Well after doing my pin 44 thing, and also sorting out my audio (seemed to have lack of base for some reason) decided to take my little boy for a driver and also test what effect doing wiring in the neutral switch was going to have.

 

Anyway, driving through down earlier, quite congested, couldn't do more than 20, had this black ford following me, anyway, was slowing down, with my indicator on to turn right, when next thing i know, i got shunted from the rear.

 

 

 

 

Although i had rust bubbles there wasnt any cracks in it like that.

 

There is more damage but these were the ones i noticed right away and took photos of.

 

The damage to his car was minimal

 

 

 

mine now most likely needs to be put on a jig, ill get better pictures in the morning.

 

think ill take it to a body shop first and get a quote for the cost to repair, then most likely go through the insurance on this one.

 

thats 2 times in a matter of 3 weeks someone has hit the back end of my car, and 3 times since ive owned it :( twice when it was sat still, and now this time when i was coming to a stop from 20mph.

 

Might be time i threw the towel in depending what the insurance say.

 

There is more body work buckling under the bumper, as i had a look, and the boot doesnt close properly now either, it makes a distinct metal hitting metal noise.

Had a phone call today, car is deemed as a total loss. they didn't send the boys around to pick it up as i already told them i wanted to exercise my right of buy back, so they are leaving it with me, will be contacted in the next 2 days to discuss value of the vehicle.

 

Well suppose once i know that, the hunt is on for a adequate replacement

sad to here mate. if you need a hand with anything let me know, i'm off work the rest of this week on leave. got some other bits to do too but could be on hand ;)

What's the budget and spec needed for a new one? Plenty of them around and about at the moment...

We knew it would be a write off, what to do with it now? Breaking it?

Or sell as it is for sopmebody else to have a go?

Me thinks you need roughy £5500.00 ONO from the insurance? You may aswell give the insurance company Berricas bank details lol!

Will be breaking it for the parts i want off it, then most likely leaving it as a rolling car with engine and auto box in, it will still be a compelete car, not sure if ill sell it then or actually break it all the way down and get it crushed.

 

I know a few people want wings and front bumper and that, but its getting the time and room to split it to the point of getting the shell crushed. the boot lid is too good a condition for that to go to scrappers, as there just isnt any rust on it, spoilers already been removed as well to a high standard,

 

no point letting it go if someone wants to put it back on the road, the rear is twisted and will take a bit, with so many decent 2+2's out there this would be pointless as a repairs type of car considering the cost involved in putting it back to how it should.

to be honest, as its still sat outside, i see it every day, im not actually looking forward to splitting it and getting it crushed, i do love it even though its only ever been "fine" for around 3 months since i owned it. the rest of that time was spend either changing the engine / the gear box / manual conversion, or chasing a over heating issue once the thermostat failed.

 

In away im glad its a total loss, but on the other hand its the zed in the colour i always wanted, it was slightly off on the body style i wanted, but i was going to be changing that.

 

even though i know what i have to do to it, i still really don't want to do it lol

agreed fella, this must suck balls.. time to look forward though mate instead of looking back! you'll have some decent dollar to put into your next one, plus more spares than zedworld :P and the bits you dont want, you can shift. you might find yourself double stacked on goodies depending what your next one has to offer :) providing you go for another zed! i hope you do :)

I know the blue one was the right colour but you were gonna havevto spray the thing anyway with all the kit you wanted on there. Plus you had the rot issue and the engine issues sadly in away this might be the best thing to have happened with it. I

i went through my insurance, they will recover the costs from the other side, the market is good at the moment and not many are on their with close to the same modifications as mine, the ones that are on there with mods, are all over 6k anyway.

When will they make you the offer?

If it were me, id put the money they give you in the bank.

Buy a cheapish car that suits the family, then brake the whole car, everything! All that money in the bank, then you could take your time and find teh perfect Zed, or close to and you'll have the money to make it your own.
