  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Oh ye of little faith. It's probably a very simple and free fix.

I've checked the wiring Stephen, all fine, the coilpack has been changed and that's fine, there's not much else it could be apart from injector failure is there..

Ohm test it!

Without knowing exactly what you've tested its hard to say but there's quite a lot of it. If you wanna give me a ring at some point il happily chat with you about what to check. I've played the same game myself a few times.

Ohm test it!

Always a good place to start.

Some Pre-bodyshop preperation.

Previous owner of my shell had deleted the Slicktop roof trims.

I quite liked the way it looked, but over time filler in the channels had cracked, so I decided to take it back to stock...

Thick filler :blink::hurl:

Don't envy you doing that little job.

Its a bit daunting taking a Hammer and Chisel to it :scared:

Thanks for the offer Stephen, unfortunately I didn't see the message til just now! Unless it's a long fag you were having, I doubt that offer is still there lol..

I've done all the tests now and the injector in number one is open circuit. No readings through the meter and just to be sure I checked it with three different meters and getting nothinvfrom the injector. Power to it and the pulse both showing the correct readings. That only points to the injector.

I'm wondering if this injector has been slowly failing and that's why I've had the problems I've had with the running. It's not been smooth since a few months after I got the car so maybe that's been my problem all along and it's finally just given up.. Might be time to look at replacing them all?

At least it's not a major job anyway which I'm relieved about.. Driving this ford ka really makes you appreciate the Z so much more... Throttle....... Wait a little bit..... Wait a little bit more..... Ah! We're moving.... I think..... Lol

You won't regret it - brave to get the tools out tho!!

Can anyone tell me if I can fit a series two injector in the rail if the other five are series one type? Will it make a difference or is it a big no no? The injectors I have, have a brown plug socket with two flat pins.. Are these S1 or have they been changed before do you think?

Thanks in advance for advice..

Hopefully it'll be a quick fix Paul.

Today was test day for me [emoji41]

It's always ridiculously close when on the rollers:

No need to ask the result hey mate? I'm thinking the words flying colours would be part of the answer along with no advisories...

What I did to my Z today... Looked at it out of the window and sobbed a little... Tested the injector and found the fault, then tried to remove it and got stumped by a rounded off screw which refuses to move..

After this I suffered the humiliation of driving to work in a Ford ka which I hate more than the thought of scrapping my Z...

Life feels very gloomy without that key in my pocket...

I don't like it when she's sick

To use a S2 injector on a S1 rail I believe an adapter is needed.

If you mean the Model series, then yes they are the same.

There are 2 different versions of injectors though.

Phase 1 injectors are the same from 1989 to 1995.

Phase 2 injectors are from 1995 onwards

The later version wont fit in the earlier rail without an adapter kit and different connectors.

Brown connectors are the standard TT 370cc injectors, they are actually purple when new but go brown over the years.

A visual comparison of early pintle vs later pintleless injectors:

Just to add, the early ones discolour. So if it's an early one, most likely, it will be square as seen and will have changed from that lovely blue/purple to chocolate shit/brown.

Like this paul its on its way mate new I had some somewhere image.jpg

Fitted new centercaps to my wheels. Bloody expensive but worth it.7c218c5e0c2fdd7e1d3304609dd06a01.jpg

I'm guessing around £25 per wheel?

I'm guessing around £25 per wheel?

I paid around 1200nok for 4 Inc shipping so something like that yeah

It is often the smallest details that go towards making the car looking just right.

Exactly!

Ted you are a diamond mate, can't thank you enough... If I can help you out with anything else you need for your car mate, just let me know and it's yours gratis..

Was beginning to think the agm in July might be missing a NemesizX for a minute.. I have my fingers crossed that the five remaining injectors continue to function until I can afford to replace them all.

Thanks again mate..
