• We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

  • These parts turned up from Specialty-Z today. Last significant items for the "bolt on" build. I'll post some more pictures of all the stuff I have collected over the years (literally!) in the "Project

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

My take on them is that the terminals are not a tight fit.

These make them larger for a better connection.

What was your reason for needing to fit these gary?

The nut on the jaws would tighten all the way shut, but the clamp would still not be tight on the terminal.

After a few months in the garage I charged up the battery and drove it today. It felt very strange after driving a BMW 525 M sport as a daily. But was soon at home with all the power and all the looks.

One problem I found when attaching the live battery terminal back on was it didn't tighten on the battery post. The bolt was as tight as it would go but it was still slightly lose on the post so this morning I ordered a set of these post shims. Has any one else had this problem or used shims on their battery posts.

My positive clamp would not tighten on the positive post on the battery so these caps made it a tight fit again mate.

Hi Trev!

I like your dials & set up they are really nice in my opinion.

Like wise as your obviously thinking is the steering wheel ok?

I think standard steering wheel and window switches would look much better.

The nut on the jaws would tighten all the way shut, but the clamp would still not be tight on the terminal.

This is usually due to terminal not being fully pushed down on the post which is tapered, almost every battery i change i find this to be the case.

The terminal bolt must be loosened a few turns and the terminal seated fully down using a gentle tap to seat it correctly then just nip up the bolt.

I've just had a great drive home from Maldon!

Great driving conditions A12, M25, M20 dry,clear, sunny!

What more does a Z want? :thumbup::clap::dance:

Except when you've had the battery off 800 times the wear down and aren't quite snug anymore, mind did the same.

This was my problem. ^^ My battery was new but the clamp had stretched leaving it slightly lose on the post so the caps made it a tight kit again.

Got it out for the first time in 6 months today! Bliss! Fitted up a bunch of new interior parts and my new single din head unit. Much happier with it. All coming out in a few weeks anyway so it stays clean and dust free whilst at the bodyshop.

That first drive after winter hibernation is always awesome. The car didn't miss and beat and put big smiles on my face!

Personally?

I would go back to standard mate, it just looks a bit too busy for me.

Yup - my thoughts too.... Each to their own, I always say, but if it were my car, I'd lose the all the wood - and the hooded dial area too - but definitely all the wood.....!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

..............And as for what I did to my Zed today....

I took it out of the garage, dropped it off at my local garage early this morning; then collected it at 2.30 this afternoon, with a sump full of Castrol Edge, a new oil filter..... And a fresh, advisory-free MOT certificate:dance:

I then took a spin to Aylesbury, collected Julia from work.....

.....And somehow ended up buying another car...

Got home, wiped the Zed down with Sonax detailing spray, ready for a day out tomorrow, as it's been a while since the Zed has been used "properly"

.....New car? Well, I happened to wander into Stratstones Land Rover yesterday. And then (ahem) wandered out, having paid a deposit for a nice 2014 Range Rover Evoque Coupe, in Orkney Grey; with 9-speed auto 'box and full tech-pack....

I collect it next weekend......

So it looks like the old Land Rover is now surplus to requirements. Anyone interested in a tidy Freelander2 HSE TD4 - offers around the £10k mark....:whistling:

The Evoque is a lovely looking Land Rover. Julia will enjoy it.

My battery terminal caps arrived a few days ago so today I fitted them. First job was to get them back into shape as when I took them out of the padded envelope they were very squashed

It was easy to form the lead caps back into shape and after fitting one of them on the positive post it was easy to tighten the clamp on the post. Job done.
