  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

  • These parts turned up from Specialty-Z today. Last significant items for the "bolt on" build. I'll post some more pictures of all the stuff I have collected over the years (literally!) in the "Project

  • Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Checking the car for it's MOT tomorrow @ 8.00am :hammer:

Interseting start to the day as I was getting the car out of the garage I could smell a very strong smell of fuel!

Turned out to be the hose coming off the fuel regulator was weeping fuel.Went to tighten up the small clip and it wasn't having any of it. It was fubard!

With only 5 mins before I was due to be at the garage, there wasn't any time to de pressurise the system and fit a new clip. Being down to the last gallon of fuel didn't help with the problem either.

Pulled up at the garage at 8pm and they weren't open. Quickly popped next door to the Auto factors and got a small jubilee clip, as I was coming out the guys had turned up and wanted the car in quickly. Great, crossed my fingers as I pulled here into the garage.image.jpg

Had to smile to myself as the tester stalled the car 4 times before getting on to the lift, even then final attempt he spun up the rears, stalled and rolled the car into position, lol.

Anyway good news she passed:punk::punk:

Went for a short drive to fill her up with Shells finest, and back home now to fix the fuel leak.

Can't wait for Simply Japanese next weekend.

Nice one! Nothing as stressful as a car test, especially when you know there's something wrong with it

Finally replaced this manky thing! It put up a bit of a fight!!

I discovered I have low oil pressure.... :(

Sorry to hear that Stephen. I take it there is no visible leak?

Nope and a sump full of oil. I think, think the pan is damaged. Probably happened when I was hoofing the engine around to get across the bloody gravel.

Had a helper to wash the car today... Then we went for a spin to maccies for some ice cream :)

Finally got the zed running after being off the road for 2 years!!!

New engine fitted last week and finished plumbing etc. today.

Strangely enough its started and running fine on the new 550cc injectors with a standard-ish Blitz access map.

Need to get in touch with Noel for the Nistune to be fitted and mapped at some point over the next few weeks, then its off to the MOT station!!

Recaros are out, absolute pain of a job which took about two hours! Turns out my Clifford system was installed under the seat - no wonder it took him so long.

Driver's seat is very shabby on the outer side so I'm going to swap them around tomorrow. I would put in new foam but I don't think I'll be able to get more of that material :(

Unfortunately one of the belt pretensioner clips was a casualty as I thought it was just a standard cable tie.

And look what I found under the passenger seat!

The upper foam for those seats is no longer available from Recaro anywhere in the world. The material for the outer sections should be though.

The new upper foam sections from the "Speed" seats can be adapted to fit the "SR" seats though (which is what you have) :thumbup1:

I love finding Japanese stuff in cars. Got a few coins myself :)

Thanks for the tip. Capital Seating have the upper section listed? It's the bolsters I can't find on their site - http://www.capitalseating.co.uk/productdetail.asp?pid=630&type=s&appgrpid=&appid=&rid=61

It's the outer bolster that's worse, but the thread over it is very thin and I want to keep the seats original, so not sure what to do!

Apprently it's bad luck to remove yen from the car.

Lucky I kept it in then!

Capital do indeed have the upper foams listed, but it turns out that both are for the Speed seats. The original SRs have "spikier" shoulder sections (your seats, basically) and Capital can't supply those any more.

The only way round it is to buy the upper foam from them and cut off the bottom parts - as they're identical between Speed and SR seats, they can be used to replace your knackered upper bolsters.

As for your lower bolsters: Linky!

I'd need to see some better pictures of your seats to be able to tell you which material they're trimmed in and whether it's still available or not...

Been out and polished the exhaust tips this morning. Much improved :Dtmp_9917-DSC_0041-258304739.jpg~320x480
