Here goes - we've all heard this one before... Tonight I have cleaned all the connectors throttle bodies etc to try and solve the old Z problem of hesitation. The car now idles nice and smooth but sometimes it accelerates slower than a Metro!!! I am worried it could be the Airflow meter - does this need adjusting after fitting an aftermarket air filter??? Any help much appreciated before I start throwing money I haven't got at it!!! PS If your car does have a rough idle - clean the throttle bodies out - it works a treat!!!

Somehow they opened the driver door (must have used this bar thingy because the keylock is non operational - I disconnected it a year ago and only used the alarm remote). They tried to start it and screwed up the ignition. Stuck a key breaker in obviously. The key will not go in anymore (not all the way, almost - sometimes it even will) and it won't turn whatsoever. I had the car towed to safety and now I'm thinking I'll remove the ignition, take it to a shop to fix it and put it back in. Is it possible to remove the ignition as a DYI, how hard is it, any special tools? What other options do I have? I was told I can have a special key made which is ver…

Has anyone had experience of fitting a turbo timer (e.g.HKS) with a Cat 1 alarm/ Cat 2 immobiliser. From what I understand part of the Thatcham certification states that the immobiliser must kick in within so many seconds. If you have a timer leaving the engine running for xyz seconds will it prevent the immobiliser working or invalidate the certification?

One for the techies. While I was sorting some minor surface rust on the edge of the rear offside wing I removed the wheel to make spraying easier. Having a nose around and being impressed by the oil cooler on the diff ( and congrartulating myself again on choice of car etc etc) To my horror found the hose to one side of the cooler completely loose! Having had the car since Nov last year I think its been loose for some time as it's bone dry on the hose end and on the nipple on the oil cooler. Currently there is no noise from the diff so I assume there is still oil in it (I hope) I know from earlier post that the motor is conditioned by temp of oil I thin…

I have made the (momentous) decision to convert from auto to manual. After having an auto for 3 years and gradually upgrading engine & suspension i now reckon the time has come to convert because the manual surely offers that much more control, involvement and power. What's the opinion on the forum? Am I the first in the UK? If you have dunnit, are you pleased you did? P.S. See my auto box in the sale/wanted forum.

Should be available off my car (90 Jap TT) soon once I convert to a manual. The auto is in full working condition. Reconditioned by SE last summer, and still under warranty. Also had small performamnce upgrade. Only about 4k miles since. You can recon your own box for £1200 plus removal/installation. Total bill somewhere round £1500. Or you can have mine ready to fit for £850. Anders test drove this box a few months back, so he can verify it's a good'un.

At slow speed (less than 5mph) I get very loud brake squeal when I apply brakes which is a PIA in traffic queues etc. I have brembos off a skyline with Ferodo 2000 pads. Is there any solution. i remember someone suggesting copper grease behind the pads?

After taking it to local tyre merchants etc and getting the general (If you leave it with us then come back we will have it done by then remark) and putting the wind up me, I would like to find a more enthusiastic type centre or garage that will know what they are doing ?? Any ideas ? Dan p.s. When and where do you guys next meet ?

Anyone know the answer to this query, i'd be grateful. My 300 presently has Eibach lowering springs fitted all round, however there are times when i need to raise the front suspension height only (to drive on and off local ferry)would fitting height adjustable shocks to the front only raise it back to stock height or would it go higher, if so any ideas how high roughly and which make are the best to fit, Cheers boys, Smithy, I.O.M

Hello, I was a lucky man to be able to get my 300ZX 3 weeks ago and have not stopped fussing over it yet much to my wife's annoyance !! However, I have a few questions for some of you people that I hope you might be able to answer. 1) I need to get hold of an English Fairlady manual as mine has only been in the Uk Since November, the manual is all in Japanese including all the service docs, where can I get an English version ?? 2) When doing over 65 MPH (which I know is not wise but inevitable in a beast such as these) I get this funny very quiet electronic ping coming from the air-con unit (I think), it only starts at this speed and continues no matter how much faste…

HI ALL, I AM NEW TO THIS SITE, BUT NOT THAT NEW TO THE 300ZX. I HAVE HAD MINE FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS AND I LOVE IT. I WANT TO CHANGE MY STEERING WHEEL TO SOMTHING A BIT SMALLER AND A BIT BETTER LOOKING, BUT I CAN NOT FIND ANY LISTINGS OF A BOSS THAT WILL FIT A Z32, I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP MY 4 WHEEL STEERING THINGY UNDER THE STANDARD WHEEL, ANY IDEAS WOULD BE WELCOMED. MY SECOND PROBLEM IS THAT MY Z RUNS OK WHEN IT IS COLD BUT IF YOU STOP AT A PETROL STATION TO FILL UP, WHEN YOU START THE CAR AND SELECT DRIVE ON THE AUTO IT STALLS. THEN IT IS VERY HARD TO START AGAIN.ANY IDEAS??????? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
