Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

99 spec front going on?

Hi Andrew, it will be indeed. I’ll probably keep the original bumper in case I have a change of heart, as it’s growing on me with time!

Now I’m doing pre-Covid long days at work again (oh how I miss furlough!), I haven’t had the chance to drive the beast much this week. Went a good 4 days without driving, which is too long for me! Today I had to scratch the itch and so I woke up early, filled up with v-power, did a good 50 miles without realising.

Afterwards I gave the Zed a good clean for a couple hours, and applied gel to all the exterior trim, as the rain had dried it all out. Hopefully will be buying a new daily car first week of November, so will keep the car under cover from then on when it’s raining.

Now back to it’s shiny clean self! Can’t wait to get the respray done early next year and replace all the exterior trim, so I don’t have to apply the gel to keep them looking fresh all the time.

Looks good Andrew.

I didn't get chance to finish mine before heading back to the boat. But when I get back in 3 weeks I'll be able to do the accelerator and fit a really good dead pedal that a member kindly supplied. Though my carpet is in worse condition than yours!

Looking goooood [emoji1417]. Are you buying the Z4 for yourself? As a daily? It’ll be a quick one in the 40i guise, quite tuneable those engines and super popular these days in the 1/2/3 series models.

Thanks Naz - and yes....

I was tentatively looking to replace my daily. Thus far I have been  more of a fan of the three pointed star, and I still love my baby AMG (especially as it's a 3.0 v6 twin turbo), but I feel the dark side beckons.....?

Mercedes and BMW as you know  make great cars Richard and it will be hard to choose between them. My son Lee recently got a BMW M240 and I was so  surprised at the level of speed and stability of the new BMW's. I now own the second fastest car in the family ?

The Merc is a lovely looking car, but if you’re after a great handling chassis, the BMW’s are on a different level, probably at the cost of comfort as usual. As Gaz says, these modern cars are so fast, I’m going to have to build my engine to high HP to make sure I beat them all [emoji1787].

Thanks Naz and I agree - although to be fair, the Merc is still based on a design from 2011.... Nonetheless, that new Z4 in M40 guise has been reviewed extremely favourably. Not to mention developed and built in conjunction with the latest Supra.

Just windscreen advisory

Seen your car around near MW performance ltd...i always drive past there now and again to look at those supercharged VXR,s always has a soft spot for them

Visited a local GTR specialist who also happen to work on Z32s. Got it up on the ramps for the first time in my ownership and had a pike around and got quote for getting the sill work done. The garage confirmed my thoughts that it's no where near as bad as it could be. Going to book in for early next year to get the metal work done, brake and fuel lines replaced, and a 120k service and new clutch and release bearing.

My new toy from SGS arrived this morning. Now got 4 months to strip off all suspension, scrape, clean, treat, paint both those bits and the entire underside.

Got rid of the blue look chrome indicators from the front of the car. It's a small thing but a big improvement in my eyes.

Spotted rear centre panel reflectors have came loose in the housing. Not particularly looking forward to fixing that.

Then spent a bit of time soaking all the exhaust bolts and rear subframe bolts in plus gas and then working out the absolute best way to have the car jacked up and on stands securely to get the rear subframe off.

Left the front wheels on and put the front on a pair of 600mm high 2t load ramps. Rear has 2 x 3t stands on the FSM points and a 3t trolly jack sat under the diff (not quite touching). Tomorrow it'll be time to stop putting this job off and just get underneath and try and get the exhaust off and then the subframe down. Really wishing I had a transmission jack!

(I should point out the bricks in the pictures aren't supporting anything! Car at this point had axle stands under the front FSM points too!)

Hmmmm. Think it would look odd on a dark coloured car. I like that they currently look the same or at least similar lense to the fog lights. Helps it all blend in and match.

If you step back and don't take an up lose pic you can't see any hint of colour in the new bulbs (just a very faint orange tint if up close)

The indicators do look darker, I can see where the Gman is coming from there, perhaps if you worked on a slightly less tint?

With regard the reverse lens, strange is that as they do lock in quite well with a click, you'll have to take the panel off the car and on the bench you may be able to pull it back with some pliers, it may not fully lock back in though but it may satisfy you, or the eye, attach a little bit of clear flexible silicone on and around to stop it moving again.

I think the shadows created by my house have affected the images. There's no tint on the lenses at all.

Thanks for info on the centre panel. I'll hopefully get around to it soon.
