  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Edd is happy today. Had a little raid on the forum to see if I could cure my lumpy idle/misfire when engine warm. With the occasional cutout when coming up to junctions or parking etc.

Found cylinder two to be at fault. Changed coil. No avail. Had a little movement on injector wires and cough cough bang bang she came back to life.

Have fixed best I can given no major spare parts for the time being.

Also gave the throttle cable a small bit of adjustment and wow she’s like a new car again.

Responsive and fun. [emoji4]

Gave the interior the first proper clean of the year. Comes up pretty nice.

Took it out for a spin too as the weather down here in the South West was pretty nice. Ran beautifully and I'm really enjoying the quicker response with the SpecialtyZ flywheel, such a great upgrade and I highly recommend it.

Would you not like the oem shag pile mats?

Not especially. I was vaguely interested in a brand new set on Japanese Yahoo Auction but I've never seen nice ones for sale. They all looked like toilet carpet surrounds.

They are getting rare know and going up in price but if you dont like them then their not for you mate.

By the way, I do have mats in my car. They're the same colour as the carpet, deep pile too and have a subtle dark grey piping. They're very subtle and look nice and they do a great job of protecting the carpet which is absolutely immaculate. :)

Intake pipework back on the black car and took it for a drive on muddy gravel with atmospheric boost (very hairy to say the least) but great fun.

Made a pair of boot floors (V2) to improve on my old one, one for my car one for dads zed.

And Dad's zed has gone back to Keith's, for a rerespray.

And some frame fixing to the shorties (front end was shunted too far back so bonnet would foul on nose panel) so the bonnet now closes and lines up, but the front bumper still doesn't fit right and some of the metal is bent, so long term I will have to graft another front support on it.

Where’d you get the mats from Si??

Actually did this a few weeks ago but wanted to give it a good road test. Works amazing compared to stock! replaced the OEM projector for a high/low beam projector with 4300k HID while keeping it mounted to the factory mount so can still be aimed and all wires so low beam will stay on with the high. Also replaced the high beam with a fixed *32w* (more like 14w) led flood. might not be everyone's taste but im loving it

What projector did you use Jay?

I can't speak for Simon, but Autostyle does pretty good quality floor mats tailored to the car.

https://www.autostyle.co.uk/catalog2/index.php

However so does the RAC - and for less ££s than autostyle. I have just ordered some replacements from the RAC - as my Autostyle ones have slight wear on the driver's side. I shall report back once they arrive!

I went for the 1500gsm Super Deluxe option; I reckon they will be better than the "Premier Mat" quality from Autostyle!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Found some time to finally refit my “overhauled” a/c tensioner pulley! The one I removed had a very poor condition bearing (causing a whining noise) and the pulley itself wasn’t particularly round which is probably why the bearing failed. Another pulley was kindly donated by Jimmer (thankyou Sir) but the bearing on this one, although it wasn’t notchy, felt dry so I decided to go ahead with plan A and replace the bearing.

The pulley itself wasn’t very pretty and rather than just slap it in as it was I thought I’d give it a little treatment first because I just can’t help myself!

Once it was fitted, tensioned and tested, I put the undertray back on, dropped the car down off the stands, checked the tyre pressures and took it out for a spin with bootfuls of boost! Still a few other niggles with the car to take care of but at least it’s serviceable again.

I did take it to a location that I’ve been eyeing up for pictures over the last few weeks but when I got there I was kicked out by security! I’ll try again when I’m next out in it.

been busy as feck over last few days from Sunday, plus rained off with freezing cold rain and wind. so the car got the tub off and away, BYE BYE Bomex rear bumper side skirts off and away just need a front bumper, new nose panel, chrome door panel. The Shite C@@t that I bought the car off cut wires to wing mirrors, tailgate, but any how just a couple of pics to show that I have been working on her, probably start a regeneration thread and add all my pics on as I go along.. at least the sills are in good order what I was kinda worried about when was taking them off.

Your an international globetrotter mate.

I finally made progress on a job I started about 4 years ago! My version 2 speaker install. Version 1 was ok but when I purchased my Genesis amplifiers, the speakers were screaming for better quality upgrade. I’ve always had my tweeters in the air vents and whilst version 3 will likely see them move to the sail panels, version 2 stuck with the vent location which had proven to work well.

4 years ago when I started the upgrade I only did the drivers side component set and then as time went by I had other priorities and didn’t complete the passenger side. During this time my drivers speaker has been significantly better quality and power compared the the passenger side so I have been balancing this out with a 70% shift to the left to keep the sound stage central!

The upgrade itself is simple for the larger speaker as I’ve already mounted that to its chamfered MDF ring ready to straight swap, but as the tweeters were larger than version 1, the air vent brackets needed to be remanufactured. I got round to doing this today and I’m looking forward to the simple task of installing them and then taking the car to Audiophile in Bishops Stortford for a audio tune with my freshly serviced amps and this new front end setup. These tweeters are a tight squeeze in the vents once the angle is set properly but they fit well and there’s still plenty of airflow through the vent.

I know many people don’t bother with the audio side of these cars but I really like a decent sound stage when driving the Z and listening to some good music. My setup is fairly powerful when compared to most modern OEM fit systems but it is far from the level that you see in these cars with speakers everywhere, massive subs and a hearing test report that correlated with their graphic equaliser! It goes loud enough to not want to go any louder as a normal person but the main focus has been with the sound quality. None of my gear is super high end stuff as it’s money wasted in a 1990’s Nissan due to it’s design, but it consists of decent quality mid range equipment that is matched well to the capabilities of the “room”.

The bracket is now in primer ready for a quick spruce of black before wiring in and installation.

That’s very nice Andrew. Did you make it yourself?

I have Bose enclosures on my car, looks like they fit smaller speakers than non? Maybe 4" speakers all around?

Can't comment on quality as never have a radio in the car (yet I have a touch screen fold out to go in it)
