  5. sheeesh! splitting hairs mate i was lumping both together as they are both big USA company disasters overseas...no huge slick from PA granted but one hell of a wreck to cut down still a wreck marked for shipping to this day...arguments ran for years on bhopal and the clean up...disgraceful USA companies who did their level best to avoid responsibility and pay victims in their time honored fashion. Occidental has previous in this field see love canal PA was (is) the world's worst off-shore oil disaster. At one time, this oil rig was the world' s single largest oil producer, spewing out 317,000 barrels of oil per day declined to 125,000 barrels by 1988 Piper Alpha was a North Sea oil production platform operated by Occidental Petroleum. On July 6, 1988, as part of routine maintenance, technicians removed and checked safety valves which were essential in preventing dangerous build-up of liquid gas. Within 2 hours, the 300 foot platform was engulfed in flames. It eventually collapsed, killing 167 workers and resulting in $3.4 Billion in damages Linked gas platforms had no permission from the Occidental control centre to shut down. Also, the connecting pipeline to Tartan continued to pump, as its manager had been directed by his superior. The reason for this procedure was the exorbitant cost of such a shut down. It would have taken several days to restart production after a stop, with substantial financial consequences. Gas lines of 140 to 146 cm in diameter ran to Piper Alpha. Two years earlier Occidental management ordered a study, the results of which warned of the dangers of these gas lines. Due to their length and diameter it would have taken several hours to reduce their pressure, so that it would not have been possible to fight a fire fuelled by them. Although the management admitted how devastating a gas explosion would be, Claymore and Tartan were not switched off with the first emergency call Piper Alfa 167 + Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) has confirmed a total of 3,787 deaths on initial leak = thousands in all
  6. they were both USA owned plant both poorly run and managed cut costs and corners at all times ended up killing thousands...obfuscated in cleaning up and paying out the victims by using clever lawyers and bully-boy tactics i do believe that only last year some of the bhopal victims got any money and now the USA are wanting a blank cheque from BP just 2 months later...!!!

  17. ahem....try the email at the end :) The first three winners, who all used the Electronic Vehicle Licensing (EVL) service during June, were presented with their cars at the launch day of the annual Motor Show at Excel, London. The winners are Mr John Dixon from Cramlington in Newcastle, Mr Kevan Pulfrey from Sheffield, and Mr Archibald Bennie from Thurso in Scotland. MP, Jim Fitzpatrick and SEAT President Erich Schmitt presented the winners with their cars. MP Jim Fitzpatrick said: "It only takes four minutes to use DVLA’s electronic vehicle licensing service, and everyone gets automatically entered into the free prize draw. Vehicle taxing is something we all have to do, but now there is an extra incentive for doing it." Kevan Pulfrey prize winner from Sheffield said: "I am delighted to have won a brand new car. I work for White Horse Green People, an environmental landscaping agency, where I help others reduce their impact on the environment. I am delighted that I now have a car with low emissions so that I can help the environment too." To renew vehicle tax or SORN quickly and easily log onto: http://www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc or phone 0870 850 4444 or textphone 0870 850 4445. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 18. big heads up to all cat owners on here we tragically lost a kitten at the weekend it was struck down and died within 24hrs... some lilly pollen dropped onto the window sill and it licked it off its fur/paws...we've had cats for over 20 years and never heard of it but its very real and so i'd recommend all those with cat n kittens to check the following information regards chris Members of the plant genus Lilium produce a chemical, present throughout the plant, that can cause a cat to suffer fatal kidney failure. It can be deadly for a cat to simply bite into a lily leaf or petal, lick lily pollen from its paws, or drink water from a vase containing cut lilies. Easter lilies, stargazer lilies, and Asiatic lilies seem to be the most hazardous of this group of plants. “Some cats appear to be more susceptible than others to lily toxicity, and the severity of the resulting kidney failure also varies from cat to cat,” said veterinarian Julie Fischer of the UC Veterinary Medical Center-San Diego. “Some poisoned cats recover with minimal therapy, while others require weeks of dialysis to live long enough for the kidneys to repair themselves.” She noted that many cats never recover kidney function following lily toxicity and die, or are euthanized, within just a few days of becoming ill. “Symptoms of lily poisoning include vomiting, lethargy or loss of appetite,” said UC Davis veterinary professor Larry Cowgill, co-director of the UC Veterinary Medical Center-San Diego “If cat owners suspect lily poisoning, they should contact their veterinarian immediately because a cat that has consumed the lily toxin very likely will experience kidney failure within 36 to 72 hours unless it receives appropriate treatment.” The veterinarians note that while all plants of the Lilium genus should be considered extremely hazardous to cats, calla lilies and peace lilies, which don’t belong to the Lilium genus, are harmless to cats
  19. jolly good, guess you'll be needing a 2nd hand starter now...or failing that keep a hammer in the glovebox :D good thing you cleaned the temp sender they are a regular weak spot on zeds
  20. mirror is @ £80 2nd hand...if heated n folding type...paint n dent @ £250 ...sh1t wouldnt even go via my insurers for minor stuff like that...just get a quote from a local body shop supply the mirror unit yourself and ask the old bugger for the cash
  21. doesnt sound too bad mate it sounds like your aircon sub fan kicked into life for some reason they are very noisy, it shouldnt run for 3 mins with keys out unless you have a turbo timer fitted? i found mine under the steering behind the panel... i guess you've spiked out....taking the battery off is a good start...after 15-30 mins the ECU resets so when you put battery back on all is ready for a reboot. just bang it back on and try to turn it back on...if the fan cuts in the engine temp sensor is fooked i reckon....its the yellow connector front of the engine as you open the hood...get furred up...clean the spades until they gleam copper :)....failing that try a new temp sender :D
  22. when using the zed i got a britax maxium the base of it lift/presses into the seat cushion via a lever...works great in the egg box rears of a zed also it tilts which is handy as the kiddy's legs do grow :)...but i do have a series 3....which comes with 3 point rear seat belts... i guess they are longer than the std lap belts...the front seat does have to shunt forward a bit but not to the very front
  23. http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.270
  24. yep the series 2 is the upgrade...you can repair the old ones if you're handy with a solder gun, if you seek out and ask jeffTT (of zedworld...google it) he may send you a working 2nd hand ptu in the post for you to try....he's breaking a couple of zeds at the moment
  25. wings have no vents on the stolen one either...that said pop the bonnet and if its a V8 under the hood then yep its manta :D
