6 speed box
I have been told the splines are the same for the s15 and z32boxes,so the clutch plate should fit,I was going to fit a cover from the z and plate from an s15..but as you said, the s15 has a dualmass flywheel, and is twice as thick as the standard z flywheel, therefore I dunno yet if the spigot shaft is long enough or too long.I will take some measurements and post them up 2moro,hopefully someone here can give the measurements if they have a manual box laying about,as I only have a dud autobox here for comparison.

6 speed box
ive read of s15 boxes being weaker than the s14 box,but thats when given abuse drifting etc. My slush box is knackered and I have the freshly built 6speed sat in my garage so I may aswell fit it as it wont cost me anything,Im an engineer to trade and have all the cutting and machining equipment/tools here,so its just afew nights here an there, if I lift the engine out for a trial run on the floor.I havnt put the two boxes side by side even so i dont know how awkward its going to be yet....

Just Put Deposit On My New Car!!!
Looks like its been left beside a heater for too long,,I think its melted on the bottom half:rofl: But seriously,,if it was mine,,a little colour coding and an A bar to hide the front grill,it'll be cool!

Front Tyres wearing on the inside edge
Cheapest route is to have the tracking checked, its the most common fault for wear on innertyre tread, again, pot holes and bumping kerbs all throw it out. Top tip*,,for any car,,to save some cash when you get to the the garage,,is to make sure the locking nuts on the track rod ends will open by using wd.40 and freeing them up,,saves time/labour at the garage 'cos somtimes they can be a pain to open.(if youre a keen diy'er obviously:p) If the tracking is ok,,then, next stage is to check your front bushes for wear and any play in the suspension and front wheel bearings.Good luck:nana2: (Camber is not adjustable unless you have an adjustable aftermarket set up.)

Yeah.He was a cool dude.

Christ the Evo guys hate the 300ZX!
pfft,,its obvious if the 300zx had a Mitsi badge on it they would love it over on the lancer register,,thats why they prefer the Gto,,lol,,gimme a Zed anyday!Pretty childish anyway..Who cares what they think?Scooby owners slag off Evo owners so on and so on.....

any good interior trimmers,Scot/north Eng.
Does anyone know of any good, reasonable priced trimmers/upholsterers in Scotland or the north of England?Gotta get my front seats done soon....

Front bumper
If its an aftermarket bumper thats a different ball game,I thought it was just a factory repaint. With fibreglass it all depends how good the fit is...can be time consuming to get right...if it is fibre glass then 300 might end up being reasonable.

Front bumper
I charge 180-200 for a straight re-paint on a stonechipped bumper for example.Too far away from you to offer you a deal though..lol

head gasket sniffer
Its a common misconception nowadays that if a head gasket fails the head should be skimmed, this is not so.In doing this (if its unnessary..) only thins the casting and in the event of a future serious overheating will likely result in the head cracking and be scrap, whereas if un skimmd would likely warp and be repairable with a light skim.. It usually needs a serious overheating to warp ie,driving the car for a period with it boiled. Theres also issues on a turbo motor running a higher compression ratio if you dont fit a thicker gasket.(although raised comp is good on a n/a motor) Check the head with a true straight edge,a proper engineers s/steel rule (theres straight and theres straight)or similar, and for about 25-30pounds for peace of mind get it pressure checked for any cracks if u like. In the past 15-20 years doing customers headgaskets id say 30% actually needed skimming, that was a change from cast heads which cracked so easilly to todays alloy heads.

those of you with bonnet vents...
Not on a zed,but on plenty other cars!Soggy air filters and that kind of thing, all depends where the vent is and how big it is i guess? That mitsi EVO bonnet vent with mesh was a killer lol!

Indiglo help
Do you have a picture of them in the car? I'm after pure white ones and wanted to use ultra bright led's so the whole face lit up...not keen on the ones with red and blue figures...lexus 4x4 have similar set up where the whole face is backlit white, real smart lookin..

another one with an autobox problem...
My non turbo import z has had a replacement autobox fitted to it prior to me owning it,unsure if it was a re-con,but more likely to have been out of a breaker.I dont think the car was used since swap.(wonder why?...) Ive not used the car either, since I bought it, as the trans fliud is leaking onto the exhaust and i dont want to ruin the box until i get underneath and fix the leak.Dunno where its coming from, car too low to see,no time to check yet lol,I assume its a cooler pipe or pan gasket? Problem is,although oil level is ok,the oil colour is nice and clean, and the car shifts through the gears ok, there is an awful whine/whizzing noise from the trans, noise level changes when sat at idle and shifting through, between the gears, say from park, into reverse or 1 into d. I'm just wondering has anybody else experienced this noise,I think the new box was fitted with the original torque convertor,as a spare came with the car... Word at the time of purchase was that the clutch bands or brake bands needed adjusting....I've adjusted bands before in autoboxes but the car shift points are pretty ok in this case and engine brakes fine....to be honest, the noise wasnt a concern as a manual conv.was on the cards, but I dont have much time at the moment so i'll have to stick with the autobox and get it working instead...Your experiences please would be appreciated, before I drop the box and swap torque convertor, incase I'm wasting time re fitting a dud 'box....

Hallo folks!
Just thought I'd say hi to everyone.Since joining I've now started on my own project zed - a car I never thought of owning, lol - its just by chance I ended up with this one!Its needing a fair amount(although rust free)to get to the standard I want it to be at,but Im in the bodystyling/paint trade so its just finding time to mould a fresh style bodykit and re-paint it that I need really! My plans for it are as follow,a new front bumper/side skirts/mirrors/tailspoiler extended and blended in/possibly mould some rear flares for the arches, depending what rims I get for it,I like the look of 18" and 19" on these so it depends what width I get.The interior is at the moment that grey tweed cloth which I dont like so black leather is a must although with black paint and a cream or tan interior also looks nice I think, but I'm undecided what to do the door cards/console and dashboard-I was thinking black alcantara seeing as I have some from a previous project, but having removed the centre console cloth I find its hard plastic,so I might paint them, but that leaves the door cards needing something doing to them, carbonfibre would be nice but time consuming to mould, which is what I'm short of. A cage is also tempting....even just a rear x cage, are there many zeds here caged?I'd be interested to see the setups available... All in all, other than a gearbox for a conversion(its auto) I have most bits needed to revive another old Z! :-)
