Putting my rebuild on hold for a month and a bit as the work for my garage gets under way.

Working out costs and building regulations but plan is to take out approx. 130ft of hedge, replace that

with a nice new ranch board style fence then build a 22ft by 20ft zed garage at the back of the garden.

Trying to get it as wide as possible up to the fence but really would like to skip on the fence at the back

and just build the garage from breeze block unto the edge of the garden.

The back end of the garden only measures about 18ft but the hedges are nearly 5ft wide at the back so

we will be gaining another 5ft after they are gone.

Here's a nice pic from my camera so should be able to capture the build progress nicely.

Yeh,

But I want it to last a very long time, I did initially want a log style cabin garage but I think I can get a breeze block style cheaper.

And anything over 30sqm over hear needs planning no matter what its made from.

That's a good size garage Lee and have you thought about making it out of wood as I think you don't need planning permission for wooden buildings.

Love seeing imperial measures in metric fractions ! Although, to be fair, you have also managed to get millimetres in there too. :)

Gotta be careful on the wood construction - over 15sqm footprint it should be 1m away from the boundary because of the combustable construction.

It's something that causes me joy, the Americans seem to love it. 0.25" or 0.5" etc, gets really silly when peole start putting 7.5' what on earth does that mean!? On technical diagrams as well. I can work in both but a lot of imperial drawings are just annoying to work from, partly because of the aforementioned and I'd much rather see a metric one any day of the week.

I find using thou,s far easier in the workshop on the lathe ect but at work building and laying roofs i use metric except timber like Plywood sheets which is still old money but must be fixed against metric plans and drawings...Ahhhhh its all wrong:headvswal:headvswal

Don't know about over there Lee, but here in Ireland you would need to build a boundary and then build a foot away from it, ie. you can't use the wall of the structure as a boundary

Garage plans underway.

To be honest that was our architect who added those.

I'll likely be using a whole batch of low power down lighters rather than 6ft tubes as knowing me or the wife they will just end up getting smashed.

Nice plans Lee and if they are single tubes for the lights I would change them for double sets, You cant have enough lights.

I've got 4 x 5ft single strips in the garage/workshop. They were installed by the builders as part of the original specs.

Now that we've finally moved in I can confirm that they offer nowhere near enough light.

If your putting down lighters in, then in addition I recommend the corner fitted strips like they use in spray booths. They greatly help when working in the arches.

Bit more progress on the new garage today.

Hedge on the left is mostly out and I've dismantled the old fence.
