  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

I'm not certain but i'll take a proper look tomorrow, just covered it using a waterproof cover so hopefully if its not raining tomorrow will do a proper inspection. Will give you an update on what the roof fitter says , fingers crossed!!

check that the roller that holds window to the door pillar is intact and that it's not broken replacement from z center. rubbers for the windows as I say from cap. if you gonna put new hood on the I would like to think you would be looking at new rubbers.. I will be doing this to mine soon think in total all rubbers around the windows along top etc come to 700 then UK delivery from states plus customs tax. i will be replacing my jood as perspex panel has come away from the stitching..

Dug into the leaky washer bottle problem as I'm bored of getting a wet boot now... it's narked, basically. It's missing a lower mounting tab and has a 5p sized hole in it patched with a bicycle puncture repair patch and siliseal, but the problem was one of the pumps wasn't actually bolted to the tank, meaning every bump shook the pump enough to stretch the rubber hose a bit and drip.

Then I spent some time attacking rear bumper and the gangrenous mass of filler and what appears to be melted plastic where some dolt has overheated it trying to straighten it with hot air... it looks awful, but it's smoother now. I need a big chisel, and some mechanical sanding, or my arms are going to snap. And then I found more filler on the arch section of the bumper so I dred to think what on earth is going on in that region...

I'm thinking at this point it may be easier just to get another bumper, even though it'll need paint and I've still no idea what colour it actually is. It's not Nissan Intense Blue Pearl BV4 as I had thought (hoped) but that does seem to match well enough to my eyes that I'll use it to touch up the peeling bits until I can get the whole car de-rusted, de-dented and painted in one go. If anyone's got an unwanted SWB rear bumper, I'd be glad to adopt it and love it...

I WILL get this thing right, eventually, although the project E24 needs some loving too after a winter spent completely untouched in its barn. That's not run in 16 years now... But it was 250 quid, and restoring and selling it will hopefully release a wad of cash marked 'Z'.

Then I came inside and resubscribed, because the best thing I can do, for the Z at least, is tap into the vast well of knowledge and experience that is you lot.

Speaking of which... I've re-siliconed the targa seal edges, so that no longer leaks into the cabin, but that's allowed recent torrential rain to highlight the fact that the drain tube itself is blocked, and probably far too frail to un-bung the traditional way of using a length of stout wire.

Starting to look like a proper workshop this.

Took all the accessories and engine harness off the breaker ready to pull the engine.

And installed the na power steering pump.

Surely you don’t really need to take the car to work for an MOT Christ? [emoji13] what an absolutely smashing day to do that though! [emoji41]
I actually went to work in the surf but as the sun was out and the roads have had a good rinse i thought i would shoot home and grab the lady. First time out since before xmas. And roof off too!

Looking good mate

The scary thought is fast forward 15 years and you might be the new go to guy

Got the 17" impul RS wheels on it. In the future I would like step lips to 18", and a larger dish to give it a lower offset and make it flush (also wider to 10J ish), but that's long future and big money it looks like. Barrels will most likely have to be custom machined.

I had a v6 calibra years ago. I dropped a 6 speed 4x4 turbo gearbox in it and run it 2wd only. It went off the clock at 160mph. [emoji16]
