So my engine noise is more or less the crank pulley slipping so needs changed. What does everyone recomend ? Stick with the oem and get a new crank damper pulley or get an alluminum pulley from the likes of japseed http://www.japspeed.co.uk/nissan-300zx-lightweight-aluminium-crank-pulley.html I'd prefer not to hear any excess noise and also avoid having to buy new belts too.

Ok, I'm painting my car with cellulose paint next month, in a gazebo - everything as usual on a strict budget... My Zed is primed and rubbed down, and ready for the base coat. I've been praticing on other parts - nose panel, targa stips, door handles etc. I'm getting the hang of spraying, finding it annoying how every little imperfection shows up with the base coat - why can I still see score marks from sanding, even after rubbing down the primer with 600 grit?! I don't plan to use clear coat, due to the extra cost, and the added risk of screwing up at the end. It should also be easier to respray anything I'm unhappy with at the end. The paint I'm using …

My car has failed it's M.o.T. for corrosion. Looking at it on a mate's ramp, it appears to be on both sides and at the leading and rear edges of the sills. To me, front looks more like the jacking point rather than the sill. Any idea of a ballpark figure to rectify this assuming replacement panels being welded in rather than just a patch-up job? Cheers as ever, Ronnie

When I bought my Zed it was in a bad wày mechanically, resulting in the exhaust being completely full of oil down one bank and residue in the other. I know everyone says, "it'll burn off when you drive it", but I really think this will take a while and I don't want to drive around in a twin turbo'd smoke machine, especially considering the first drive will be to the MOT station... Has anyone tackled this before, if so how? I have access to a diesel powered steam cleaner but not sure if this will end up with loads of emulsified oil in the pipes being pumped out as smoke and steam? Would it be worth pouring diesel/white spirit etc in there and sloshing it abo…

Hi all As some of you know I recently got my car back on the road. It's running spot on except for a couple of little things that I think are all connected ie a leaking injector(s) Here are the symptoms and issues - the car is hard to start. It turns over more than expected then splutters into life. Then runs perfectly - fuel pressure drops off immediately after stopping the engine. It should hold for hours. I guess this explains the above - one/both of the O2 sensors sit steady at 0.8v at idle- raise the revs a bit and they dance around as they should ( brand new Bosch) - the car smells rich at idle- on the mot test, Co came out around 1.75% (to…

Hi all, Just thought I'd share a few pics since getting my car back from Dasstech and JAE at the weekend. After the show I set about detailing the car for winter storage! I've spent 2 very long evening's after work going though the many stages of detailing. I'm new to the in depth detailing world and this was my first attempt from start to finish. I found it very therapeutic cleaning the car though it's stages from start to finish. What do you think?

I knew this Nissan Stagea was about Belfast somewhere and today I seen it. I was filling up at the petrol station when I could hear a rumble behind me looked round and there it was. I talked to the owner to get some info on the car and he has done a lot of work to the body and engine and is running at over 500bhp :) http://www.tec8ni.com/

Just planning a new alarm install and was wondering which alarms people have and where you have located the LED's & Valet switches etc. as I want to avoid cutting into dash panels if possible. Looking at a Clifford 650 or a classic Toad Ai606, but wondered if Cobra alarms are any good? Also thinking of moving my fog switch when I eventually get the interior retrimmed but where to...? (Its currently on the panel next to the gearstick, below the clock) I understand it has to be visible to pass the MOT

Ok Guys, following JAE last weekend, this is more an observation but the answers will interest me I have owned and driven a Z for 12 years, I don't profess to know a lot about cars but on the other hand I know enough, and am always willing to talk and learn more especially about Zs. Over the weekend not one And I mean nobody asked me about my car or expressed any comment on it good bad or indifferent. I could have discussed my lightened flywheel, my upgraded clutch, my new exhaust made up of a copy of a Mines system at the front a d Trust back boxes and pipes, my Defi recording box, my Veilside Andrews wheels, how the SWB is so much different car to drive compar…

So I rigged up the boost leak tester last night as the idle was horrendous. Unsurprisingly I found some big leaks on a couple of nipples left over from deletes that I hadn't noticed or weren't noted on that famous Vac diagram from Z32 wiki. So the info I've read says to pressurise to 5psi max. I can do this, but how long should I reasonably expect it to stay there, or how long to bleed out? I totally appreciate it's not an airtight system by any means, but I have no idea what I'm looking for or what is acceptable.

I went to pick up a load of fluids yesterday including a couple of litres of 5.1 brake fluid. The guy serving me turns around and tells me it's for race use only, not for road vehicles?! I asked why and he did the rabbit in headlights look. I asked if he was confusing it with Dot 5, the silicon based fluid, he glazed over and told me it's just not for road use. He's completely wrong right, I understood it to be compatible with any Dot 3/4 system and has the bonus of a higher boiling temperature? My brake systems been dismantled in full around the engine bay. If I'm going to replace the fluid with Dot 5.1 what's the best way of flushing the old stuff in the lines out …

My dashboard was poorly fitted back together by a previous owner. The dash hasn't been fitted under the top windscreen vents properly, and this strange piece of metal was stuck on top....

I desperately need to improve the ride quality as I can feel every little bump in my zed. It got worse when I put 18" wheels on. So what can I do to improve it? I've already bought z1 FUCA's as the ones I currently have look homemade. I also plan to buy 4 new tyres & have the wheels aligned early next year when she's back on the road. What suspension bushes should I buy to replace the solid ones? I need to make it a comfortable car to drive again as it's a bit of an effort at the moment.
