  1. could this mean ZX Racing are no longer trading? i just bought pair of apexi dump valves £350 through zx racing on the 12th and so far nothing. Unless it takes a couple of weeks i was begining to wonder turned on comp today had email from zx-racing they have just refunded my £350 for the dump valves. Strange???? Something not right
  2. Well you know what the railway's like since privatisation just out to make a profit for themselves no reguards for passangers or staff. Its a certain national coach company that runs us now. Im with ASLEF as most drivers are but they seem more involved with in-fighting than their members, our reps arnt really interested only seem to want an easy life and the time off from driving, a lot of drivers went over to the RMT but as this is such a small amount it dosnt carry any weight so basically we have to put up with it, they need more millitancy. You never fancied the driving then? Im out of liverpool street do you get over this side?
  3. had a feeling could be in safety boost what do i do about that? as car would spin wheels easy in the dry now no chance
  4. 43mph in 1st? im getting 25-30 top wack before engine hits the limiter i knew something was wrong and car not as fast, so what could it be? car just gets to this speed and wont give me anymore just revs untill limiter kicks in has got new clutch but dont feel as though its slipping
  5. Im a train driver been driving trains with no air con in the cabs its unbearable well over 40 deg and the tight b*****ds at 'ONE' Railway wont spend any money to give us a bottle of water, the trains with air con are either sittin in the yard coz they dont want them to go over their miles for inspection or on loan to another part of our company as the drivers over there threatend to wear shorts, good excuse to strike i think lol at least it makes a change from leaves on the line lol But i do love the sun when aint gotta work in it
  6. UK manual TT........Had engine out and fitted pair of standard tubs which where fine on the engine they came off of. Car boosts up ok reads just over halfway in the + on stock gauge, i know stock gauge isnt a very reliable reading. What i want to know is what speed should i expect to reach in 1st gear when i boot it from a stand? at present i can get to about 25-30mph then engine just revs and the limiter kicks in, its quick to reach this speed but by the time i realise, the engine has reved and the limiter has kicked in. cant remember the car doing this with the other turbos before i siezed 1 up. Car dosnt fell as quick with these tubs, not sure if they came off a jap speck or an auto, im guessing tubs are the same throughout the range? also noticed when normal driving boost gauge sits on 0 which is normal, but when i give it a bit of trottle needle flicks over to - untill i give it a bit more then goes to + is that normal as cant remember it doing this before either, prob just got crap memory lol. Car is standard apart from veilside evolution exhaust and stillen induction kit thanks carl
  7. there is cars faster than our z's we got to addmit it we tend to think the z is invincible it aint we own z's coz we like the car and they do look the part if there wasnt faster cars why are we all trying to make ours faster?
  8. i dont think its the starter as dipping the clutch wouldnt make any difference to the starter they are completly seperat i think its your gear box bearing or syncromesh or even 1 of the gears gone reason i think that is, you said only happends in gear no noise when clutch dipped or out of gear as the input shaft which is the shaft that comes out the box and into back of the engine this turns indipendantly with the engine when there is no gear selected and is only ingaged with the gear box when you select a gear hence the noise when in gear as then drive is through to the wheels
  9. thats a shame, so u giving up the Z life, or u buying another 1? There is a bloke at work who used to have cosworths he see my car and wants to get a Z now, depends how much you want for it? Give me the cars details and i ask him. I know a guy who will put a pair of turbos on for you at a reasonable price he done mine coz i didnt have time to do it myself, i got a pair of turbos of ebay for £150 charged me £1400 and that was including buying and fitting new clutch and timing belt at same time, reasanoble i thought. Ken at zxs along A127 has got pair of turbos for £150 i think. Dont know if you know of him he behind sheperds the van sales, kens number is 07751149211 might be worth hanging on to your car and getting it done if it reasonable to get done
  10. Hi mark i live in harold wood behind tesco and near mcdonalds. There seems to be a few around here, ive not seen your car but there was a silver n/a and a flat met blue on the hill but that was couple of years ago also seen a pail met blue 1 with wide arch kit in petrol station in hilldean. So i guess you got your car de-catted? Been toying with the idea but not got the bottle as just had turbo sieze on me and had to replace 'em and dont fancy going down that road again, but might put the mini silencers on not decided yet as need more info on it, waiting now to get boost up rated and chipped. Hope you dont have the car off the road to long with this fine weather
