  1. It sure was (and now Zairs unless I'm mistaken) and the 350 was mine. :hyper: BTW, that race was run twice and the first time it was much closer - the second time he lifted off to make his point about cars getting heavier and taking the edge of the performance. Which was the whole point at the time. In actual fact, it's quite misleading, as I think the 300 and 350 weigh roughly the same - it's just that the 300 is marginally a fast car as stock. Also, I know I've banged on about this before - but having just read all the shite accompanying the video on Youtube, it's just re-awakened the passion to set the record straight.
  2. I couldn't agree more - I do love the SWB, but always thought the petrol cap looks wrong somehow... Never been a 100% sure what the great thing about slick-tops is either - to me, one of the very best features of the car is the ability to cruise with the tops off, with none of the compromises of a convertible. Maybe it's the purist's choice, but for practicality and looks you can't beat a LWB in my book. All IMO of course. When I owned my 350, the things I missed most in order were: 1) turbo power! 2) back seats 3) t-tops...
  3. I think maybe they chase a smaller market, therefore stay for sale longer - I know when I was looking for my first Zed way back in 2001, I settled for an auto in the end, 'cos I couldn't find a manual for sale anywhere! If you look at any of those Jap sites that list cars coming up for auction, I'm pretty sure there's usually more autos than manuals... Could be wrong, of course
  4. Sickening - what more can you say... depressing more than anything. Sheesh.
  5. Spot on there, buddy - let's face it you can't legislate away every social ill - it all boils down to trying to teach these a-holes a bit of respect for others... Inappropriate use of fireworks by scrotoid should be answered once with a proper ticking off and a reminder of other peoples' rights and a second time with a battering from a local copper and confiscation of fireworks. :slap:
  6. Ahh, the good 'ole Sheraton Skyline, eh? Used to spend quite a few nights drinking cocktails in their bar, the night before departing on flights (in the days when I used to travel)... Loved the way it felt like the planes were coming through the roof!! Is the bar still on an island in the middle of the main atrium? One of the better airport hotels IMO, that one...
  7. Well, I've registered my details for updates - although, unless business goes really well, I suspect it may be a little dear for me - lol! 2009 seems a way off at the mo - assuming they do decide to bring it here. However, last time I did that, I ended up with one of the first 350s in the UK - so who knows... Speaks volumes that I'm back in a 300 though, I guess...
  8. Mind you - perhaps I should look harder at the list of sites before making "eyesight" related points!!! :smash: There's UK, large as life at the bottom of the list - doh!
  9. Ah-hah, but isn't that like saying an R8 looks like a TT, until you see one in the flesh? :p I agree there's design elements of the 350 in there, particularly at the front, but I can't wait to see one in the flesh -this is a performance bargain - why's there no UK site though, only Eire? Doesn't bode well for importing IMO...
  10. Jez, you might spot at least one courteous one, next time I'm on my way to Oxford (weekly commute) ... Not that mine's a diesel, mind - 4.4 litres of V8 running beautifully on LPG :nana2: I always wave at Zs though - enjoy seeing the confused reaction - unless I'm driving mine, of course...
  11. I've owned both and I'm currently in the BMW camp - I found the a4 very soul-less, when I tried it on extended test drive... I've had 2 beemers for my last 2 daily drives (first 2 in my life) and they've both been great, although I haven't had a 3-series. I'm also now of the opinion that it won't be long before Audi takes over the pole position in the stigma stakes - I'd say the number of tossers sat 2 inches from my bumper on the motorway ratio now has the A4 as the definite winner. BMW stigma is as clichéd these days as yuppies and 911s (unless it's an x5, of course, then all bets are off - stigma applies ;) ). All IMO, of course... CheerZ, JB.
  12. Ok - sorry, wrong choice of word - clearly, I wasn't suggesting you were smashing the room up - maybe "vehement" would have been better... BTW, as I said, not a criticism, it's just that I thought I held more entrenched black and white opinions than most people I meet, but I've always been impressed that you take it to a new level... ;) As it goes, I admire people with strength of conviction...
