  1. I'm creating a cross reference chart, that i will put into FAQ. Basically i need any info you can provide on what parts from other cars can be used on a 300zx. The format im trying to sort it in to is: Part Required - 300zx Part from - Donor car Location on donor car Member- who has tried and it works. Any modding needed.. Comments - Direct swap / part number if possible Example. 300zx rear number plate bulb cover. Any similar year Micra upto 2000. Rear number plate bulb cover same item No modding, but Nissan use different part number. Im working through an old thread, at the mo, cross referencing parts we can use from other cars. Once i have a few parts, i will create a thread in FAQ, and make it as easy as possible to locate and replace some of the items that are becoming rarer. You help is greatly appreciated folks. This will benefit all of us. Stu
  2. Good man. Time flys when your having fun.
  3. the clutch is on its way out, there is an adjustment you can do to get a few more mile out of it, search for clutch pedal adjustment, but this will not sort it out, but will get you time to save a few pennies. I went for a uprated excedy clutch, complete kit. works great. im running full stainless decat, blitz filter, and boost jets. On dyno at 1 bar. Easily handles the power, and i dont hang around. Depends what your budget is, and how far will you take mods for power increase. Jeff at zedworld does some good uprated kits.
  4. MMMMMMMMMMMMM. denise van outen...... Makes me wanna go watch ' love honur and obey'.
  5. Sparky, you are the first person ive ever known who had a mantis as a pet. How cool!!!! shouldnt be called a mantis, should be a praying "dontfookwithme" mantis.
  6. Cool, nice to find out some history about the club. I for one, agree that if a longstanding member whether commitee, admin or mod role, is a pure benefit to the club, then i have no probs with their subs being covered. I pay, and am happy to continue paying. I enjoy being a moderator, and offer as much advice and help to anyone, that i can. For me it is the club and the folks on here, discussions, and banter thant make it all worth while. Long may it continue. Stu
  7. Get rid of the fogs, crystal clear indicators and mod the unit to accept the side lights, and fit some of car mads fog light ducts. What bumper is that? looks like a scarab. Very nice either way.
  8. Anthony, if the handbrake is not engaged, it could be one of three possibilites, why you cannot remove the disk. 1. check the adjustment on the cable under the handbrake, this will require removal of the the centre consol. using a 10mm spanner undo the nut on the cable, to free up or slacken both cables. this will assist you later. 2. Once rear wheel is removed, on disk, you may see a phillips head screw. some zeds have them some dont. this will need removing to enable removing the disk. Very rarley can they be just undone with a screwdriver, hence an impact driver with suitable philips head that is not too big or to small, use the type that you can hit with a hammer and make sure it is set to unwind not tighen, as you will strip the head and then be forced to drill out and replace. 3. Following number 1, with the handbrake in the off position, and cable loosened, on the disk is a rubber grommet on the outer edge, set this to 6 o'clock, prise this out, and it will reveal an adjuster, using a flat screwdriver, you can adjust the inner shoes, either loosen to get the dam disk off, or when its off, clean all parts with brake cleaner, and lubricate. Put disk back on, and adjust the shoes to touch the inner of the drum, then back 1/4 of a turn, to enable free spinning of the drum/disk. HAve a look at this, should make it clearer. http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=br&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=24&design=default&total=56 Once done also stops the handbrake lever looking like an old. style fruit machine. Stu
  9. welcome bud. Typical Mikey called bum boy within a few minutes of saying hello....lol
  10. good on you gaz, nice and helpful, a true gent to the club. Nice looking zed. Hope it all works out
  11. Looks great Alan, nice and stealthly. Defo a wolf in sheeps clothing. Looks a totally differnt car to when you first got it. Keep at it mate. stu
  12. As my zed being poorly, and needing new sills doing. i have neglected her for a fair while. but due to the weather being fairly good today. i put on the jump leads and connected her up. Even though the zed has sat still, untouched and unloved for nearly 6 weeks. I thought there might be a few issues. But with less than a full turn, it started instantly, little bit of condensation smoke from the exhausts, but gone after a couple of minutes. purred away quite happily. Everything working and sounds great. Sat and watched all the dials for a time, all in order.everything working as it should. Managed to give a decent wash and polish. still looks great. but just wanting to go out and play. Hopefully get welding the new sills, inners and outer returns in the next few weeks, and then get the zed taxed and tested. and out to have some fun. Due to other major commitments money wise and things out of my control, it is on hold for the time being, but the odd private job here and there, and it wont be long. Cant wait. need to drive her again and leave some rubber on the the streets of sussex. :cool3:
  13. did the same thing mate, on my old zed tried to bleed, but engine too hot. plastic bleed screw went towards the sky and lost forever. As a temp repair, i used a nut either m10 or m12, with ptfe tape around the thread. Held until i sourced a new one
  14. looks good, glad you changed to the metal gears too. very handy mod, and not that hard to do.
