If you'v got a Z32 you'll generally stick with what you know. If you've not got a 300 yet and are seriously looking, with real money to spend, then you've got to consider a 99 spec i suppose....However, with less than 500 rolling off the production line in 99, less in 2000, and a probable equal amount of Jap enthusiasts as us at source of production, then i think they will be few and far between.... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthr...uction+figures

Sorry Si but that is rubbish. What nicer features? Drastically reduced climate control? No VVT? Just because its newer does NOT make it better. All IMO of course ;)

wasn't the vvt dropped in 1995, so your actually saying don't buy a post '95 car ?

by drastically reduced climate contol, what was reduced? is it teh manual one like on the verts? (cos i prefer my manual climate control to my auto one)

what other cost cutting was there? i'm asking cos i'm tempted to get one and want to know more factual reasons not to

From about 94 onwards nissan cut costs on things like Sound insulation and previously standard equipment starting to become optional extras.

Pretty sure that the Digital Auto climate control was still available on the later cars, but they made it an optional extra.

IMO The Manual controls while not attractive are much better to use that the S1 Digital controls....but the S2 digital controls are the best of both.

older 1 for me please, i cant see the point in payin more for less

More for less? So updated interior, revised chassis, new trim, better transmission is 'less'?

its not that much updated, besides a lot of people want leather retrims anyway and i'm quite happy with my zed so :rofl: hows your interior comin along while we're on the subject.

just bought this one in Japan a couple of weeks ago.

the car isn't here (in Holland) yet, but will soon be..

would the car be legal in the UK if it has european/dutch plates or does the 10 year rule apply for all imports ?

That is a very nice car!

If I was in the market for my first 300zx now, then I would be interested in a genuine 99-spec car.

But if I were to replace my current ZX then no; I'd prefer to pay a premium for a last of the line, clean (read rust free....), manual UK spec car with low miles and known history. They are out there........

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Very slowly. Spent more time running new speaker cables and fitting sound deadening. Rear seats are done, rear quarters are done, glovebox and other forward fitting dash bits are trimmed, just the front seats and door cards. None of it's actually in the car as the interior has 1 seat in it! LOL Absolute mess at the moment. But it's slowly coming together.

I'd love a 99 slicktop. The Revised chassis Stiffening. Newer, low mileage. Updated bits on it as standard. Rare.

But I'd still rather have a nice series 2/3 Slicktop like my own and spend the difference in price on the car.

I first got my Z in 1997 and a couple of years later I did seriously think about a '99 spec, ie effectively a 'new' car. Now that the 99's will be 10 years old by the time they get here the appeal is somewhat reduced. The difference between a '99 and my '92 doesn't seem so great, maybe it's because I don't really think of mine as being 16+ years old !

I like the 99 spec for the sheer hell i wont have to do any mods/ paintwork etc, i never was keen on he original front bumper or the rear rubber spoiler, so to start that saves me a bundle of time and cost changing and repainting a car, then things like 99 spec lighs esp the front ones, no need for chroming or fitting HID's

So in the end itll be subtle mobs like, wheels, air intake, exhaust n a few other bits, which leaves the car looking pretty standard.

I love the Zed, but its starting to look a bit dated IMO, but we all have different tastes

its not dated, its a classic marque lol (well thats my excuse and im sticking to it!!)

Currently im working on a 89 to 2k spec conversion on my zed and atm im stockpiling parts, OEM only so the car can be fully restored and updated all at once. I must admit id love having a geniune 99spec zed but i have always gone by this thought. I 89 2+2 NA Jspec is my first ever car and first ever zed and theres no way in hell id ever sell it. That being said I woulkd rather convert my zed to a 99spec then have a 99spec. I know the cost would be probably way higher then buying a 99spec in good condition but i love this car and i see my project as one of a kind in Australia and maybe the world for that matter.

So far most of the 99spec look alike zeds ive seen are mainly 3/4 99spec conversions with most having the 2k front bar, 2k tailights and some have the 2k spoiler but i want it all. that means front bar Side shirts, HIDS, tailights, interior 2k spoiler, Chrome stockie rims everything i can get my hands on. Even engine parts. This is what will set my zed apart from the rest.

But to answer the question no i would keep my current 89 model zed and convert it.

nope, not me, i dont see the big hype tbh, they are not guaranteed to run any better, they could still be clocked and cost many thousands more!!

and in reality they look the same!!

wham bam thank you mam. my thoughts exactly. :D
