  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Had some new rear tyres put on today. Yokohama 295/35 (x18) I previously had 275/35 and I knew that the rolling radius was going to get larger, but I didn't bargain on the quite so much extra tyre overhanging the wheel rim. Oh well greater rim protection I guess. Will definitely need to adjust the coilovers as they are rubbing on the fibre glass wheel arch/lip a bit.

I need to post some better pictures as it was a bit dark, and it doesn't really show the excess tyre I'm on about[/quote

how wide are you rear wheels? what j are they

I do like those wheels Howard....... They really suit the car...

Cheers Richard, still unsure if I should have the centre spokes painted anthracite, or black sometime soon

Tomorrow it'll be time to touch up the plenum and then clearcoat it. Afterwards I'll be finishing off the intercooler hard pipes then the rocker covers and also painting and dipping the power steering fluid reservoir.

Then it'll be time to pack it all in to boxes ready to take to Mr dent for a makeover and mechanical spruce up..

Trying to decide if I should replace all the injectors with 555's and have the power upped a little.. Don't want to go up much as I find it plenty powerful enough really but a little extra won't cause any harm.. Maybe decats aswell but I don't want it to be too loud as it'll stress the neighbourhood coming home from work at 4 am!!

Also thinking of fitting all the camber arms and tie rod upgrades to try take some of the sway out of cornering..

I'm sure she'll be a different beast once Lee has worked his magic.. Can't wait! However, must get an injector in the big hole first or she won't be going anywhere!

Blimey Gray, that's a lot of work dude [emoji106]

I know bud:) but it really needs doing to make it nice again, I've been waiting for a long time for this body work to be done, now the engine and running gears been changed, just didn't want to take it of the road for another summer:( so may wait until a little later in the year so I can enjoy more meets with you guys :)

I got home from work and couldn't help myself. Had to have a look at how the whole engine bay is panning out.

Anyways, I ended up doing the touch up work on the plenum and got most of the bits out and pieced them together to get a sneak preview at how things are shaping up.

I have to say I'm finding it hard to stop smiling now. Gonna go to bed a happy chap today..

Here's the results of my hard work so far...

same here 10j the max is meant to be a 285. went over size on a other set of wheels i had before the one i have i now only went over by one size made the car feel funny on the rear and did not handle rite so be careful here with tyres that are 2 wide for the rims

The postal service may be a little pricey ikon.. Lol..

There's loads of places in the USA that can dip for you mate.

Have a look on YouTube for Jim urbano.

He runs a place called K2 that will sort you out mate.

He's a master at hydro dipping and one of the people who brought it in to the car scene.. Look him up and watch his work. He's the one that inspired me to try it myself.

If you have access to a big tank or even an old bath tub, you can try this stuff yourself with a bit of practice.

I'm sure you'll get sorted ikon.. Or look in to postage prices and I'll send the parts over ready dipped.. Theres always a way.

Thanks Dan, has anyone else come across similar problems with larger tyres?

yes it fits but when you go to wide for the rim you get lots or roll in the corner not a good thing due to the extra rubber if you can swap to the correct size tyre and sell the ones you have i would do this with out thinking about it safety first man the z rear end is already a bit wild with out adding the wrong size tyre to the mix

Bo@@0cks .....Anyone need 2x Yokohama Advan Sports V103s (N1) 295/35x18's Y?

i did this on the z and also did the same on a other car i had. pushing the sizes on both was not a good thing cost me 2 times the size limit on a 10j rim is there for good reason best be save than sorry due for the sake of a few pound

What've you got Andy?

I recon that's, an Audi interior.

No, certainly isn't it. Looks like a Range Rover Evoque interior to me.

Certainly is pretty strong salmon. I was going to go Vauxhall because of the vent assembly but the stitched dash put me off that idea. You could be right though about a Rangie.

Having just googled it, I recon your right.

Me too... defo looks like an Evoque:thumbup1:

Couldn't find a "what did you buy for your zed today"-thread so this goes here. Gonna ceramic coat them before I put them on and I'm still waiting for my billyboat catback and gaskets
