Just been checking out barryboys.co.uk for the first time today, and OMG, there really are some steaming piles of automotive-turd on the UK's roads! It's actually a really good site, loads of subscribed users, and best of all no censoring of the language at all - which makes people's 'say what you're thinking' descriptions all the more entertaining! Anyway, decided to search for '300zx', and came across a few real nasty Z's - can anyone here confess to owning / having owned one of these? http://www.barryboys.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23312&highlight=300zx or http://www.barryboys.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23104&highlight=300zx or …

Anyone know what's the best glue to use that will withstand high temperatures? The 'Veilside' metal badge is starting to come away from the tailpipe and I want to restick it. It's the one right on the tip. Apologies for the back box being so filthy, I'd only just paid the deposit for the thing when it was taken.

Hi Guys, I am looking to upgrade from a 200sx to a 300zx, but i would like to check a few stupid things first. In a 2+2 do the seats fold down (I need to be able to fit my surfboard)? Can a tow bar be fitted? (I need to be able to stick a bike rack on it) I know I should probably do what my girlfriend says and get a diesel estate, but no-one with a slow car is ever really happy! Cheers, Barney

What is the control mechanism for the sub fan? As mine comes on with ignition all the time. In the fusebox there was a relay missing, maybe the previous owner removed it to stop the fan running fast all the time. - On ignition the sub fan is always on at slow speed. - Plugging a relay in "SUB FAN" makes the fan run at fast mode. - Removing the "RAD FAN" relay stops the fan. Before you mention it, the EFI loom is brand new, all connectors are perfect, and both coolant temp senders are brand new. Is there a thermostat in the side of the radiator like on my Laguna? Thanks guys.

Posted on another thread; http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=81080 But thought might not get looked at and i need the info ASAP so iv given it its own thread. Thanks jack. Unfortunatly i had already taken it to the garage but they were able to identify it as a leaking power steering cooler (small radiator infront of the main rad), which rings true as i had to top up power steering fluid as my hicas light came on and the leaking oil had a red colour of ATF. Has anyone had any experience of this fault before and would they know how much it would cost (Nissan only part?) part + labour or is it a straightforward enough job that i could do myself. If so …

I am planning to a flush out of my coolant system and add some Water Wetter when I refill to help ease off some of my over heating problems. Could someone give me a step-by-step guide of how to do a coolant flush on a zed and where I can find all the bits I need to remove etc? Much appreciated. Also, for those of you who are using Water Wetter how much do you use and how much regular engine coolant do you use? From researching on here I can see that most people say one bottle is fine and it does have anti-corrosion properties so can do without additional antifreeze but this will last me through the winter (car outside at night) so don't want to take unnecessary risks but …

Came back in from tesco parked up and gave the loud pedal a little bit of a prod, could hear something rattling. Two prods later and a sound of something metallic falling off and bouncing round the engine bay eeek Looked in the engine bay and the bolt on the front of the cam belt cover had worked its way lose and dropped off under the car bouncing off the belts luckily not getting wedged in there. Phew :o Better go bolt it up tight and check the others while i'm at it...

I’ve been talking to UK based suspension manufacturer NITRON about manufacturing a kit for the ZX. They’re basically there with it now and prices are as below: NTR Sport £1195 (1-way) NTR Track £2095 (2-way) NTR Race £2395 (3-way) ... all plus VAT Quite a jump up to the Track set as that and the Race set use the piggybacked reservoir canister assemblies. All these kits include new machined top mounts with spherical bearings. We don't use any rubber bushes, only spherical bearings. Spring rates are to your spec but the standard setup will be ~8kg/mm fr and 6kg/mm rear (linear). These are not to be confused with some…

Hi, Tried to PM you but apparently you can't receive PMs or emails. Are we still on for that exhaust system as discussed on the 300zx forums? I believe you said £40 which is fine as long as your system is structurally sound (i.e. has less rust than my existing one). Cheers, Ian A.

Hi peeps, Im just stated getting a noise coming through, what sounds like, the transmision tunnel. It reminds me of a wheel bearing starting to go, that funny rubbing sort of noise. Ive just had new discs, pads & lines fitted....supposedly no probs there. Soooooo......is there a prop shaft bearing on these cars? if so does it sound like mines on its way out. Is it pricey to fix? Cheers Marc