  11. I paid £2000 for my UK manual TT from a car dealer it came in as a part exchange thats why it was cheap. I snapped it up UK manual dont come along that often for that money engine was good and body fair, but i didnt mind as it was totally standard and i wanted a project car so i didnt mind having to do a bit of work on it, then a turbo siezed up, got pair of turbos for £150 of ebay + price of fitting cost £1400 but inc new clutch and timing belt fitted while engine was out. So if you dont mind having to possibly spend a few quid on it to put your on mark on it then 3k should get you something to start with, Some on here for sale but proberbly bit more money but you will know a bit of history about the cars. Save up as much as you can take your time and buy the best you can afford, if this is your first Z read the past posts learn as much as you can then decide if this is the car for you, they aint your avarege car where you can just pop into your local breakers yard, car spare shop or back street workshop with! They see these come in and straight away the £££££ light up in there eyes, just look under the bonnet of a TT you will see what i mean. Good luck with your searching
  12. thanks Krsmayo, i've read a lot about boost jets but am not sure about using them as still got stock tubs, to be honest im a little confused about them. I was thinking of a controller so its also there for the future for when the big mods come + i can control the boost so i cant over work the stock tubs
  13. Ok, my next step is to up the boost, car is uk manual has veilside evolution exhaust and stillen induction kit. Running stock turbos at the mo so would need to be a bit carefull? I have been advised to use an electric boost controller, @£445. As manual controller not so accurate? i pressume this includes the chip and remap although this isnt specified on quote. Also told a fuel cut defencer would be needed too @£95 This all comes with a labour bill of £400-£450 + vat So a bill of over £1000 is expected. Would this be about right? Your advise plz on best wat to up the boost. many thanks carl
  14. Hi mark, was me on way home from the gym, didnt see another z about that time, but see a black 1 going into main road romford end as i was coming off roundabout that was about 2-2.30 pm carl :)
  15. you are so right fairladygirl, thought that Band Aid gig might have changed ego's
  16. Sad news today of the death of a legend Syd Barret! R.I.P Syd (Roger) Barret 1946-2006 His music and Floyd live on!!!! God Bless
  17. Get em to bring the goodies over with em Dump valves, turbos, body kits etc anything you can think of, otherwise they aint coming!!
  18. world cup ended when we went out not worth watchin after that foreigner players ruined the game with dirty playing. All footballers are bunch of primadonnas now, why we aint got any decent players who can take a penalty too many foreign players in our teams no room to bring in new talent, all to do with money now more money in winning titles with established players from abroud than train up our own boys, me thinks
  19. Thanks for that Yamabuki, but did you completly de-cat with no mini silencers in their place to maintain some back pressure?
  20. you may possibly be right, but way i see it, reading through the posts the main reason ppl's seals go is through lack of back pressure? All be it there being no concret evidence this is the main reason. Or maybe that it just high lights a problem that may already there? Therefore, if the engine has some back pressure, which it is proberbly designed to have due to having the cats and causes no problems to the tub seals when there is back pressure. Putting a less restrictive system on than the cats provide has to still give some benifits in hp gains but still provide some back pressure to help preserve the tub seals. Thats my theory, which brings me back to my question. Has anyone with these fitted found them to be of any benifit?
  21. i paid £150 for pair of good standard turbos off ebay. dont know if thats expensive or not but might give you an idea
  22. Well this is the whole point of the post to discover wheather there is any benifit to removing the cats and adding the small silencers in their place. wheather there is any increase in hp and at the same time try protecting any damage that could happen to the tubs. I dont fancy another 2 grand bill thanks. If for example the car produced an extra 20hp with the cats removed, but only produced an extra 15hp with the small silencers in their place, i could live without that extra 5hp i might gain, plus i can live without wacking out 2 grand again, the extra 2 grand can be spent on other bits to gain the other 5+hp HP figures are only an example.
  23. Nice one leg nose, that would be appreciated m8, seems to me to be the safest option. cheers carl
