My Z won't fit in my new garage :( It's about half a metre too long ..... And before anybody suggests it, no I can't knock down the garage it's listed ....

Not sure what to do at moment. It's been SORN'd for a couple of years, really, really don't want to keep it outside, it may be time to sell ....

LOL.. you have a listed garage.... do we have to really keep everything that's old????

Government should get themselves a life and start culling crap building (old and new) just keep some that are good examples.. the rest.. well it's about time they got better. :)

another 2 billion years and they'll all be toast anyway... take a F'n photo and rip it down...LOL... :D

....rant over... don't quite know what happened there..

Yeah, house and garages/storerooms are all listed ... Kind of serious oversight on my part really. Looked at the place and was very pleased with all the extra garage/storage space etc, but didn't think to measure the depth of the garage .... Doh!

Half a meter too long?......you would struggle to get even a small hatchback in there.

I guess it used to be a stable, horses seem to sleep with their head out the door ...

So I guess its a new garage because its attached to a new house you just moved in to !

I didn't think you would be daft enough to build a garage that's too short for the zed that's to go in it.

I'm also guessing its the wife who picked the house mostly as a man would have checked out the measurement's of the garage first and bought the house to match !

Ouch !

Half way up the wall put a concrete lintel in and then take down the lower section so the bonnet tucks under...On the out side make a wooden half sized shed disguised as a log store.

Im sure you can build a frame on the front to extend it a little without planning, as long as it's considered a temporary structure. Cover it in shutter boards and move the door forward. Check with the council.

i was thinking wooden shed (i mean.... workshop) extension to the front/back of the garage depending what room you have available.

Whoops!! I guess the "garage" wasn't originally intended as a garage if it's listed......

Could you rent a garage nearby for your ZX in the mean time; and then some "accident" could befall upon your own garage, which would enable you to rebuild it to a more suitable size.....?

Either way, good luck in your new home Andy; whereabouts have you moved to mate?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Actually, there is already a lean-to storeroom on the back, so I had considered that. Extending out the front is not really an option as the other garage next door would look really odd. To be honest the whole structure looks delicate, so I'm not sure how much butchering it would stand. However, in the meantime I really need to find somewhere else to store the car. It's currently in a friends barn, but it can't stay there much longer as it's blocking in their horsebox which will need to be moved very soon.

Would there be a big tree beside it?

Actually, no. I don't really want to destroy anything, but options are limited, (as are funds) ...

Bugger dammit and blast! Selling is not an option Andy. Not sure if it's helpful but you're more than welcome to store it here until you sort something. Although I'm assuming you want to store it somewhere undercover and I've just measured my garage, its not big enough for 2 zeds! so it'll have to sit on the drive round the side of the house! (I have a cover!)

Get a long old banger and reverse it into the garage. Reverse it through the back wall and tell the council 'oops, sorry, I was just checking I'd got the front in' !

or make sure it's an auto and say you sneezedd and hit the accelerator and oops, it tokk the back wall out..... sorry

Problem solved !

Thanks Joel, I have room to store it outside here too, just didn't want to. Realistically, it never gets used, apart from to test ECU's for people, so maybe it's time for it to go.