  15. have a look at this thread, if this is the part you need, then i cant help. might be worth a call to jeff at zedworld, http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=107014&highlight=plastic+clip+key+barrel
  16. where in sussex are you mate? i have a spares, but cant work out what you need.
  17. may sound daft, but after fixing the leak. did you top up the system, by just filling th rad to top.? if so Or did you wait till it was warm, with bleed valve and rad cap off, and make sure heaters were set to hot,and car jacked up as much as poss at front you may have an air lock.
  18. welcome steph, nice to see another owner down south. As stated if any help or advice needed, just ask we are here to help.
  19. 8. Fitting new lock. Now is a reversal of removal. fit larger bar first to lock, then the smaller, ensure clip is located back on bar. place back in door, and slide lock backwards to secure, refit the screw. Before refitting the panel, make sure lock works, and can be locked/unlocked using key. Refit panel, and check all clips are lined up, all screws back in. The only exception is that my uk zed is a series 3, if an early import, the lower part of door mounted seatbelt will also need removing. I used a pair of chrome locks from a ford maverick that cost me a fiver from a scrappies. Also Nissan Terrano 2. locks are the same. They look the nuts, even though it seems very complicated, took me less than 10 mins per side to do. try it. Stu
  20. A quick how to fit new chrome door handles. Tools. Phillips screwdriver with magnetic head. small electrician flat blade screwdriver. This is for both sides, each have same screws / clips in locations, apart from drivers window switches. 1. wind fully open windows, to expose, remove black cover on outside with flat blade to find screw behind, and remove 2. remove interior panel to locate two screws, also held in with clip. 3. Onto the door card. it is secured, by a number of screws and clips along the bottom. 2 x screws on hinge end, 1 x screw beside the lock (opposite end of panel) clips along bottom and one clip just below interior panel just removed. Drivers window switches 2 x in little cubby hole behind switches under small bit of fabric. Passenger side interior door handle, remove 2 x rubber grommets to locate 4. Remove outer cover of door lock handle on panel with flat blade. be carefull, not to much force, its held in 4 places, with plastic clips. the lock is held in with a screw, but easier to remove once panel is off. 5.Remove panel, unplug the bottom clips first, working along the panel one at a time, when free, the panel will lift clear of the glass guide. 6. You should see this now, remove the screw and slide lock forward to release. 7. Now it becomes a bit fiddly. in order to not damge the mechanisim. Remove the lower bar first (thicker of the two), then unprise the plastic clip holding the smaller bar. Lock is now removed.
  21. I have just bought my girlfriend her first car. S reg nissan micra. You would be suprised how many bits of a micra we can salvage for our zeds, one in particular i have seen many threads on people needing are. 1. Number plate bulb holders and covers are identical, but different part numbers, Nissan charge a few quid for zed ones, and are getting rarer to find. 2. The interior light door switch rubber covers, situated near the door locks, are identical. 3. The door lock catches, again identical. 3. In the engine bay of a micra, there are a few electrical connections, both the male and female side are same as zed connections., If you are finding that you need the odd connector, catch or bulb holder. dont buy new ones, get yourself to a local scrappies, find a micra of anything upto a W reg, and fill your boots
  22. LOL really hard to read it as it is written. Brunged up to speaken proper england like.
  23. welcome mate, your in the right place, good luck with your zed hunt.
