  1. Is your car an auto and youve got a manual loom?
  2. You must have hands like a 5yr old bud.I cant get my hands in that small a space.Fair play if you can do it though.
  3. Mot regs dont require cats after 92,just that it passes a cat emission test.Youd be amazed at the amount of testers that dont know the interpretation of mot regs.Had a mate ring the other day because his discovery was failed by a tester who said the new boot floor panel hed put in had to be seam welded and not spot welded.Only patch repairs need to be seam welded.
  4. 54 is an auto box code.not the det sensor.itr refers to the communication link between the engine and box ecu.
  5. Hope you get it sorted.Still worth checking where your loom plugs into the new ptu as you said. The pins can get very corroded.
  6. If the cat overheat light is coming on you have unburnt fuel going down the exhaust,So that rules the injector connectors out.Check your coil pack/ptu plugs are tight and making good contact, see if you can borrow a known good set of coil packs and ptu and swap them and if that fails check the plugs. It could still be an issue in the loom even after youve done all the other checks but thats worst case scenario.
  7. Didnt he fall from grace for having under age sex with a girl or something similar.Im sure it was in the nineties?
  8. A shim that big would cause issues.Ive fitted similar but much smaller shims on rover k series heads that have been skimmed to the limit.
  9. Be warned the last call i made to Shawn @ Z1 cost me £27 for 25 minutes.
  10. ^^^ Ive got one that Lloyds the chemist do for £15.You do look like rudolph the reindeer using it but i swear by it.I suffer really bad with hay fever but 3 minutes use and the sniffs go.
  11. The average size used is 1.2mm or 051".This will account for the average losses due to skimming.Any increase in compression will be so minimal if any it wont be worth worrying about.I can assure you it wont be a problem.
  12. If it does need new guides, its usually the exhaust ones which suffer, dont get new ones as the cost of them plus the fitting is extortionate.Get the machine shop to fit sleeves in the old guides. They are readily available and can be reamed to the size of the valve for a long lasting cost effective repair.
  13. IIRC the new bolts may be coated. If they have a blue band around the threads they are already done.
  14. Give em a small dab of loctite when you re fit them that will keep them in check.
  15. Did you post alan that youve changed your pcvs?If the old ones were faulty you may have oil in the pipes and plenum which is drawn in under boost.this will cause detonation for sure.
  16. You shouldnt need to remove the housing.A seal hook will get it out or drill a small hole in the seal and screw in a self tapping screw to use for pulling it out.Tapping a screw driver down the side of it to lever it out can mark the housing and cause an oil leak around the new seal.
  17. Im puzzled over the badge.Have seen several cars with the same badge on and only on the n/s and always in the same place.how bizarre is that?
  18. Hiya Joel, aint even given it any thought bud.Japfest is on the horizion and im still not sure if im going.
  19. Brave guy taking on all those pulsars. The gt ir is more un reliable than a zed and a pig to work on.Faster than a stock zed though if you can keep em on the rd.They understeer really badly.Blokes got his work cut there !!
  20. Taking the rad hose off will only drain the rad and the very top of the engine.Youll need to remove the drain bungs on the side of the block.(bottom of engine either side in front of engine mount brackets). The engine needs 9ltrs of coolant to fill it according to the w/shop manual.
  21. my ears are still bleeding from the noise.Shame the exhaust had to go on :D.Not sure your nieghbours would have approved either Simon.
  22. Was that car on pistonheads if im not mistaken?.Recognise the number plate.Glenn on here had J2 EDX on his car.Been busy with that bud.Good on ya.swap the downpipes around. They are on the wrong sides.
  23. Its very unlikely to be alarm/immobiliser related.they disable the cranking or fuel circuits.Have you checked the camshafts are turning, take the oil filler cap off look at the cam and crank the engine to see if it turns. It may have stripped the cambelt. Its common for belts to go on start up as they are under a lot of load.Fingers crossed its not that but its worth checking.
  24. Coming up the m27 from Portsmouth saturday evening around 18.30 and passed a black z heading the other way.Anybody on here?
  25. Big no no.Oz white wheels on a red lancia integrale goes but not yer zed bud.Funki will back me on this one for sure.