  13. I kinda take the point - I guess I had overlooked the sexy mechanics, however, surely drifting is all about visual effect, and therefore, a drift car needs to look good to compete effectively? BTW, Si, this is not meant as a criticism at all, but it seems to me you must find an imperfect world hard to deal with sometimes, when anything outside of pre-determined "Si" parameters provokes such a violent reaction!! :D :D CheerZ, JB.
  14. Just a thought - but have you looked at the orange that the Megane Sport comes in at the moment - I really like that... guranteed to stand out in a crowd... CheerZ, JB.
  15. Yep, I have to agree, I like it too... Doesn't look too luxurious on the inside though!! And yes, you would feel like a cock driving it... Overall, good effort IMO.
  16. Yep, you're quite right - never understood that entry for the 300zx, it seems in recent years, he's completely forgotten about that - has nothing but bad press for them. Nice to see it selected over all the other contemporary Japanese supercars though - don't remember seeing a GTO in there, for example!! :D
  17. Dan, I thought this item was plug & play - hence no set-up. If it's anything like my TechTom - you just plug it into the diagnostic socket under the steering column and then it gives a load of default screens with various readings. Could be wrong, of course... ;) CheerZ, JB.
  18. Cool, thanks for the answers - however, I'm talking about colour impregnated into the weave itself, as in the c/f in the link... but the thin coats of paint could be another way of doing it - would like to see the piccies if anyone can remember :D
  19. Actually, just found this: http://www.deftracing.com/carbon_fiber_hoods/color_carbon_fiber_hood_color_cf.htm Not so sure now... LOL.
  20. The recent thread about car colours got me thinking - I've always fancied a carbon fibre bonnet, as I love the look of c/f weave, but think that black is too much contrast on a red car and would spoil the overall look... However, the link to NZ orange zed said something about a coloured internal c/f kit and I've done a quick surf and found this: http://www.layby.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=3453&ReturnUrl=%2fCategories.aspx&CategoryID=6968 It's a red coloured c/f tank protector for a Ducatti, so it seems it can be done... I think it looks quite classy, as it goes... Does anyone on here know much about c/f and producing coloured c/f goods? I remember there used to be a few c/f gurus on here - Jaylox springs to mind... Anyone have any idea? Just a thought... CheerZ, JB.
  21. As far as I found out, however, this was another Royal balls-up of legislation brought to you by a load of people who didn't seem to know what they're on about. I believe that some of the cars disassembled to make the model reports were themselves not standard, thus, the model report requires a car to be taken back to a non-standard spec to get SVA approval. I'm not 100% sure, but I was looking to start up a website importing to order, specialising in this sort of area, a couple of years back, and this is what I found out from my UK contact in Japan. So I'm pretty sure it's true. What a farce. :mac1: Thank God for the 10 year rule!
  22. Hmmm... nice colour, but can't get over that Veilside front, I just don't like it. Shame, the rest of the C1 bodykit is nice. What is an "orange carbon fibre" interior kit? Can you even get coloured carbon fibre, i.e. sprayed with some sort of translucent coating? Just out of interest...
  23. Yeah - that does sound good - I must keep my eye out for it. Pearl white is a colour I've only recently come round to; now I really like it. I think sometimes the effects in paints can be a little disappointing, for instance, I had my last 300 resprayed in Civic Type-R, black with a blue metallic fleck - it looked great when polished and on really close inspection, but it never really shone like I had hoped it would... Guess I should have tried harder to find a clean Type-R beforehand! I really do like the idea of an orange 300, though - like that gorgeous pentroof z (extreme jeallousy). Conversely, however, I never liked the sunset colour on 350's too much, even though it was the colour Nissan chose to promote them in. I bought gunmetal for re-sale certainty, but perversely I think they look best in chilli red - which is a colour you very rarely see as it's hard to shift apparently. Strange. CheerZ, JB.
  24. I've seen a few, Si, (note I did say "bayside et al" - not just Bayside) and I've yet to see a blue zed that really floated my boat... I guess I was a little ambiguous, however, as I also didn't mean solely Zeds - after all , Estoril blue was the de-facto colour for an E36 M3 and there's plenty of them on the road. Whenever someone posts a colour questions - there's always a big clamour about Bayside blue, but I don't personally thinks it's a great option. As I said, IMO...
  25.      Just as an aside - isn't the Skyline in 2f2f silver? Just a minor point...
