready to be included in any forthcoming works just yet!!!:D
  9. Rob, Although I can't answer your questions, other than to say that the Z31 had "turbo" rather than "turbos", I'd suggest that you try posting this question on the z-club forum. It's free to register and there's a special forum dedicated to Z31s - also Mike Feeney knows *everything* there is to know about this sort of question and is very likely to reply to you.. The url is: http://www.zclub.net HTH, John.
  10. Stuart, I'll defer to that Essex knowledge of all things white and leather .... tee hee:D Have you ordered the switches for your neons yet??:D :D
  11. Hmmm, I wonder what all those switches in the picture do?? It's got a 007 feel about it!:D
  12. Aaron/Stuart, Thanks for the further advice ... looks like I might be able to manage it after all - just looks like a case of scraped sausage fingers. Might give it a go next weekend, then, or perhaps I might be feeling like a wuss!!!:D :D CheerZ Chaps, John.
  13. Cheers Stuart, Unfortuately, I have all the coordination and dexterity of a baboon, so I guess it's a mechanic job .... perhaps they'll have some YTS types with small hands:D :D Thanks for the help, but sounds a bit too much like hard work for me ... didn't think it could be simple, since it came with the new part not fitted!:D Arse!.
  14. Phil, No!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What are you doing? After our conversation on Friday, I though you had it bad .... this will NOT be satisfied by a third party MR2 .... Sell that VR4 and get yourself a daily driver!:D :D CheerZ, John.
  15. Stu, It's on the back of the door frame ... I guess this is part of the quarter panel. It's effectively behind the front of the rear wheel arch - I know, it's another crap description, but I've had a little too much wine now ... doh! John C, no, I don't have the adobe manual, but getting this is probably a good idea ... Cheerz Guys, John.
  16. Can anyone help me, please? I need to change the plate that sits behind the metal loop that the door catch closes on:confused: - sorry about that poor description, don't know a better way to describe it. One of the threads is knackered, by the look of it, has been bodged with a bolt, and so the door doesn't really shut quite properly, meaning that the microswitch in the door, doesn't get, well, switched ;) The problem is this - I have the part, but how on earth do I get to the back of the door frame to fit it? Also, I don't have a "door-open" warning light, is it busted, or do they simply not have them on Series 1s? Any advice much appreciated. ThankZ, John.
  17. Stu, I know what you mean! I had been with Bell for about 4 years and found them pretty helpful, until I got this latest Z, and "oh no, sorry sir we can't cover an import with an induction kit" FFS, it's not like it adds that much more power. OK, says I, a pain, but can you at least cover me to leave it in my garage over the weekend? - "No, sorry, because of the induction kit, it's more likely to get stolen, since it's more desirable" - only to someone with X-ray specs, methinks ... anyhow, frantically phone round all the rest, will you? So I ended up with Insurance Factory at 722 - all mods declared. Not too bad, I thought, although if some bugger hadn't wrecked the last one, Bell wanted 650 this year - arse! You're right - it's just made too damn difficult, God knows how Skylark owners get on ..... CheerZ, John.
  18. Wow, Andy, so now you're saying that 300s give you a *Life* - that's amazing, is there no limit to these cars powers??:D :D Don't think my Mrs would agree, she suspects that the car and the forum suggest I need to get one!;)
  19. Just as an aside ... in both of my previous Z's the only time they reached speeds of over 140 mph was when Mrs John-Boy was driving them ... naughty girl ... me, I'm too much of a wuss, worrying about silly things like my driving licence!:D :D I wouldn't say she exactly loves the Z, preferring something a little newer and shinier - I've told her she's got no soul, but to be fair, she is "supportive" of my need to own a Z;) Plenty of the ladies at work like the motor, though!:D

Hi Neil, Welcome. Sorry to hear about your previous Z - some nasty buggers out there! Anyhow, there's recently been a fairly lengthy discussion on this topic (mainly about the pros and cons of doing it yourself) ... try here This should bring up the recent discussion, but if you try "importing" in the search, you should get plenty of material back. CheerZ, John.
  21. Hmmm, not sure where I stand on this one .... I was in to Z's long before I was into IT - 240/260's in the old days, and of course when the 300zx TT came along (and more importantly when I could afford one) I simply had to have one! So it's a chicken and egg situation - did the Z's inspire me to follow a career in IT, or was there a latent "geekism" in me which caused me to like Z's in the meantime. I might add, however, that generally I find computers infernal machines, that invariably conspire to make your life harder ... there a means to an end, and no, I don't like computer games much. I might add, though, that Mrs John-Boy, thinks that the most geekish thing I do if forever looking at this bloody forum - so what does that make the rest of you non-IT-types, eh Nelson?:D :D
  22. Agreed, I'm a bit of an "alt-tab" man, myself It's all got a bit ridiculous here - even my PA says "oh no, not ZZZZZZZZ again!" - Busted. Still, I'm the boss, so who cares! And as for setting a good example, this entire location (and all aboard) are all being sliced in 6 months time, so fook it!:D
  23. "He shoots - He Scores":D :D Perhaps I should have a look at Goonies, then?
  24. Oh, I don't know, Macca .... The total and utter chaos caused by the 3-ish inches of white stuff yesterday shows how battle hardened we are down here:D Bet Tesco didn't have a loaf in sight yesterday Shot of Brandy in your Shandy, Sir?;) :D
  25. "Good Call, Stu" The Goonies, huh? Well, I aint never seen that film, so I don't think so ... Try again, Pete - "This man blows goats - I have proof":D
