That very much depends on how you apply the rules and more importantly how mr plod wishes to apply it. Grey area.

You're interested in regulation 14a on page 2. That shows you the required dimensions for the lettering, borders, stroke and all that good stuff. Technically, it's a black and white regulation and it's generally written for cars like ours where the rear plate recess would prevent a normal size plate being displayed.

It becomes grey in its interpretation with our front plates which could house a standard UK plate. If you fit the front with the square "import" shape plate, I doubt you have any problems, but use the same size lettering and grouping them on 1 line means you can fit the whole registration on a 3/4 size plate. That's what I have done (when I actually have a plate fitted!)

A member of a UK Supra club won a case in court arguing that using a square import plate or a UK size plate, restricted the airflow into his radiator and allowing him to use the same size plate as me.

Excellent. Thanks Joel, I was wondering if our cars merit the import rule, great to know. As you say, all black and white. Right, time to get a set arranged now. Thanks mate.

What a lovely looking little red shorty!

Indeed.....

'Plates look fine to me too, Chris....

...Front is certainly bob-on!! I'd probably have gone for a rear 'plate that pretty much filled the aperture in the bumper, but it's still good!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I must admit, I should have gone cut to size on the rear and fill in. It does look better.

Go on to http://www.fancyplates.com. I can give you the measurement if you want to get another rear plate made up. It's not expensive, I think under £20 delivered. Used these guys for years and they're very good.

Thanks Si, I purchased these two from fancy plates as it happens. I actually made the rear plate smaller as I thought it would look better.....not. no worries, I will order a replacement now. Cheers Mate.
