for a event as special as a 25year anniversary an event the size of what we had years ago held at the ferrybridge services in yorkshire is more like it. must of had easily 60+ zeds in a row going down the A1.

As it was a jap special meet by banzai everyone would get a chance to be introduced to how good the z32 is.

if this could be done again it would be a great way of putting the z32 back on the map. it was a roaring success of a meet and to have it featured in magazines would be great.

I remember that, there's a video somewhere that needs digging out!

A little thought just crossed my mind, why not simulcast the event, to a lesser or greater degreeits going to 25 years globally not just here in the uk. Think BIG.

As in joint events, get the yanks and the ozzies to have their celebration on the same day. Obviously timeing won't add up completely but you get the idea.

There's a local group 'Jap North East' that used to meet at the Nissan place in Sunderland every month. the company would open up the grounds for them, and there's a café and playground for kids, and a shit load of space. They sometimes have drift events there.

If it would help I could talk to some people and try and find a contact for Nissan.

Nissan GB's HQ is in Rickmansworth, Herts mate.....

.....And (ahem) contact may be in hand.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

...and a shame it is that they don't do anything for their owners' clubs like they do across the pond.

Might be worth putting a few adverts into the magazines, banzai, jap performance and practical classics to name a few. Once things are more concrete and closer obviously.

Keep us posted rich.

how do you read that?

(on a JDM VIN Plate)

Edit:

I found:

300ZX TURBO VG30DETT 1991 7/90 - 8/91 050001 - 505918

300ZX TURBO VG30DETT 1992 9/91 - 6/92 520001 - 521340

They didnt make JDM in '89?

They certainly did. You can't really count the VIN numbers like that though. There are loads of different prefixes, so it would be 596 of that particular prefix. Different revisions have different prefixes within the number too, different markets have different VIN formats altogether etc etc...

Richard, Don,t forget our conversation about Silverstone, would be an awsoooooooome day there like last time

Cheerz

Chris

I like Silverstone...... used to go to Trax with my Z...... camped out there till they built over the camping ground.....

It would be a great location to hold an anniversary meet.......??

Pretty central in the UK......

Is Nissan UK doing anything for the Anniversary?

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

I'm glad you brought this up Paul. What exactly has been done thus far by anyone? Just so we don't repeat things.

  • 1 month later...

Thought I'd bump this thread and give people something to look forward to after the last few days of crap on here :) so what's the plan people? Got to be big!!:happybday:

Of corse, it's a celebration of the marque not necessarily the cars made that year.

Good idea, currently very little is occurring.

Exactly. Please guys I'm not teaching anyone to suck eggs here.... but first we need the club commitee or whoever is gonna be overall in charge of this big anniversary meet (would that be you Ian 'Vodkashots' as national events organiser?) to nominate or chose a small group of members to handle this if it is considered it needs more than one person to organise it.

If it was me organising something like that, then I would start by publishing a list of those involved in the organisation (I'd probably have sent invites out to members who skills I thought would be useful and select them that way). I may then (....possibly) ask for regular members to second those nominees on public forum. This is so everyone knows who is involved in organising this meet

Then I would move these members into their own vbulletin usergroup so they could access a separate private forum section specifically created for the organisation of this event. Vbulletin which this site is built on allows that feature and it is really useful in cases like this.

I would then make a 'sticky' thread where details of the meet could be posted as they evolve and a list of atendees could be maintained once a date for this has been settled

And yes I would start now to get that process inplemented quickly even though the event is many months away

Great ideas Rich and the Committee have been looking into a few things for next year but we need to spread the work load and get our REO's, NEO MEO and few others involved. So watch out for a few updates soon.
