  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Also getting fairly proficient at reversing trailers up the drive.

Few years ago this would usually take 5 or 6 attempts.

At least there is a positive to you having to keep running it to the tuners and back....!

Nothing today (yet) but on Saturday, I replaced my heater control pod with a shiny new (well second-hand form Ebay) one..... The text around the washer controls had faded over the years, so this is a big improvement!!

I then polished the headlamp/cruise control pod with some Autoglym paint renovator so they both match once more 😉

One thing I learned about the heater control.... The actual control switches/display unit come out of the control pod.... So you can buy either a series one or series two, remover the four little screws that hold in the switch section and replace it with your original one. Handy to know, if you can't find a nice example of the right one for your Zed 🙂

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Today I got hold of this rather tidy steering wheel. Mine is flaking and in a sorry state and needs recovering. I nearly tore RichardS’s arm off when he said he was selling his old (refurbed) one!

Not fitted it yet but will soon, thanks Rich

Just shit turbos i think.

Should have known to buy new than rebuild and old set.

Scott Taylor one of the owners/tuners at Zshack in USA (extremely knowledgeable and respected shop) told me he has had 30+ zeds on the dyno with rebuilt turbos and hasn't seen one that didn't smoke even a little bit ever. I too have seen 3 sets of rebuilt turbos fail on my cars over the years & only had success with 1 lot of rebuilt turbos, but sold the car after a few thousand miles on them.

New cartridges are the way forward without a doubt.

Saying that i know two people driving around with no issues on rebuilt turbos..but they have only been done in the last few months so it remains to be seen how long they last.

It people putting on cone airfilters and discrding the original that causes the problems.

Better to use an upgraded standard fitting like Bosch than use cone filters.

That's from a Turbo Specialist that Mike Brewer went to and what Jeff said.

A bit of investigation yesterday evening. The age old Speedo not working issue hit me the other day after it had been intermittent.

off with everything to check wiring and ensure the screws on the back of the Speedo are not loose as I know that can be a cause of many clusters.

to be continued.

From what I understand, that issue can affect operation of your power steering too. Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Thanks @Peage. I may not be keeping the power steering but perhaps it’ll be decided on my behalf 😉

Is the odometer working? The answer will help diagnosis.
