Three and a half years ago i gave my car and £500 to a certain person to perform a rebuild.I supplied all the parts (Wiseco pistons,Eagle rods,Cometic Headgaskets,Tomie Cams,Greddy TD 05 18G turbos,Pentroof manifolds,AEM ECU etc etc)Then four months ago i got a phone call from him saying he was having financial difficulties and couldnt pay the rent on his unit.Now knowing from a third party my engine was complete and ready to go in i paid him a further £500.

Well after excuse after excuse i finaly had an email from him last Saturday saying that he had payed the rent up in full and was waiting for the keys and i could collect my car at that time.

Not believing this i made some inquieries of my own and spoke to the unit next door who informed me that the garage had been broken into on two occasions and the tennent when informed could not make the 3 miles becouse he had no transport.

My next move was to contact the landlord who was very obligeing and just wants the unit empty.as the rent has not been paid and he has another tennent waiting to go in.

However i am not alone here as i know of another 2 people who have parts and cars there.

I am meeting with the landlord and the police Friday morning to examin the unit and do an invitory.

I have emailed the said mechanic to be there also but with no reply.

I will keep you all informed when i return on Friday.

Im not searching for the person...i haven't a clue who it is. we have all seen come and go. Just its a shame we have dreams and people seem to take them away. You never get remembered for what good you do, only the bad you do......shit sticks!!!

I will never support anyone who takes money knowing their overheads are giving minus!!! There have been some big companies on here do the dump on people before some came onto the site. Sometimes i think that what sends the shivers through this site. At the end of the day this car was a 35 thousand pound car in the 90's and to this day it still needs to be treated like a specialist 'super car'(debate opening!!)

There are not many now that can aspire to fixing the zed to a expert standard. Don't give it to the cow boys!!!

must agree. I feel very sorry for ALL involved. I have met this chap and he has always been straight and honest with me and has offered endless technical advice to many members on here past and present for free (if he charged he might not be in this predicament). I really hope it all gets sorted to EVERYONES satisfaction. I also hope none of the smug self righteous members on here never fall into difficulties!!:surrender:

When the guy has lost 20Ks worth of gear of mine and lies to me that its still there,Doesnt inform the police of the break in and refuses to answer emails and refuses to come on the internet.Makes me kind of suspicious doesnt it you?

Fair point - I understand where you are coming from; and my response to your emboldened bit is "no"............

 

........Steve has played it descreetly and chosen not to name the culprit himself; nor to add innuendos. Although reading between the lines it does seem there are some who have worked out just who did him wrong. Consequently those individuals may appear to have made cryptic suggestions etc etc.

 

This thread is under our scrutiny and will be moderated if it gets out of hand!

I just hope the break in was like what happened to me, and just tools were stolen. The 300zx is a specialist car regardless of how you view it, and parts for these although expensive would only be targeted if the person doing the stealing knew about these cars, so until all facts are known I think it's best if people are just a little conservative with the comments, there might be a genuine reason why the guy hasn't answered yet.

 

If he was as helpful and forth coming as most whom seem to think they know who it is have said, he might be feeling very guilty of anything that has happened to your car while in his care, or because of a consequence of the break in or of his life taking a turn for the worst. I know this is of little comfort if anything has happened, but from what I have gathered so far at least the guy knew what he was doing before all of this kicked off.

 

Money issues can lead to depression and depression can have a very adverse effect on ones mind and rational thinking process. You might find all your parts and your car still there but the work just not done, keep your spirits up and I really do hope it all turns out for the best.

I'm one for giving people benefit of the doubt - it's best to see where everything acctually lies once the facts are on the table instead of guesswork. I can fully appreciate though that the fella who has potentially lost 20k must be seeing red though :-( I don't envy you and send my sympathies!

As i said on the phone steve, i feel for you bud and really hope theres a good solution for you and your parts are there. Obviously we need to leave opinions until after tomorrow and the facts are in but i cant help thinking that some of the parts would simply not have been stolen by a "normal" thief who in 99.99% of cases take simple easy to carry and sell things so if your fully built engine has gone i seriously think the "break in" is foggy at best as a thief doesnt winch an engine off an engine stand then wheel it into a van!!

After visting the garage today i have a rough idea of what was stolen.However the place is in such a mess its hard to say about the smaller peices.

 

1.My engine complete with tubs,manifolds injectors,just about everything realy

2.2 Volk GTP wheels with brand new tyres (mine)

3. 2 Vortex wheels with new Falcon tyres (mine)

4.2 Power enterprise air filters.

 

The other cars got away quite lightly as far as i can tell with one having just the wheels taken as the turbos,pistons and con rods were still there as tyhe neighbour saw them on the floor along with my AEM ECU and Koyo rad awaiting their next trip no doubt.

Anyway the police are on the look out now but im not holding my breath.
