I wonder how many testers are aware of what year of Z32’s came out of the factory with an airbag equipped steering wheel?

Not many I would say so lets hope they can get the right info on the day. Mine has an after market wheel but its a 1993 model with no airbags.

I reinstated mine, took me several years because there are variations, but I got there in the end.

Bet many zed owners don’t know what year either ?.

Probably about the same number that know if/when HIDs were factory fitted to the projector low beams.

Mmmmmm, what's an airbag?

Also why do people keep cats in their cars

BTW 1990 was a good year for carzzzz . .

Only 8 more years to no more MoTs anyway!

My Z failed because of HIDs fitted. Plus brake pipes corroded. One garage thought the MOT tester was harsh about the pipes.

Changing the HIDs over is only a 10 min job. All bake pipes are now changed. Booked in Monday.

Surely if it’s an import and there’s no warning lights they are going to struggle to know what was specific to the model at production.
Luckily mines an 89 and has the better non airbag early wheel anyway.

Exactly - and I have never had an issue with HIDs either ?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

So how does the HID situation work if you retrofit genuine Nissan hids to an older model z32.

Before I bought the '99 spec OEM HIDs headlights  I asked my MOT tester about fitting them and the MOT test.  He told me that since they were

manufactured by Nissan for the Z32 and I could show that and the bulb and projector were designed to work together he would pass them. He

wasn't bothered by a lack of the "E" symbol on the glass. The fact that the car doesn't have self leveling fitted didn't matter either, but the UK spec

headlight washers need to work.

Of course my experience may be down to an individual examiners interpretation of the rules, but two MOTs later no issues.

I had the same experience - 99 spec's are designed for the car so they had no issues. My daily driver has aftermarket HID's fitted so they failed it. Took them off to pass and all good.

I cannot remember if I changed them over as it was a couple of years.

tbh Andrew I was being lazy as it is only a 15 minute job to take out the hid’s

Having said that I think it was a bit petty as I have used the same garage for the MOT since importing the Z
