Well after less that a month of my strosek front being on the car, it has come off and been replaced with a 99-spec front! Reason being i have a very steep drive and i could'nt get it on as the strosek is just too low :( But hey ho, i've got my 99-spec on there and i'm well happy :nana2: It ain't perfect, bit of a quick job to get me back on the road, when i get the money together i'll get it looking perfect. :D

hey, as some of you will have read i picked up my first zed on wednesday, havent really had all to much chance to drive the car since (or even see it in the light!) due to work commitments. however just went for a quick drive this morning and just a few things i was wondering if you guys could tell me to worry about or not (i owned a french car before and EVERYTHING french breaks!).. i noticed a very slight ticking .. only audible with windows down so not to loud. when engine is running.. there is a sort of groany/knocky.. almost slurping sound coming from the top corner of the engine bay .. drivers side. when i stepped out of my car i could feel some seri…

I have a 1990 zed and it smokes in all conditions whetther it is idling, driven hard or pootling. I have taken it to garages that have suggested that it it may be the turbos and other that have told me I need a complete new engine! I live in Ilfracombe, North Devon and would appreciate some advice / the contact details of a local specialist that can provide better advice.

Hi. My ZX keeps stalling when Im slowing down from a fast speed (eg coming off a motorway down the slip road). Any ideas why this could be as its quite dangerous as I loose power steering and breaks.

I took the z to my local garage today, lots of tappet noise going on, looks like i need to replace some lifters, just looking to see were the best place and the cheapest place to get a set. Would it be better just to replace the ones that have gone or just do them all. And last of all, what sort of labour time can be expected for this job is it a big job??. Any coments most welcome.

I had the car on the road with a tempoary (but dodgy) ngine which I blew up last month! In the background Jimmer has been building me a new engine with Wiseco pistons, eagle rods, cometic head gasket and 800cc injectors which is almost done. So with the engine dead it was time to get started on the next stage so the old engine is out and today the autobox is out,all the piping for the TT system is out, hicas is out and lastly air con is out :smash: I'm sure the car will be 100kg lighter by…

Just spotted a red zed going out of Hartlepool on the A689. Aftermarket bumper and side skirts, had a bit of a chrome thing going on too. Never seen this before anyone else seen it or know who it is?

Hi Guys, Just wanted to know peoples opinions on resprays. What sort of quality do you expect from a bodyshop. I realise it's never going to be as good as factory but what would you be happy with? Mines in pearl white and I know imperfections show through more in a pearl and obviously can only be flattened so much but I found quite a few marks still on the car but it's still got to be polished so I didn't say anything............ I have just dropped out my auto box and I am now looking at the wiring. There are three plugs by the hicas which the wires went to the auto box. Do I need these now or are they redundant?

First time ever - the Zed started to let me know it wasn't happy. Local trip - engine coughs and misfires like it's gasping for breath. Changes gear a bit erratic due to engine revs see-sawing. Had a brainwave. Stopped. Opened the filler cap and a huge rush of air into the tank. Started up no problems. Now the tank was just under half full - and I always get a small suction on fill up days. Here's the question - is there si=upposed to be a vacuum in the tank at all? Is my filler cap supposed to breath? thanks ps guess is the tank was at such a vacuum inside the pump wasn't able to pull fuel through - an offers?

Does anyone have measurements of whereabouts on the boot the mounting points for a 99 spec spoiler should be? Or any close up pictures that i can take to bodyshop to help?

hi z mates i once read an article on cambelts and have read that there is an american company that does hi performance cambelts that are vertually indistructable for Z's, but for the life of me i cannot find it. does any know of or has used any such cambelt, if so whats your opinion of them and where can i get one from. regards big mo

its growing on me this black paintwork...gets dirty quick but i think it shows the zed off nicely

second gear has been slipping so i removed the sump from my autobox to find an m8 bolt in the bottom of the sump, :smash: the head of the bolt had broken off also this would indicate streching of the bolt!! the bolt has come from the brake band servo and im thinking has this seized or is coming under exessive strain and that is why second gear isnt working?? i have replaced the bolt with a new one and will try the box again, in the filter was a few brown bits that could well be the brake band only a tea spoon full maybe!! well lets cross fingers it will work this time :rolleyes: p.s anyone know what the b shift solenoid does as it wasnt doi…
