Voltage stabilizer
I have seen a Nismo stabilizer on ebay for 12 quid. They claim to stabilise voltage on the system which can give better performance of electrical kit and more tourque apparently. I have loads of electrical stuff, boost controller, gauges, gps, informeter etc. I know that Vince has one as he slaped my hand when i poked it and asked whats that for! Can anyone tell me if they are worth getting or just a gimmik?

BP new fuel (pinched from another site)
mmm id be tempted to try it but for over double the price of optimax only if I get double the bhp for my money! After a couple of days on that you could have bought something decent like an apexi for the extra money you spent!

Yes you can raid your maxtor no problem, your best of with matching drives so get 2. 64bit chips will run a 32bit os no problem. x64 is all good but you will struggle with apps that wont run 64bit nativly. Im sticking with xp pro for now due to compatiblity. I have always used amd chips as they are better value in my opinion. As I said dont get a qtec psu as they are cheap and will end up melting your southbridge. Anything about 60quid upwards should do the job but i would be aiming even higher for an sli system as the pci e cards are hungry.

yes, loads There are various ways of using raid. Basically it means using 2 or more hard drives as one for high data rates and/or fault tollerance. You can mirror two hard drives so if one fails you have a copy of everything on the other drive. You gain fault tollerance but loose space and speed. You can stripe a partition over two or more drives which gives you double the normal access speed but no fault tollerance. Raid 5 is best but expensive as is you need at least 3 drives, it does however provide speed and fault tollerance. My setup is 1 80gb raptor sata2 drive which has windows on it and some backup images on a second partition. 2x 160gb 8mb drives on a 320gb raid stripe, split into about 5 partitions. 300gb external usb2 drive which is a mirror image of the stripe and the os images on the sata drive.

Just looked at your list - If your getting an sli mobo are you going to add the second pci e card at some point? Qtec psus are crap! Pay a bit more and get a decent one as a poor psu can cause loads of problems Maxtor are now owned by seagate but they are still an entry level hdd unless its a raptor. If I were you get 2 160gb 8mb barracudas and stripe them.

If you dont get a raptor get a couple of seagate barrcudas and a mobo with an onboard raid controller, make sure they are the 8mb cache version. I have 5 of them!

The 10,000 rpm raptors are one of the best ata drives around, raid a couple up and you've got one fast machine

Greddy Informeter
Yeah its way smaller than a din, mine is in the top din with my boost controller etc. I need to make a proper encloser for it as it just wedged in there at the mo. They are about the size as a large mobile phone so a mobile phone holder would be a good way to mount it. They come with both obd and obd2 looms so they are truly plug and play, the z is odd and the best thing is that it doesnt need an exteranl 12v supply like the obd2 does so no cig lighter connecter to worry about - just plug it in and off you go. The main benfit is that you can see the readings that the ecu is getting from various senders so you know if they are working correctly. It does most things a consult and datascan will. It also shows ecu error codes, doesn't show the exact code, just how many errors the ecu is reporting. I'll do a proper write up at some point, I managed to get mine for 60 quid from ebay - worth every penny!

Is the oil pressure monitored by the ecu?
I have been under the car this morning and its on the passenger side yey! I pulled off the rubber and found that only one of the two wires was connected. There is a white wire and a black wire. The black wire was not connected and had been taped off. Am I right in thinking that the sender only needs one wire going to it and it is earthed through the block? If so why does the connecter on the sender have 2 pins? The plug only has one in it so I dont think the black wire has ever been connected. My gauge does work just only about 20% of the time. Can anyone shed any light on this?
