General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Did a little photoshopping to help me decide which rears to get. Basically this is a silver zed very much like mine, I like the venoms (thanks SGT C for your 6 pots ;) ) but thought possibly a bit lairy for a standard car. Anyway I think they both look pretty good but what do you guys think? Al.

Can you get carbon door cards for theZed?Mine are shot.Or is there another alternative :)

What do they do exactly? I know they do a lot of things but whats the main use? I'm thinking they drill big holes and maybe cut into things kind of like a drill but with a bit that files sideways if you know what I mean. cheers

hey guys! engine will be out by the weekend again and have spent all evening reading up on all the useless c++p for emmissions i can remove! whilst i was there have been checking my engine mod spec and it looks like the only thing slowing me down will be my stock manifols! as i have t25/t28 tubs, split divorse down pipe, greedy i/c's, nismo 555 etc etc! :dance: i cant afford new tubular manifolds so is porting and polishing them worth wile???? is there any real probs with removing all emission etc parts! dont really fancy removing engine for 3rd year running! :cry: regards steven

Well it had to happen sometime...... :rolleyes: My zed lost all power thru gearbox this eve, no traction what so ever :cry: Car was ok all day, then started to make a whining noise, then started losing power within minutes, then nowt. What are the classic symptoms of a f**ked auto box. Looks like the cars gonna be laid up til next year....maybe time to change car, maybe not....maybe a manual conversion. Problem is....dont want to throw good money after bad....spend 1500 on a box or save the cash & chop the car up for goodies....even tho Ive only just got it painted etc etc. Opinions pleeeez ;)

Hi guy's and gals I think I may go for tinted rear lights on my black TT. I would really like to go down the 99 spec route but don't have the readies at the mo so will go for the cheap option :) Has anyone done this and found the bulbs not very bright and upgraded them? If so what did you upgrade them to? TIA Ivan

any of you guys know the location of a zed specialist near to me. i live in the north east of england in sunderland. i just need to have them check this noise on the car and tell me if its ****ed or fixable. i dont really want to drive to tamworth in her as its a 200 mile journey there. if they need to keep the car then i,m gonna have to get the train back then get another train to go and pick her up. plus of course... the unthinkable could happen on a run out and i,m stuck. cheers george

Hi, Just wondered if the alloys i bought for my S14 200sx will fit my 300zx 2+2991 spec). Im going to be sellingmy 200 so would like to keep the alloys if possible for my zed.

hi guys and girls ive got a strange sound when coming off the throttle, its hard to explain but when the revs are coming down it sounds like theres something lose in the engine bay, sounds like an unblanced fan (ie turbo) but car feels fine as in boosting goods, could this be the convertor in the gearbox?? my car is a 93 auto TT uk spec any help is greatful regards andy

Nothing heavy, just wondered what they do. Door cards off, on the driver's side there's a small black box secured to the door. What does this do? Is it something to do with the central locking? It's on the outer part of the frame closest to the driver. Also, in both doors, there are two connectors that aren't plugged into anything.

From one problem to the next. managed to change power steering pump but now i've gone and blown rear lights. Had one rear bulb (out of two) out on tail lights. bulb was working intermittently so decided to clean up bulb holder. plonker that i am forgot to turn lights off first :rolleyes: :cry: there was a quick spark and now both tail light bulbs on offside dont work. looked at fuses but nearside ok and brake lights working. :rolleyes: Hmmmm - I have a suspicion that someone who should know better has connected these two identicle connectors the wrong way around!!!! I need a bit of visual guidance/confirmation of the correct pairing of the connectors. They sit at the back of the engine under the scuttle above the IAA unit kinda area. Could someone confirm the colour of the wires on the connector that plugs into the 02 plug (white sleeving) please? Many thanks. ;) AndyGP

Hi, I have taken a reading between the FICD valve terminals on the IAA valve and got a reading of 25ohms - I think I read somewhere that it should be 75ohms - is that correct? BTW getting the IAA unit off is a complete b**** and as for the Air Reg - the bottom bolt is blind and I am having extreem problems getting to it - any ideas anyone? Next Q! I can't believe how hard it's been to get my toad ai606 connected to my central locking. The guy who fit the alarm couldn't do it even after about 3 visits (which probably means my alarm doesn't even work properly), and now I've rang about 7 numbers and get responses like "not without a wiring diagram sorry" "sorry never heard of a toad" "sorry never heard of a 300 zx-80" "I don't touch toads mate" I had a dream! That one day my children will be able to open my car door without using a key! And I'm pretty sure that plastic thing inside the door is going to break again with too much key usage. Hi. Does anyone have any experience of this product? Does it do what they say? Is it easy to fit? My Z has the 180 kph speedo and odo, so I'd like to try it. It also states it will link into the cruise control and let you set that at higher speeds.

Does anyone have a master cylinder seal kit available now? Only got a spare car I'm borrowing until tomorrow night and my car has no brakes. I wish i coould explain to you guys how much i need this fixing asap....i'm fooked if i can't get em. Please help me. Rich

I have an AP front brake set-up on another car of mine and it is without doubt an amazing brake upgrade but not cheap... I will be putting a set of these brakes on my project ZX and was wondering what is the best price currently available for an AP set-up on a 300ZX? Also who would be interested in an AP brake kit if available at circa £1500 - £1600? (this price would include everything you would need ie calipers, 335mm / 350mm discs with mounting bells, brake lines, bolts and adaptor plate) Thx Lee

glad to say nothing worng with me or the car. In fact was not even in it. But was a whitness to some tosser spinning a red zed down chery orchard way and causing a young girl to leave the road. Shes OK, got a nice lump on her head and a wrecked car. And I am absolutly lath to say it, yes the zed was being driven by a complete asshole who thought it funny to pull donuts. Lost controle, span across the road and caused the girl to swearve and crash. Poor cows only had the car and license a month. Hi Guys Decided to clean out the throttle bodies today and as the car was hesitating on pulloff. Also Disconnected battery to reset the ECU. Started the car and making a wierd noise that wasnt there before. The car is hesitating so badly now that it stalls almost everytime I pull off. Please help someone!!
