top man stu....shocking stuff Sean! knock could be the tension rods stu? cheers chris
-
Knocking on right lock
tie rods?.... could be the bushes in them flexing under load or the rod is moving because the bolts have worn away the holes into something like an oval shape where they fix onto the crossmember...in some situations they can crack/rust right through, get a pry-bar and have a good poke about...hard to do/check on a driveway...use of a post lift is ideal to investigate suspension stuff http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=124934&highlight=tension+rod+worn+holes

cleaning up oil
cheers to all posters....I went for the brick /patio cleaner worked in with a stiff brush and blasted off with pressure washer...the brick cleaner foams away for 10 mins and lifts up the oil into a brown bubbly scum... then you can rinse it down not bad at £4.50 for 5 litres

Apple sourz
on the toothy drink front my friend popped over at the weekend they had been on a dental seminar recently and this bomb-shell came out the average adult has 60 microns of enamel worn off each year....well one bottle of a well known peach alco-pop does the same....they then showed slides takem from (alco-pop target) 25-35 yo women with no crowns to their back teeth...all enamel worn flat or burnt away...just pulpy teeth in some cases...! its all the fault of small acidic infused alcohol bubbles...not really noticed on the front teeth as people tend to neck straight from the bottles rather than sip from a glass.

Interesting barn finds, exotica

Autobox Oil working Temp ... What is it?
i think the crux of this is that the size of the cooler will effect the pressure in the box/flow of the fluid, that is more likely to cause a problem not the temp of the oil itself as the range on ATF oils IIRC is @ 30C to over 100C.....overcooking oil very bad but not really seeing a problem with cooling unless as above you go well under 30c...unlikely in my opinion.....but hey i'm no mechanical engineer :D that said maybe a different grade oil will overcome the extra cool oil system...that would work better allowing for that change in viscosity btw nice pipe work andy...looks good

Autobox Oil working Temp ... What is it?
dont think an auto gbox cooler needs a stat at all as it flows through the system AFAIK there isnt one on the stock set up is there(?) you cant overcool the oil as it works from deadcold in any event...unlike your average F1 car :D

Electrical problem - Car Dead
its a standard job (under 1hr) no special knowledge required most local garages will fit one for you if you supply the part etc. plenty of people breaking zeds on here 2nd hand alt's or you can try a re-wound one from a alternator repairer usually on an exchange basis / give core credit
-
Electrical problem - Car Dead
try a new battery mate, possible its cooked and wont hold the amps to crank her maybe a alternator fault but you can only really check the alt output when running HTH
-
Blue smoke!
welcome i'd think dazkent from D2 is your man, could be your turbo seals are shot, oil burning off leaking oil on idle etc....wouldnt rush to do a cambelt change if you need turbos sorting as you'll need to take the engine out and can do all the belts n stuff at the same time http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/member.php?u=15463

oil pressure gauge reading zero?!
very poor sensors on zeds mate. Happens to a lot of them. Some have relocated sensor, replaced or got aftermarket gauge to read better.
