I'm sure we've all been through it, I have in the past, but only vaguely. Despite spending a fortune on my Z and putting many hours into making it as good as I can, I've been slowly falling out of love with it. I mean I do still love the Z32 as a car, I still think it's an awesome machine from a really interesting era of automotive development, but feel the passion of ownership slowly ebbing away and there's seemingly nothing that I can do to reinvigorate that.

I've always said I'd never sell it, but the more time slips away, the more I am contemplating it. I've been toying with the idea of an Aston Martin V8 Vantage or something completely at the other end of the spectrum, a Z06 Corvette. Something a little more modern, but just as nuts (well, in terms of a Z06 C6) and yes, I am well aware of their rear suspension, but that's easy to remove and replace. I think I'm getting old and just not really finding the enthusiasm for keeping the passion of Z32 ownership alive. I've never kept a car as long as I have done, I've always gotten bored and sold them, but that's maybe where I'm at now however it's just taken slightly longer to get there.

Don't really know what to do to be honest.

Drive some other stuff, you will probably be reminded just how good your car is. If you do get yourself something else, if you can, keep both cars for a few months, so if there is a Corvette comedown after an initial honeymoon period, you can go back to your zed.

It's be a shame for you to let your zed go. Imagine if whoever bought it turned it into a drift car  You'd probably rather drive it off a cliff yourself than see that done to it.

p.s. My first thought was "Take it round a track, let it blow your head off." But didn't know if that's your bag.

This is the thing, I have new Mercedes C Class AMG-Line, so I kinda know much much smoother more modern cars are and I've driven an AM V8, 911 Turbo, Ferrari 360, Ferrari California etc. Yes, they're a slightly different class, but you get the picture.

Pretty much my position. I know what I'll replace it with, if I replace it, will be something fun and exotic, but on the same vein, I don't want to part with it and then regret it further on down the line. I've missed prior cars that I've sold but never regretted it....just worried that if I do with this, it'll be hard to deal with.

Go wash your mouth out and dont talk of such nonsense

Watch England play football later and you will feel better

I hate football!!!!!

I've owned Zeds for around 10 years and loved all of them.

Last year decided to change to a Skyline R33 GTR and so happy I did.

I will always love a Zed but a change is also good.

Change it! your not married, no kids, no ties, a good job, jeez feller a few here would like to be in your position, go get the best you can afford be it an Aston a Ferrari or what ever, this life is not a rehearsal, this is it, once its gone, IT`S GONE enjoy your personal freedom, for me a 1 year old DB11 would just sit nice at the moment.... (hint)

I've been feeling the same, lately. I don't want to sell it, but I don't really do anything with it, either.

Change it ( see above )

Yes it is. ( see above )

Simon please don't take an AMG C63 for a test drive...Your zed will be For Sale a day later i guarantee:drool:

Wow

If I might make a suggestion Si.

Whilst your car is definitely one of the best in the club, how much money would you really get for it now?

These cars still aren't fetching what they should in my opinion.

Do you need to sell the Zed to buy another car or could you just put it into storage and treat as an investment.

That way you would keep control of it and all the time and effort you have put into it.

I do agree with the guys that you get one go at life and if you are hankering after something else then you should go for it, but if you can keep both I don't think that's a bad idea.

Do what i done and start buying and riding motorcycles..I have 5 now and want another 10:laugh:

LOL - this.... And I know you hate football as much as I do....

Seriously, I often have a "V8" itch - I think as petrol heads, we all do - and wonder how to scratch it. I have thought many times about replacing the Zed with a Porsche 928s4 or GTS; but the prices just keep a rising, which makes having one as a weekend toy that little bit expensive! Likewise the V8 Vantage - for that money, I'd rather have the V8 as a daily driver. Which I was going to do until MB dropped the V8 from the SLK - hence I compromised and bought the new model, which is another twin turbo V6.....

And yet the venerable ZX can still hold its own against a lot of modern GT/sports cars - as it has a real soul, which newer cars seem to lack. It's flawed, not clinical, and the only stability aid is your right foot (or but-hole, whichever gives up first...) Which is why I love it!!

So despite the long time I have been without mine, I still yearn for it back. And as for that V8, well, there's always the latest C63 coupe/cabrio or F-Type to tempt me - but in all honesty, I have more important matters in my life to consider right now.... Which is why I will not worry about which car to buy/sell at the moment. I suspect you probably have too, mate:clover:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Scratch that V8 itch with:

then go back to your zed and praise god/allah/budda that you didnt sell it

I would sell both my cars for a Nissan GTR. I would sell both my cars for any Lambo. I really want a Corvette C3 late 70/early 80 hardtop, but wont sell the Zed for it. I want an RX-7, supra (again) and a Celica GT4 (again), but wont sell the Zed for it. At the end of the day its your car, if you want to sell it and buy/try something else then go for it! We can advise you for/against selling up but its your money, you spend it how you see fit

Yep been there and wore the T shirt...sold my zed years ago, then weeks later realising my mistake took me a whole year but foud the guy who bought it,done a deal and bought I back, cost a whole load more than I sold it for and he had ruined the look of it with those body kit bits you hate, took them all of back to how it was when I had it originally:)...and one thing I can say being lucky enough to have a V8 C63 for my daily and yes it's a fantastic car....but ther no way I'd sell my zed again, keep it bud and just store it if your sick of the sight of it but don't sell a car you have put so much money and love into.....in fact send it up to me and I'll store it for you ;)

I know where you are coming from Si...but...unless you are going to buy something really special/exotic....then you'll just be another bloke in another (similar looking) sports car...do you even notice an AM DBx on the road?...they're cool... but don't get people asking 'what was that?' as they go past.

If a man of your....not inconsiderable means ...needs to 'scratch an itch' then do it by all means....but lay up the old girl in storage while you get it out of your system :whistling:

Strange you should say that re: last sentence, I have for years now thought about stuffing it away in the Haynes Motor Museum

I think you would be better suited to something different.

Why?

I only have one garage at my house and wouldn't put the Z out to pasture under my ownership.

Strangely, that didn't make me want to sell my Z. I went on a Mercedes Action Day and had a C63S. Lovely car and lots of fun, but didn't make me want to go and sell mine. Mind you, this was last summer.
