hi everyone this is my first post, although i joined a while back but i mostly just browse! anyway,i have a 96 300zx non turbo(jap import) automatic and i love it to bits, had it over a year and no problems......until now and as usual its not straight forward although it might be to you guys! right, everything fine on startup and when driving but once the engine warms up and the auto choke kicks off it starts playing up. it does it when im in gear and on the brakes when stationary at the lights say,the engine revs drop from about 800rpm to about 500rpm,then it starts chasing itself, reving on its own then falling and chugging etc, when i accelerate its fine,…

Hi guys, Joined the forum as im in the market for a 300ZX. Ideally im looking for an SWB Manual. Currently I drive a Rover 220 Coupe Turbo which is fairly quick. I am confused though as to the true performance figures for a 300ZX, as the following information shows a huge amount of discrepency. 1989 Nissan 300ZX 7.1 15.5 1990 Nissan 300ZX 7.1 15.5 1990 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 6.5 15.0 1990 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo 5.6 14.1 1991 Nissan 300ZX 2+2 7.5 15.9 1991 Nissan 300ZX Turbo (auto) 7.0 15.4 1992 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 5.7 14.2 1993 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 5.2 13.8 1994 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 6.0 14.4 1995 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 5.5 13.9 Can any…

Hi guys and girls I have just seen what may become my first 300 for sale in my local village garage, it seems very cheap altough it needs a bit of work but I have a couple of questions if that is okay. Firstly it has had it's engine replaced with a 300 non turbo engine. This is fine by me but I am converned as to how it would affect my insurance as it is no longer a 300zx turbo. Would you people think this would cause problems as it is a modification or as it is reducing the performance would this be okay? Any ideas??? Secondly this 300, I think, is very cheap but it the work needed worthwhile? It is on an H plate has 100,000km on the clock alth…

How easy is it to refit air con if it has been removed. I guess it depends what has be removed and what has been retained but assuming the pipework has remained is it a case of refitting the compressor and condensor and recharging and relubing the system? Does anything need to be removed to get at the condesor /compressor? Are air con systems usually removed purely for weight saving reasons or is the space in the engine bay used for other mods?

As you all know I am selling my zed http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=77846&referrerid=4807 It is only so I can fund a new zed which I think is one of the best in the country. The owner is not a forum member - but I think the car is quite well known. I have just been told today that he has another potential buyer, but since I expressed interest first - he will give me one more week to raise the funds. I am married next month so I cant raid the bank hence my zed has to go. I seem to keep dropping the price and only had vague interest. :headvswal I am so shocked that my car which really is running very sweetly - looks good and has major wo…

I have been trying to find info on my M's FBC. Anyway to cut a long story short, I changed some setting on it recently... & boy what a difference. Ive had it set to 0.6 bar. The FBC has a built in digital vacc/boost gauge. My question is, at idle it reads -44. Now before the recent changes, when I boosted it I'd be lucky to reach over +50. Now though, after the recent changes I've made (but still set to 0.6 bar), when I put my foot down 3/4... the turbos scream a lot louder and I'm hitting +79 already. This sound right, or am I running way more boost than 0.6 bar? I've been to scared to floor it  Thanks, Jono

OK so my mate cainy's pass. seatbelt was FUBAR, it would unwind, but would not retract half the time. So we fetched it off, and once removed, it wound all the way in and would not wind out again. Anyway we discovered that if you remove the green (iirc) cover there is a strange device with a large ball bearing in it. When this thing is removed, the belt works absolutely spot on, wind in and out freely and locks up perfectly when tugged. So, what the heck is this stupid thing for? My belts are both slow to retract, I'm thinking of removing this thing from mine too. Does it have any actual functoin other than fooking it up?
