  1. I picked it up this morning. They said the tube was bent and out by about 3mm. I asked about power etc but they said it would be twisted not bent and showed me one that had been twisted by too much power. They said its like it had been dropped but it wouldn't of left them like that. mmm ok well i have not dropped it, and the vibrations started as soon as i put it on the car. I asked about the quality of the tube, could it be poor quality, they said no its fine. They said that even though it was bent they didnt think the prop was the cause of the vibration. I think it was however as the prop being bent would exactly describe the vibration speed and amount. Also the vibration i had started when i fitted the prop and the symtoms were not like anyone elses that were fixed with new mounts etc.
  2. oh yeah now i remember, i went there on your recommendation!
  3. Yes, it is Wilson Driveshafts! - oops! I hope thay dont wreck it, what did they do to yours? They said that it was bent but it had now been fixed and its ready for collection. From how it felt on the car I can belive that is was bent as thats exaclty how it felt. I will leave it off and come and see you this weekend, maybe bring it with me?
  4. Just phoned them and they said it was slightly bent, they are not sure how! Has now been adjusted and is straight. sounds hopefull me to, i will have a proper chat with them tomorrow when i pick it up I got it from mjp but it was sold as faulty, made too long by the factory in mexico, i bet they made it bent as well! The place in notts only shortened it for me, i bet it was always bent. Sounds like too much power to me lol I think i will come and see you keith, no harm in checking the angles as well. I also want to have a perv at your v8 as well! can you have a look at this thread as well for me keith http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=55178&highlight=0.001
  5. OK mate, thanks The prop is off now and I dont really enjoy taking it off and putting it on all the time! I may well take you up on that offer, as i want to get it right before putting it back on again. I am going to ring them in a mo to find out if the prop was out at all. I found this thead, talks about some sort of indicator that can be used, have a look and see if you know what they are on about? http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=55178&highlight=0.001
  6. Right, putting a second jubilee clip on didnt help much. I have took the shaft off now and its back with the drive shaft company They say that it wont be the shaft causing the vibration as it would do it at 28mph and again at 48 not 70 and 100 They are checking it for me again on thier balencing machine anyway. They said that the single peice shaft should be better than the stock one as far as vibrations go, the difference in the angle of the uj's wouldn't do much on this shaft They said thet the old one had a knackered uj and centre bearing, the play in these was probably taking up the vibration that would have been there already making it not noticable. The diff and gearbox mounts are original on the car so it looks like i am changing them. Hopefully they will come back to me and say it was slightly out of balence but i cant see this happening tbh
  7. First of all check your oil level mine is normally about 40psi at idle when warm (aftermarket gauge)

  14. Taking the mrs out for a mother's day lunch - £25 Seeing the look on her face when you tell her its also a car meet - priceless!
  15. Its mothers day isnt it! Look on the mrs face lol. I'm taking you out for lunch, by the way its a car meet!
  16. is it cold or hot? hot = not good, main system cold = overflow
  17. It will be the zorsts mate, they both pass directly under the bottom of the shifter. There is a heatshield, maybe your missing it? Mine gets warm too as its a solid ally ball and the heat gets tranferred up to it. Dont think it will be your gearbox or fluid as it is in front of the shifter not below it.
  18. I have a mint 1990 edition of "car" with a 300zx road test in it - got a good review
  19. I have wanted to take my car on a skid pan for ages, phoned round a few places but none would let me use my own car
  20. The car rolled forward about 2 inches onto bricks i used as stops which are on top of the breeze blocks that the front wheel are sat on. The rear of the car was on one stand on one side and big jack on the other side. Car rolled forward, jack rolled with it, stand went to 45 degrees bending the base and cracking the leg of it! Had to very quickly get the spare trolly jack under the side of the car with the stand under it. I then relised the rear of the car was then on two jacks with casters on! lucky the front was then stopped by the bricks so could roll no further. Wouldnt have gone much further as the second breeze block on each side has a brick under the far end of it to give an upward slope etc. It wouldnt have gone far but was a brown pants moment! Axle stand will be fixed with hammer and mig as soon as it stops raining!
  21. mines on breeze blocks which are about a foot high!
  22. yep i have done exactly that with left over decking boards. I wouldnt get the jack under the car at all otherwise! I invested in a workshop grade 5 ton jack which goes low too! Well worth it.
  23. Just put the zed on stands and it took the best part of an hour in the rain! At one point the car rolled forward about 2 inches and scared the sh*t out of me! Cracked a 2 ton stand too! Doesnt help that my car space isnt 100% level either! I had already put measures in place to stop the car rolling but they were 2 inches away and the car rolled slightly onto a brick. Phew its secure now, Just wish it would stop raining so i can start taking the prop off to get rebalenced!
  24. well i offered him 40 quid + postage for the booster as long as its good if he wants more i'll see about getting one from the usa for £120
