  1. Possible, yes. Would I do it, no! It has been done, but would be such a pain in the arse to do. It would be a lot easier, & quicker just to pull the engine.
  2. It's hard to tell what's going on from that crap pic ;) Can you tell me whether it is steam or smoke? Can you hear any hissing? Like I said, very hard to tell from that pic, but check that your heater hoses aren’t leaking. They are located at the back of the engine, & run off the block to the firewall.
  3. Nice Zed mate, but why didn't you get your hose out and help them spray it down??? Also, in those group pics... it's ok to place your hands on them ;)
  4. My friend has some GREAT shots he took of my Zed that I'm dying to post up... but the ******* is never home & isn't answering his phone! Might have to break into his place and retrieve the pics from his computer myself.
  5. It's deffinitly not legal in Australia, & depending on what state you're in you can find youself with a MEGA fine. That said... I'm de-catted haha.

Have you ever cleaned your injector plugs? You could have a bad connection.
  7. You're in a good neighbour hood then by the sounds of things!
  8. A few different things can cause smoking exhaust, your PCV valve might be letting oil threw at idle, or your turbo seal could be on the way out. PCV replacement is cheap & easy (in caparison to replacing turbo) , that would be the first thing I’d do. I recommend you drop the passenger side exhaust & examine the turbine before you take the next line of action (pulling engine).
  9. When you say turbo leak, to you mean loose clamps? Or that the turbo itself is stuffed and needs to be pulled out? You can reach the passenger side turbo by removing the battery, but removing is another matter.
  10. Zed's are know to suffer from "lifter tapping". Does it only happen when cold? There are products you can add to the engine oil that should help clean all the gunk that could be blocking your lifters etc... you need to do a oil change soon after adding it. So could be a good idea to do that also. Good luck.
  11. I have been trying to find info on my M's FBC. Anyway to cut a long story short, I changed some setting on it recently... & boy what a difference. Ive had it set to 0.6 bar. The FBC has a built in digital vacc/boost gauge. My question is, at idle it reads -44. Now before the recent changes, when I boosted it I'd be lucky to reach over +50. Now though, after the recent changes I've made (but still set to 0.6 bar), when I put my foot down 3/4... the turbos scream a lot louder and I'm hitting +79 already. This sound right, or am I running way more boost than 0.6 bar? I've been to scared to floor it  Thanks, Jono
  12. You have over filled the engine oil. This will cause your exhaust to smoke, your oil pressure will be way over, forcing oil past the seals. Drain the oil and refill.
  13. Hi guy's & girls... I've had a carbon fibre vented bonnet fitted for a few months now. I plan on getting a carbon fibre nose panel soon, to finish off the look. But I'm unsure which look I prefere, the clean stock bonnet, or the aggressive (get the f#*K out of the way) bonnet. Would like your input to which you prefere, & what you'd do. Stock bonnet Carbon bonnet
  14. I did it the long way, heated the indicators up in the door of the oven (& used a hair dryer) & pulled the front cover off. This way can be dangerous, as the cover is very thin & will easily snap. I clear a pair for my mate recently, I strongly recommend doing it this way. I just melted a hole into the orange screen (from the inside) with a soldering iron. Then you just use some long, needle nose pliers (with the little bent in them) and break the orange screen into little pieces that can be pulled out threw the hole… EASY!
  15. Hey lymon, did you find those pics on aus300zx.com? That's Andrew's engine pictured above. Very good idea, I'd love to do the same but I'm going to stick to the factory layout (only because I need the Zed back on the road ASAP)
  16. You should adjust it to .45V, then unplug the sensor for at least 15 seconds (with engine running) to reset the ECU. If your base idle is then too high, adjust it accordingly with the idle control screw.
  17. Also, may sure you unplug the sensor after correctly adjusting it for at least 15 seconds while engine is running to reset the ECU.
  18. Are you talking about the TPS (Throttle position sensor) which is located on the side of the LHS throttle body? If so, you need to check the voltage to the white wire (middle wire from memory) and set it to anything between 0.44v-0.46v
  19. Mate, if you've cleaned out the PCV and it has stopped the smoking it can't be turbo seal. You know how I said I had a similar problem, & everyone I had spoken to had said "turbo seal". Well I dropped my exhaust to examine the turbo's on Friday, & to my delight they where clean as a whistle with no shaft play at all. Next thing to do for me is replace PCV system (but I suspect worn valve stem seal to be the culprit). Just keep an eye on it, enjoy your Zed. If problem persists, visit your local Zed guru ;)
  20. Can't edit! fairladyzgirl, it's a replacement for the stock (boring) throttle cable cover. Take two: Cheers Smithy, Luck for me I'm good friends with Caz ;)
  21. Thanks Cheers Smithy, Luck for me I'm good friends with her ;)
  22. The same amount of time... I just don't feel as guilty. My ex use to sit on the lawn & watch me while I was under the car, or working under the bonnet... Poor girl, I had to cut her loose (plus she was shittin' me HAHA).
  23. That's the reason I split with my missus, couldn't give her the same amount of time the Zed was recieving :)
  24. Wow, what a great idea. That would work really well in my engine bay. Do you want to sponsor a Zed from down under? ;)
  25. Is there no one who has done this? Come on people, I'm going to attempt doing this in a weeks time when the engine is out.
