I'm toying with the idea of keeping my Z exclusively for the summer months, more from a financial aspect than worrying about wrecking the car when the ice/snow comes! Does anyone know what the best option is for storing Z's off road for a prolonged period of time? Am I going to come across problems after 9 months of no driving – such as rust and corrosion? I guess there are two options: - Put it on axel stands, put material between brake pads/discs, handbrake off, battery out, cover. OR - Keep it functional and turn it over/move it up and down the drive every week and have a friend with trade insurance take it out for a spin every now and then. Thanks …

If I've been driving in traffic for a while then give it some beans it's almost like it's lost 3rd of it's power, the difference is night and day. Especially in the hot weather we've had recently. Anyone else's get this? Once I'm on the motorway and the cars had a chance to cool with a bit of air through the front ic's and rAd it's back to feeling reasonably quick again. Is there anyway around this? Water temp is normal, oil temp is fine, boost levels fine, just really slow feeling and very hot in the cabin. Is this heat soak? I've noticed it runs very lean during idle at about 17-18afr and 14-15afr while cruising. Would this cause too much heat? Having the ca…

I have a Jap TT where power steering not working nor speedo. Jeff Turner fixed this issue around 18 months ago by adding a new wire from the back of the speedo cluster down to a connector in driver's foot well. The fault came back some months later. Another issue, when I got the car home from when Jeff first fixed it, I noticed the boost gauge was pinned at max and that some of the back-lighting wasn't working. I never got the chance to take it back to Jeff prior to his finishing. I took the Jap cluster apart today and re-soldered all the joints to the chip and the rest (electronics is what I do) but no joy. I had another UK cluster which Jeff let me h…

Hey guys, I was wondering if any electrical guru's could help me try and identify the best way to install this OEM infrared keyless entry system into my Z. I am aware there are much more advance and much better keyless entry systems on the market that are easier and better to use for car theft protection. I have never liked the idea of an aftermarket system and my expeirence with them has been all bad and a pain in the arse to fix or deal with. I do not want an aftermarket system so please don't offer me any as i am not interested please. Anyways from what I've gathered about OEM keyless entry systems available to the Z32 this was one of the systems offered for …

Can someone tell me a bit about coil overs for the 300zx? Ive only looked at the ones on zcentre, seen plenty on ebay but I don't trust ebay with car parts unless someone recommends them. I just want my car to be lower. . . . . . . . . and have good handling. Has anyone got a set for sale? Thanks.

I tried conzult, nissan scantech and datascan and they all act same. I am trying to read original non papped ecu. cable is com so i am using a brand new adapter from maplin on laptop running windows 7. Am i missing anything? Does it not work on win7 and i should get xp? I have no problems running delphi diagnostics on the laptop. unfortunately no support for 300zx.

Hi all. Fairly sure the 20 year old induction hose from the air filter to the turbo is getting on a bit now and possibly sucking in a little at higher revs. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket silicone hose or hardpipe kit available for this? Thanks

I was asked 'Andy can you illuminate in white the reverse light panel', i replied yes but you're likely to of spent money and are constantly getting your collar felt. I suggested what i have executed here. The 300ZX is painted in white, just like the 99 spec one which is red, you can see it below against a 89 panel, it's actually an Altia one but does for an example. I am not really going to divulge what magic is actually done but just the insides light up with the EL sheet and the white is not affected. Customer wants lines to match the tail lights, so these are added at this stage .

I'll be getting my Hicas gubbins at the rear end replaced soon and I want to make sure I have everything that's needed. I have the two arms here and a pair of balljoints is on order. What else do I need? And no, I don't want to remove it all and fit a Driftworks kit!!

Thought I would start a working thread for my labour of love (on a shoestring budget!).... Well going to go and buy some stud removers from machine Mart tomorrow to sort the snapped stud problem when removing the test pipes to replace the transmission. Then get a new stud from SEF. The Transmission is now mated with engine successfully and split rear mount temporarily fitted for testing purposes only as I had to order a Nismo one from the USA as they could get it here in a week thank god! Filling with Dexron III tomorrow, but waiting till later in the year to replace the Transmission sump with the old one that has the drain plug fitted. Also need to look at cha…

Ok well I have had a brand new engine harness put on. Sorted a lot of problems out but the rough idle is still there. Absolutely fine when driving but at idle the drivers side exhaust seems to stumble a lot more than the passenger side. Also at cold start the drivers side is smoking a bit (white). Any ideas now? I have: Changed maf New electrical harness Egr bypass Water bypass. New injectors

Hey everyone. Came home from work and I could smell fuel. Big style. Further inspection there was fuel on the outside of the fuel tank. So I took the fuel pump plate off and there were left overs from fuel there. So the fuel under pressure has come past the upper part of the fuel pump. 3 of the bolts seem to have lost their thread. Don't know how. What's the best way to go about this? Cheers

Don't think that I have even mentioned yet that I have bought a new zed. It's a black manual UK TT in need of some restoration which I will be doing slowly as I'm in no hurry. It seems that I am going about the resto in completely the wrong as all I have done so far is bought unnecessary bits and pieces which at present I really don't need. But I found some wheels which were really cheap. What do you think? Should I paint the centres of just leave them as is?
