well had a lovely email from Jimmer

the red beasty is now at powerzed its having a new gearbox fitted, some niggly oil leaks fettled and a bad misfire diagnosed

turns out the misfire was a fouled plug on cylinder number 1 and she is now running shweeeet !! but ive opted to be better safe than sorry and Jim is fitting a new engine wiring loom , the oil leaks were on the steering resevoir connection and one on the oil cooler, the replacement manual gearbox i bought from Mark is fitted with a spacer from Z1 to shim out the starter motor, just the boost issue to look at wont hold boost past 1.1 bar and the rev meter reading 2000rpm at tickover.

while its there i am going for a new 3 inch exhaust system custom made by Infiniti exhausts as the one that came off apart from the tips which i really really liked , the rest looked like Frankenstien had welded it while he was blootered on whisky wearing a blindfold and using a pogo stick ...the passenger side silencer didnt even have a fastener mounting bracket on it.....i would put some pics up but it would just make me sad knowing what i had paid for it ....

it left Noz with 473 RWBHP 527 at the fly so im hoping to see 500 at the wheels minus the cat and with some extra bost .....go baby go !!!!

when she is finished i will post up some pics and enjoy .............finally !!!

had a chat to Jim, its going to cost a few grand on top of the thousands spent getting it rebuilt only 450 miles ago ......luckily rods and tubs and injectors and IC are ok pistons may be savable but needs new rings and bearings...to replace the accel bearings that have only done 450 miles .....a new gasket set ,etc etc ....to replace teh set only 450 miles old.....seething !!!

jesus christ mate....refresh my old head, who built the motor last time:confused1:

Done at zedworld ...have the build pics all looked ok ...don't know why its failed within 500 miles from rebuild ....just staggered and shocked mate ...thought it was sorted once and for all after the Andy Duff fiasco ....now this !!! If there was a prize for most persistent zedder I would walk it !! ( would have to as I don't have a working zed :). )

So sorry to hear this mate. It's fecking soul crushing when crap like this happens.

I really do feel for you.

Keep the chin up though, Jimmers a Zed God by all accounts.

Richie

I was under the impression that Jimmer is zedworld? Is that wrong?

Jimmer's Powerzed.

Jimmer's Powerzed matey. He's been building engines for lads on this forum long before he set up Powerzed.

He's extremely well thought of on this forum. He built Funky Si's and Joely P's to name a few.

I'm sure they will be along shortly

God Dammit, I've been trying to post that reply for the last 35 mins :-((

Staying at friends that have sloooww wifi.

I must have written the words "Jimmer/PowerZed" a hundred times in our correspondence over the last couple of weeks

All my Zeds go down to Jimmer/PowerZed for service work & anything mechanical. As do all my other cars.

The last three PowerZed-built cars I have mapped have been 569bhp & 577lb·ft, 563bhp & 542lb·ft and 621 & 59xlb·ft. SWB went down there on Weds for service, LWB is going down tomorrow/today for HICAS delete once I'm done on the dyno in Leicester.

the boost leak is sorted now :) bad weld on the PE 1420 ...3 inch straight through infinity exhaust fitted ....when Jimmer has sorted the engine and its ran in how do you feel about mapping another 500+ whp zed :)

Very sorry to hear that steve, engine building can give the purse a good whopping to say the least, I'm glad I managed to come across jimmer before any of the others.

Oh yes, mapping PowerZed builds is a no-brainer!

How come it hasn't just gone back to the people who built it last time if it's only been 500 miles? Is there no kind of warranty for their work?

Ah. :(

At least I've heard nothing but good things about Jimmer, so fingers crossed you'll have no more issues.

i thought it all fell through

i thought it all fell through

It did, so Jeff had to keep grafting on Zeds. But he's downscaled quite dramatically now, by all accounts.

Has he moved from his unit then?
